I want a new oven, mine is horrid and I went shopping and the Harvey Norman people were pushing the Belling brand which seems like a good oven. I don't want to replace my current oven with another ordinary oven so just asking if anyone loves their oven and what is the brand? I need an upright electric 54cm max under $1,500??

So is Belling a good brand or something else?

I'll swap you my experience for a piggy back/hijack on your thread, since I came in to ask the same question wink.gif

We built last year, builder sales guy talked me out of a Meile and into a Baumatic. I did also visit our local Retravision who highly recommended the Baumatic - the guy said something like "quality is as good as Meile but half the price". Oh the lies! wacko.gif

In 10 months, at no time have both our Baumatic rangehood and oven been working - ie we have had one broken at all times. The rangehood, even when working "as it should" can barely hold a piece of paper up at maximum suction and is so loud even in our large open plan living area you can't watch TV or have a conversation when it's on. After dozens of calls over those months, I have finally told the builder to come and remove both appliances ASAP (even though Baumatic had eventually offered me a replacement) and I am demanding the builder give me a refund. The quality has been horrendous but even worse, the customer service from Baumatic's local agent and call centre absolutely pitiful. So, I would avoid Baumatic at ALL COSTS (although, if you're considering Belling, you are probably not looking at the cheap brands anyway!).

From my oven research online, and I suspect my experience at Retravision, a resounding theme seems to be that salespeople get different margins/commissions/whatever on various brands and their recommendation or otherwise often relates to that. I haven't read much in the way of reviews online on Bellings though.

So, once I get my teeny tiny cheque back from the builder, I need to find a 90cm standalone oven/cooktop (as well as a wad of cash it looks like sad.gif). I am leaning towards a Bosch HSB745256A, as I have and am in love with my Bosch dishwasher and front loader. So here's my hijack OP, sorry and I hope you don't mind, but can anyone comment on the quality of Bosch ovens? Or recommend a quality brand of oven that does a 900mm freestanding dual fuel unit?

Thanks and sorry again OP ! original.gif

Stressed....Whose Stressed...Who Said That!
I have a Falcon Classic Electric 90cm stand alone oven, it is also out of your price range but I love it.

My second choice would have been a Meile, I love my Meile Dishwasher, it was recommended to me from others on EB and I love it, I also have a Meile vacuum cleaner which I found to be way better than the Dyson I was recommended.

It's so hard to find the right one, so many people recommending different brands...I also looked through reviews of ovens online.

Good luck

Lynn

is it only a dream that there'll be no more turning away?
I want a Rayburn. Free standing, wood burning and used to boost our hot water, heating and off grid power in the winter. Now to convince DH that getting one would not be "steampunking" his sleek, minimalist designs.

OP - Meile are great, a good workhorse. That's what we had in our last house. My mum's and MIL's Westinghouse ones are still charging along after 30 years too. My Technika is a load of underpowered rubbish.

I have an old Miele, came with the house. Love it. I particularly love the fast heating option.
When I need a new oven I'll get a pyrolytic one.

Thanks for the feedback. Damn, I did think maybe a good oven was out of my price range, maybe I will hold on and save some more for a better oven. I don't want to waste money on another crap oven.....

Love my Bosch. It's pyrolitic though so probably out of your price range - no idea what it cost, as it came with the house, but I'd buy one again if I moved.

We have an AEG Electrolux. 90cm wide. Have an Ilve stove top.

Love the AEG. It has a pizza stone shelf you can insert and the pizzas and breds i can make are great. Has a timer etc and you can have it on to cook and turn off when you are not home. Seems easy enough to clean. Looks nice too. You cook on the trays provided instead of using individual ones.

The Ilve - not happy with. It has a high top and the way our kitchen design is i can't reach the back of the stove top. Not all the burners work and it is new. Not that easy to clean and it can stain easily. When i have something on the back part i turn the clickers on - one of these days my boobs wll ignite.

I have a Belling gas freestanding oven and love it. I love the glass top that closes so that you have extra bench space when you're not using it.

The only disconcerting thing was when we first used the oven the flame was burning so high. I was used to a small blue flame so rang them to ask if there may have been a problem with it. Apparently that is just the way they work.
