Hi ladies

I've recently found out I'm expecting & was given a business card several
months back by a midwife from 'my midwives'. They're a private midwife service that run from a clinic in toowoomba but have also very recently opened a clinic in Ipswich. They also do house calls.

I'm just wondering if anybody used them and how they found the experience??? And also what the out of pocket expenses are like?

This is my 1st pregnancy, I've also got private health through Australian Unity.

When I was looking into homebirth, several people recommended them to me. Unfortunately they're not in my area.

An EB member used them recently with her first baby and had a great experience with them. Her username is rosiebird. HTH.

I have not used them fully but highly recommend them. I can't fully comment on price but I would guess around the $3000 - $4000. Are you in Toowoomba or Ipswich? I am heavily involved with Friends of the Birth Centre in Toowoomba (Vice president, previously President) and we are connected with My Midwives a little as they use the birth centre at Towooomba Base. We are in the process of integrating our monthly morning tea with their mothers group. I know a number of women who have used them and have loved them.
If you are in Toowoomba, I would also highly recommend the Birth Centre. To apply for the Birth Centre you need to ring the antenatal clinic ASAP and ask for your name to be put down on the waiting list for the Birth Centre.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I am closer to Ipswich so would be seeing them from their new clinic. I have applied for a spot in the Ipswich hospitals Midwifery program at this stage but if I don't get in for any reason I will definitely be hiring a private midwife. I spoke to one of the ladies from My midwives and she was great. So I'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

I know this is an old thread but thought I'd put my opinions in for anyone else who might be interested.

I've just booked in with the new Ipswich service for the birth of my twins. I wasn't happy with all the policies etc that the public hospital wants for twins, so thought I would get a private midwife to help out.

The midwife I am seeing is actually the one who delivered my last son when she worked at the hospital. She was absolutely fantastic and was great under pressure (speedy hallway birth).

I saw her all through my last pregnancy and she was wonderful and I am really happy that I can see her privately this time. I would definitely recommend them to anyone
