I see a bad-ass mother who don't take crap off of nobody
I have a uni oral presentation powerpoint to do and among my list of topics to choose from were stereotyping and otherisation. Racking my brain to think of what to do it on and then it falls right into my lap. So the point of this is the European Commission is doing a campaign to encourage women to the field of science by challenging the stereotype that science is for men. That is commendable, but stupidly by doing so they did this horrible ad that stereotypes women even worse and I thought the ladies of EB would appreciate this.

So ladies, study science, because, you know, you get to play with make up and dress like a model.

I thought it was a Myer ad until the end. Oh, the lipstick as an "I", how embarassing.

Isn't it horrible? I am doing a 8-9 minute talk on it. I've written 7 minutes worth already (a minute in that is the clip as well) and I feel I could talk for another 10 minutes extra on it.

This beautiful drowning ...
Ugh.

Where are the closed-toe shoes, lab coats and safety goggles?

Also, apparently chemistry is the only science that exists. Oh, and there were some computer chips. But nothing to suggest they might be interested in physics, biology, or any other branch of science.

At least there was only one shot of an 'attractive' male in there. Maybe the stunned look he was giving them had less to do with their 'attractiveness' and more to do with their disregard of all lab-clothing rules.

And the fact that they stopped to pose every two seconds. Maybe he thought they were demented.

How much nicer would it have been to do a advertisement that had women scientists talking about their experiences and achievements.

The ad got pulled so quick due to ridicule but not before someone uploaded it to youtube first, (thank god, now I have a topic lol).
