Save me Barry!
Hi there

I've just noticed that we have a few of these around the place. Any ideas on getting rid of the little buggers?

Cloves! I filled little organza bags with cloves and put them in the places I found them. I think it has definitely worked. I have only seen one in many months.

eta - I just used the little bags you can get in packs of 6 etc from the $2 shop.

Mothballs.

Which are now referred to as Moth Marbles for some weird reason - no, no no-one actually thought they were moth testicles honestly!

Bay leaves - you can get them dried. A couple in the pantry and a couple in with the flour etc. you just need to replace them every 6 months or so cause they lose their potency after a while

Thanks for the ideas! I think I might try the cloves and the bay leaves in the pantry and the moth testicles in with the clothes

The trouble with mothballs is that all your clothes smell of them. I had silverfish or moths eat one of my best jumpers last year. The love wool mostly, so I have smelly soap scattered around with cloves stuck in the soap. I also put all my woollen jumpers into a big zippered plastic bag. I was so mad when I saw that jumper last year, which was an expensive one. rant.gif

Are the cloves in a sealed container though? They need to be open to the air to work. Even just scatter a few loosely in the cupboard and see if it makes a difference.

sad.gif Your poor jumper. And yes, I have just returned from Coles and I already smell like a nanna. I think I might hang the mothballs in with things that don't get worn very often and scatter the cloves around all my other stuff

Ah, that could be my problem. I bought some cloves today as well and I am about to go and scatter them willy-nilly through the pantry

oh, my glamorous life

I actually don't mind the smell of mothballs. I know it's regarded as a terrible smell but isn't it just camphor? What are they made from?
