sorry to hear that sandgropegirl - for your DS or DD? did you suspect it? were also dealing with GDD Marina - my DS had the GDD delay diagnosis a year before he then got diagnosed with ASD too...he has a moderate GDD (original diagnosed with mild GDD), ASD and speech delay. He got the ASD diagnosis end of January so all pretty fresh here at the moment too. Hang in there.!!! And good news on your sons other results Sandgropergirl - hang in there Ellie - sorry to hear you have had bad run with childcare in the past. The first place we put DS was horrible...but we were lucky to find somewhere else that has been fantastic for him. And i have to say daycare has done wonders for him socially...hope u can find somewhere you are happy with if u go ahead with it. Well DS got the ASD diagnosis end of January...and FINALLY after playing tag phone team with the autism advisor we got in contact and did phone interview today and his funding is now approved whooop whooop. Now to plan how to best use it. |

Marina - my DS had the GDD delay diagnosis a year before he then got diagnosed with ASD too...he has a moderate GDD (original diagnosed with mild GDD), ASD and speech delay. jdmum1 - can i just ask you re your DS GDD dx, so it had moved from mild to moderate. Did they tell you why? is it just that hes getting older so the delay gap is getting bigger? My DS didnt have a blanket severity on his GDD, he ranged in different areas from being mild (gross motor/fine) to moderate/severe - speech delay. How old is your DS? I often wonder about the ASD dx... my speechie tells me that in ASD there are inherent delays. so the term GDD is only stating there is more than 2 areas of delay which can be quite common for ASD. Have you started any early intervention when you were first told about the GDD? I am doing RDI for the ASD as he is too emotionally young for traditional ABA at this stage accordsing to the people at ASPECT and his dev paed. So i will be looking at a provider to go with a softer approach with DIR Floortime in the meantime and will go to traditional ABA in about 6-9 months depending on how he has improved. |
