My 16 month old DD eats very small amounts of food - she has always been this way even with milk before she started on solids.

'Good' and 'bad' days tend to go in cycles, but a typical would look like this:

Wake - 150-200mls milk
Breakfast - few mouthfuls of cereal (if lucky)
Morning tea - few blueberries or sultanas
Lunch - few bites of a sandwich. few mouthfuls of yoghurt. few sips of milk.
Afternoon tea - similar to morning tea or nothing if refuses
Dinner - whatever we are having. maybe 1/4 of a cup.
Bed - 100mls milk.

Does anyone else's toddler eat similar amounts? She is understandably pretty tiny but is healthy and very (very!) active so I am not necessarily worried (but am thinking the nurse my change my mind on that one at our 18 month check up).

TIA.

Not so much my youngest (currently 19 months though he just had 2 bites of toast for lunch - but is teething) but my eldest was/is like this. Some days I am lucky if he eats 1/2 cup of food total (this is at 3). Some kids are just like this as long as they are healthy and active and pooing and weeing I don't really think there is anything to worry about

Yes my ds who is 27 months eats a similar amount to this. I'm glad he is my second or I would be completely freaked out. He is fine - weirdly enough he is tall for his age. If you are worried go and see your mch nurse. This reassured me and the nurse told me that some kids aren't big eaters.

Have a look at her fist. That's roughly the size of her stomach. It doesn't take much food to fill it. Some kids get by on air almost! My daughter was the same, even now at 23 months she's not a big eater, but she's got lots of variety(though mostly fruit lol) in her diet.

Dd 17 months has days like that and then days where all she does is eat.
Most of the time she eats more on a bad if I do a mixed plate with vegemite on crackers, cheese, apple slices and grapes she will normally finish the plate.

I also leave the fruit bowl where she can see it she she asks for fruit 2-3 times a day (half a apple for example at a time)

My 25mth old is or should I say was exactly the same. In the last 3 days she has tripled her food intake. I am sure this is just a growth phase and she will go back to eating nothing soon!

As long as your little one looks happy and healthy and there is food on offer they will be fine. They are pretty good at regulating how much food they need

DD was like that (only not petite and breastfed so not sure how much milk she gets) but started to eat more in the last month or so. Not everyday but definitely more. If she is happy and healthy and you offer her food, then I'm sure she is fine.

My DD is 19mths old and her whole diet consists of...

Valia yoghurt (in the squeeze packets)
Frankfurts
Strawberries
Cheesy mite Scrolls
Cheese
Palony
Organic bubs Sweetcorn sachets
Cheese Crackers

Apart from these foods she will eat the occasional hot chip but we obviously dont encourage those.

Her consumption is like this on a typical day....

6am 100ml toddler formula
8am 1 sml piece of cheesymite scroll and a Valia yoghurt sachet
11am 1 or 2 Cheese crackers
1pm 1 pce of palony, 1 cube of cheese (sometimes eats/sometimes leaves)
4pm 2 Strawberries
6pm 1 sachet of OB vegies (sometimes only eats half) and 1 sachet of Valia yoghurt.
7.30pm 100ml toddler formula
11pm 150ml toddler formula

Its basically the same diet every day, she won't eat any kind of pureed, mashed food or have a bar of BLW/self feeding. She's always been a hassle to get food into and always had phases of only eating certain things. I am just going with the flow and make sure she gains weight and poo's and wee's as normal. Really hoping she grows into a better eater soon.
