 Not having a 5yo party, Feel a bit guilty... |

My son decided he wanted to go on a boys ski trip (with dad), staying overnight and doing a ski lesson for his bday (which falls in July), rather than a big friend party. I dont know why but I feel bad, as 5th birthday is meant to be 'the big one' LOL I'm being silly arn't I?? I am thinking of suggesting he chooses a couple of friends to take to the movies.Anyone else not had a big friend 5th?

If he is turning 5 in July, I'm assuming he isn't at school yet.
So I wouldn't treat the 5th birthday as the big one. For my girls, the "big" party (which meant inviting around 10 kids) was the FYOS. Which meant age 6 as all my girls have birthdays later in the year and turned 6 in the first year of school. DD1 was my earliest in June, so by that time, they have made lots of new school friends, so it's nice to have a party with all the new friends. Oh, and my older two girls definitely still remember their 6th birthday party  They loved it. Doesn't need to be horrendously expensive, and they get so much enjoyment out of it. |
