So Pat has had, what looks like a pimple, on his nose for the last few days. I has been getting bigger and redder and then eventually became a pustulle. Last night in the bath it either popped or DH couldn't help himself and popped it for him. So now it just looks gross. Anywho, MIL & SIL keep saying babies don;t get pimples and it is something more sinister and he shouldn;t go to daycare, so of course I got on google and I have convinced myself it is golden staph. I am taking him to the doctor today but please put my mind at ease, can toddlers get pimples?

Anyone can get pimples. They can result from hormones, or just from a build-up of dirts and oils. It'd probably be the latter for a toddler unless they were on some sort of hormonal medication.

I would imagine they could. It only takes a bit of dirt or dead skin to get caught in a pore before the oil will build up.

It could also be impetigo. I say this because DD has it at the moment. It started with what looked like a mosquito bite (but can be a pustule) It just got bigger and bigger - I thought she had been picking at it.
It might be worth going and getting a dr to check it out. |

DS has had a couple over the years but nothing more sinister even occured to me! He doesn't sit still and is soooo sweaty so I assumed it was just a bit of dirt and sweat that caused it. He showers every day obviously, but there's plenty of time for it to form between getting sweaty in the morning and a shower at night... I'd still send him to daycare!

My son got what looked like little pimples on his face - and it was impetigo - or school sores. This is a staph (or strep) infection. I just want to put OP mind at rest - this is VERY different to Golden Staph.
Staph is infectious though. If he gets more pimples have it checked out - otherwise I would put it down to a once off pimple. |
