Have been trying to get back in here to post for a few days. Hopefully I finish it this time (had a couple of partial posts that I then had to go do something else in the middle of and never got back to).

Cubs - hope your DS is fully recovered now. Must have been quite scary.
Funny on the weight thing. I converted all my siblings weights from lb/oz to g so that is why I caught the differences right away. It wasn't the size I was necessarily questioning though (my sister was a big baby, so it didn't seem too unlikely to have a baby of 4.29kg, though I'm sure Ali is glad she wasn't that big).

Ali - Violet is so cute. Congrats again. Sounds like it was another one of these quick labours. Hope that bodes well for all of us.

FlyingKiwi
- hope those BH turn into the real thing soon.

Pink
- ugh, hope the mastitis clears and stops coming back. Must be incredibly frustrating to have it keep recurring not to mention bloody painful.

SusieBlue - yay for bubs turning around.

AFM - Ob yesterday and nothing much to report. Morph is next week.
Having an emotional day today though. DD was babysat last night while DH and I went to a comedy show. Show was great but baby sitting experience, not so much. We had MIL arrive at 7:50pm with the plan that DD would be asleep - she wasn't. I was still struggling to get her down when DH said we had to get going (and we did). I needed probably another 5-10 minutes but we didn't have it (had started putting her into bed 40 minutes before). DD was happy enough lying in bed and telling MIL about her day when we left, but at some point, got upset, got taken out of bed, calmed down and that was it. MIL tried everything she could think of (except taking her for a drive because she had to move her car out the way and also couldn't find the garage remote) and nothing worked. She tried putting DD back into her cot and telling her it was time to go to sleep and patting/talking to her and DD got so worked up and was sweating - when we got home her hair was wet, so she just held her on the couch and let her look at photos on my iPhone. This kept DD calm at least. We got home to DD still awake at 10:45pm. Poor MIL. DD went to sleep pretty quickly (at the breast of course) and slept til 5, then another breastfeed for 15 minutes or so, and sleep til 8).
Anyway, so today I'm thinking, this cannot go on. We can't have her not sleeping and taking fricking forever to go to sleep every night and DH said that MIL must have felt that she had failed and that is exactly how I feel - like a total failure in teaching DD to go to sleep. So I'm trying to read my sleep books (Pinky McKay and No cry sleep solution) and crying because I felt so helpless. DH is looking at me going "it's ok, it's just a bad night, lots of kids have bad patches..." At least he has stopped telling me that CC is the solution because he has now seen that it doesn't seem to work with DD. She just gets hysterical. Forgetting how DD handles it anyway, I can't. I can't cope with it if she is crying and screaming.
I'm all calmed down again now and coming up with tweaks and additions that we can try to the current routine. One idea is to buy a doll bed for her doll so we can put "baby" to bed first. She always gets her doll to have in the room with us but doesn't sleep with her. I have some ergo wrap sleeping bags to put baby in that would be like DD's sleeping bag. Also I want to try adding a story between the breastfeed and the in to bed step and to try and get DH to be the one who sits with her to go to sleep. The last one is a bit tricky to implement because DH is frequently not actually home at that time, but when he is here, we will see if he can do it. I also am going to pick DH's next set of overnights to do the no more breastfeed during the night with an intro of in 3 more nights, no b/f until morning (and help of a gro-clock).

DD has also just started taking her pants and nappy off just after she does a wee (or at least I think that seems to be the timing). We have a little seat that goes on the big toilet, but she has no interest in going on that at all. Our neighbours have offered us their toilet training stuff so need to get my butt over there at t a good time to see what they have. I was thinking this would all be a little further away, but it looks like toilet training could be a little sooner that I planned. Also need to order some training pants.... Oh it's all happening around here. All I need to do is move her into a big bed at the same time to ensure total chaos ensues.
