Hi

Looking for opinion regarding my son (5yo) teeth.

He had an injury about 2 months ago where he fell face down in a bath, and had swollen lips and gums.

I took him to the dentist at the time, she took an Xray to check his permanent teeth and they were okay.

However he recently had swollen gums on his 2 top front teeth, so I took him to the dentist today. The dentist said the swollen bits are abcesses and the 2 front baby teeth have to be extracted. She also ordered Amoxycillin for the abcesses, and X ray for his jaws.

I questioned why the baby teeth have to come out, and she said because of the injury, the baby teeth may have died and need to be removed otherwise they will cause more abcesses.

Does this make sense? Should I get a second opinion re extraction of baby teeth.

Also would a local be ok? or would he need to have a general?

Thanks

Loving my little princess.....
I'd be inclined to leave them, treat him with antibiotics this time, and next time it happens (if) then extract them.
