Does anyone know about how long it takes for a newborn child claim for family assistance/baby bonus takes to process?
I handed my form in at medicare office last tuesday and just wondering when to expect it all to be processed.
This isnt first bub so i already am registered for and receiving fortnightly ftb' for my other kids so wasnt required to make an online claim i believe just the paper form.

2-3 weeks seems to be average.

My 3rd was born in December and it took 3 months to get the first BB payment. That was 'rushed' though as well because we were 700km's from home and he was in the NICU. I know other people that had December babies and it took longer.

That's correct, if you already receive FTB then no online claim to lodge, just your hospital document. And I've been advised up to 35 days for processing of claims at the moment.

Ok thanks for the replies. I guess its just a wait and see situation then and could be anytime. Not desperate for the money anyway so no problems with having to wait a while!!

According to the Centrelink woman I spoke to on the phone at the end of June it can take up to 35 days to process at this time of year.
It took two weeks for DS2's Baby Bonus to process, he was on the 27th of July if that's any help. Needless to say because I was expecting it to take over a month I made a frantic phone call to Centrelink to find out what that money that had suddenly appeared in my account was for

35 Days is great!
I'm with Bek mine took about 50 days to process it AND I'd already sent in the main form!

Wow. Any idea why it takes so long for Dec babies? My first is due mid-Dec so I'm guessing I'll have a long wait too.

I put our form in on a Tuesday and money was in our bank following Thursday. Was also told it could take 30 days at this time of the year, but we were lucky
