Hi,

I just wondered if Ip's got much of a response from posting their story here on this site???

I know that I replied to someone from here that turned out to be relative and now they have a little girl through our process original.gif but do others get the perfect match as well????

Who has found a ED?

Who is still looking?
CindyK
AND she is just beautiful aint she!

It's hard to tell as unfortunately a lot of recipients don't return to let us know what has happened - nature of the beast I guess. We have another ED baby and an SD baby on the way from advertising on here, and as you can tell by previous closed ads, lots of matches which hopefully lead to fruition!

Get asked a bit about how 'successful' advertising is, but hard to trace it properly, and to be honest, if people don't come back and check in, don't want to intrude on their privacy either.

Good question - maybe we'll get some lurkers out of the woodwork!

Love

Hi Cindy,

Thanks Yes you are right she is So cute and her parents are just so proud original.gif makes me feel lucky to have been a part of it. iykwim

I have had one Pm in response to this questions but that person sadly has not found a match yet. sad.gif Fingers crossed for them though.

Yes I guess it would be very hard and you are right when you say that we do not want to intrude on their privacy.

That is fantastic news about the ED and SD babies on their way.

Thanks Jodie

Hi Jodie

Having just signed up I can't answer your question but being a question that I had wondered myself and being a public health researcher, I'd had a browse of the various posting and couldn't really follow anyones path to see. As you know I found this site because of Kim but I had looked at one in the UK and that forum was set up by a private fertility care group and so i think many of their own patients used it and that had encouraged other to join in. The recipients of eggs/embryo's seem to have remained in the forum but I think this was mainly due to the egg share programme they have, where you'll have donor and recipient following the same initial path and the outcome for both are supported.

I wonder if we could try two new threads, one requesting donor views the other recipiants. Alternativly we could do an anonymous poll, if the admin group could set this up, as I'm sure that usenames become very familiar, and this could potentially lead to others matching the donor and recipient. I'd be happy to give any help required if a poll was a good idea or a short questionnaire.wacko.gif

Hey Lesley

Perhaps two short questionaires better way of capturing responses than poll, as poll options are quite limited. Good on you for offering to do it (!), would be great to get an idea of where/how donors and recipients are finding each other in the broader sense, beyond EB as well eg. Internet - EB, other parenting forum, AED, other;
and
Clinic waiting list / newspaper ad / magazine ad / friend/relative / overseas / other.

Would be great to see what response there is - are certainly IPs/Donors who don't call this forum 'home' but who wander through every now and then. I think perhaps, as you noted with the UK care groups, there are support groups away from the very public forums of EB where many donors and recipients gather together, or in separate groups for support in a private and secure environment....

The AussieEggDonor group has close to 200 members, made up of donors/recipients/embryo donors at all stages of the donation journey, mostly known, but also anonymous and overseas donation.
Eggdonorchat is a group for donors only which has about 30 members.
There are also a few support groups on yahoo, couple for recipients etc.

So privacy is a big issue - most of the ladies who feel comfortable posting about their ED journeys on here are old EB girls who call this place home anyway, while nearly all of the recipients who have come here to advertise have gone elsewhere for less public support - is interesting.

Let's see what happens! Go for it.

Thanks for that Cindy

I'm able to do a short questionnaire, the thinking caps on and DH away for 10days, input on questions would be useful. I'm fairy computer literate, but I've never done an online questionnaire. The easiest way for responses would be a pop up screen when anyone clicks on to one of the conception links I think and the filling in should be tick boxes. But someone would need to convert the questionnaire to be an online version.

When the info is collected I can then look at it and give the forum the results.

If anyone has questions they think needs including send me a personal message as it will be easier to keep them together

Lesley.

Oh and just to keep you posted I'm seeing a specialist on monday in hope of going on an Egg/Embryo donor list.
CindyK
Hey Lesley

Oh goodness you high flyer! I was envisaging just a basic questionaire as the first post with everyone copy/pasting and filling out their own info in following posts. I'm pretty certain EB doesn't have the capacity to punch out the properly correlated beast you suggest....and a lot of effort for maybe 30/40 respondants if we are lucky??

Maybe we need a way for those who wish to remain anonymous to include their answers as well, probably PM would suffice.
leisurly
The reason I thought it would be better as a stand alone quest is that it could be done anonymously and might also capture those who are not members, alternatively we could set up a survey account so that anyone filling in the quest would be able to do so by using the survey logon. when complete we can close the account. Would that work

Lesley

Hi Lesley

I don't know anything about online surveys, so will leave it in your capable hands!
jodestar
Wow Ladies It looks like it is a done deal then. original.gif

Thanks Lesley for putting your hand up to do this as I do not know my way around a computer that well.

I will wait for the results if we can get ppl to reply.

Cheers Jodie
