I have been there but in LDC. It was a friend, but not a close friend. She dsclosed info to me whilst at work and I had to report it. I told her and lost her trust and friendship.
Based on my previous experience I would not tell her you are/will make a report. In my case they did not do anything with my report except file it. If I had of waited one more day I would not have worried about telling her.
Go through the keep them safe guide and find out for yourself if you need to make a report.

I would make the report. The situation needs to be checked out and she needs some support. It's tough when it's a friend but these children may need someone to speak up for them.
