I have just gotten into this series and finished season 1 last night and I have to get this out. Why did they have to kill off Karl and Ned Stark I was really liking those characters and they didn't even make it to the next season, I was glad when a couple of people died Viserys Targaryen just annoyed me so glad he is gone but why oh why did Eddard Stark have to go, stupid stupid show lol.

Yes the slaughter of the children was awful. Seeing that is really confronting.

The casting is done so well. Tyrion is absolutely brilliant. And Joffrey is portrayed as a snivelling little sh*t, just like in the books. Such an unloveable character but that's exactly how he's supposed to be. I love the venom around Cersei, Varys and Littlefinger, the threats, insinuated statements etc.

GRR Martin certainly does enjoy killing off major characters, Eddard Stark as an example. Certainly in the book it can be hard to keep up as so many die, so many new characters are introduced. Couple of characters to come that I'm looking forward to seeing how they portray. There's definitely a few scenes in the later books that it will be very interesting to see how they do.
