Hi! I have a 4 year old daughter Emilie Rose. At the moment she is hitting me and my baby boy Charliey Finn, also bitting us! I have tried saying "NO" but that has not work! What can I do? From Sofia

At a guess I would say that she misses you. You should take her out for a soft drink or juice and spend some time alone with her, even if it is only half an hour.
Then explain to her that as she is older she needs to set a good example. Then she does it again take her aside and give her a warning and then possibly look at some form of discipline. Make sure you spend one on one time with her! |

Since you have another child plus a baby on the way, perhaps she is doing it to get your attention. You should approach it from two ways.
1. give her lots of praise when she is gentle with either you or her brother - make a special effort to say things like "Oh Emilie you are being so gentle with your brother I am very proud of you", or "I love it when you give me a nice hug/kiss" or "It makes me happy to see you playing so nicely with your brother". 2. If she hits or bites again, explain when she hits that it hurts and makes you feel sad. You could tell her that next time she hits or bite she will have to go to 'time out' and sit in the corridor on a chair away from you for 2 minutes. The first option works the best but the second can be good for backing it up. Also can you make sure you have some special time with just her every day, even if it just a special story time at night or something. |

I will take her out tomorrow after school when Charliey Finn is with my mum for the day! |

I read her a story at night but durning that time Charliey Finn wakes up and cries! |
