Hi
Just wondering with solids ; should i be offering solids before her bottle (i have tried this on number of occasions though she gets very upset she just wont eat her solids till she has had her milk first). Or does it not matter which way it happens ?

thank you

As a general rule it is advised to give milk first up to about the age of 9 months then solids first. I still BF and give solids in between feeds instead, usually about 1/2 hours to 45 minutes after BF. The main concern with the milk first is that the BM of formula should still be the main food.

Hi there,

we started off giving BF then solids but after a month switched things round and found it worked fine - she bolts down her solids and then is happy to have a good BF...She still takes the same amount as when I BF her first and it's a nice way to finish off a meal, particularly at dinner time before bed! Our child health nurse suggested that was the best way to go (initially BF first and then switching over) and it seems to have worked great. Have also found that doing it that way with her three meals a day, it frees me up a bit more as she's going longer between feeds. Hope that helps!
