Hi,

I have started to wean my DD onto formula starting with a sachet of formula today. My DD seemed to take it without batting an eyelid.

It is my plan to have DH give two bottles of formula a day (Mon-Fri) with the other 3 feeds being breastmilk once I am home from work in the afternoon.

I understand that the tins of formula need to be discarded a month after opening. Just wondering how many feeds of 200mls do you get out of a tin? Are there different size tins? It's just that I don't want to end up throwing out lots of formula at the end of the month. I know that sachets are available, but want to make the most economical choice.

Thanks - Wendy

hi wendy,

my baby girl has 4 200ml bottles per day and a tin would last me roughly a week to ten days i think.

sorry if i sound a bit like a mathematician, but how i work it out is a tin is 900grams, 1 scoop is 7.2grams. so one tin would get you 125 scoops. (4 scoops per 200ml bottle = about 31 bottles.

so if you think you would use 31 bottles in a month then you wouldn't be wasting any of the tin.

hope that helps.

Kelly

The post above (the maths was very impressive!) sounds right- my DD has 3 200ml bottles per day and a tin lasts over a week- 10 days sounds about right.

Thanks very much ladies. Sounds like I would easily use up a tin within a month.
