I never used to moisturise my feet before, but I do now after a shower. Doesn't seem t be helping though. I used to use pumice to get the hard bits off, but now I use those things that look like mini cheese graters (what my MIL calls them!) and it gets rid of the hard bits temporarily, but the cracks come back.

I was going to try those foot creams you can get from the chemist, but not sure if they work or not.

What do you use for cracked heels?

I've found Eulactol Gold works well but you need to be obsessively vigilant - cream every morning and evening, use the planer daily, and extra foot cream during the day if you have time and inclination.

I have the same problem and the only thing that helps are the creams. But my probably is that I forget to use it. They are best if you put it on, the. Socks and leave overnight.

I saw something on tv the other day that said not to use pumice stones or the graters as it is really easy to get infections.

I had terribly cracked heels. I was vigilant with washing & drying and then putting heel balm & clean cotton socks on twice a day. It didnt take long to remedy. I did not pumice. I asked my beautician about it and it came down to me wearing thongs while watering the plants & getting wet feet. Im sure it only took 10 - 14 days and no problems since.

I'm a sufferer as well and can get nasty deep cracks. I've had the Avon Footworks cracked heel relief cream - amazing stuff & cheap. When mine were bad I'd put it on after my shower & in the morning. They've long healed up now & I just put it on at night now.

Oh yeah, like previous people, put some socks on after especially at night.

I use a rough edged foot paddle once a week in the bath, a foot cream from the chemist daily, and about once every 3 mths I use a blade to get back to zero build up. But regular pedicures would be my idea of bliss!

I will be still and know you are God.
just out of interest, I used to have terrible cracked heels. So bad it was embarrasing to be seen without shoes on and they would bleed from the deep cracks.

I was put on Thyroxine about 3 months ago for a low thyroid and the cracked heels have completely repaired themselves.

Turns out that cracked heels are a symptom of Low thyroid and I had battled with the heels ( and low thyroid) for years and years, not knowing that was the problem!
Not saying that everyone with cracked heels has a Thyroid issue.... but hey! you never know wink.gif
