Hey there,
Was just wondering what you all got your partner for their first fathers day?? I need some ideas and my brain isn't behaving at the moment!! lol
My Df has really suprised me with how he is with our little girl. I knew he would be a great dad but really wasn't expecting......how do I word it??.......him to be so totally involved so early on.....that doesn't sound right, I hope you know what I mean!! And he has been very much my saviour, especially early on!! lol So I just really want to get him something special.....and thinking about it, it might just set the mark for my first mothers day!! ehehehe
Money really isn't an issue.....just as long as it's not a 2 metre plasma TV or anything!!
Any ideas would be great!!

how about
- those molds of feet and hands
- photo engraving on a 'dog-tag' on a necklace
- photo onto canvas of the two of them
- a shirt embroided or printed with a picture of your DD where the branding normally is.

I bought DH a Hornby train set, so that he could play with it with my son, as he got older. I added to it each year

Hi Rinna
Something inexpensive that I did was make a living fathers day card, I bought and art sketch book, and did hand prints of DS and some photo's, found a nice poem, stuck in a page of his art and then wrote a page of things I like to do with my dad, each year we have updated it and DS loves the idea he is making a special book for daddy and this year we will include some pages for DD, I will also be a nice keepsake for them when they are older and want to look back. Just a thought.

I got two things i know my DH wants - a clock in the shape of a car wheel for his shed and a weather monitor thingy - where it collects rain and does the temp and all that.
I bought a card from me and one from DS (7mths). I am going to try and put a hand print of DS in the card from him.

Feel free photofry7

, hope your DH loves it as much as mine did - it is something different and I am sure will change over the years as the kids get bigger, and it is easier to keep together than a whole heap of cards!!! Have fun

Can anyone please tell me where you can get the photo engraved dog tags from? I have been searching everwhere for them to no avail!
Thanks!

An idea that I cherish is something my hubby has done for me every year for mothers day, but you can always adapt it for any one. He gets an A4 sheet of paper and types messages on it from the kids, telling me how they appreciate everything I do. He puts their handprints on it and a funny photo of each kid (we only have 2), then he frames it. So simple, but I love it and have kept each one every year, now I have a little gallery of these wonderful memories.
Very surprising to come from my hubby, and thats also why I treasure this simple, but thoughtful gift every year.

Thanks Soni

Soni,
I have a 3 week old baby and am looking at doing a similar thing for fathers day. Are you able to post the poem you used?
Thanks!

Hi Bella8
Here is the one I used last year as we were renovating and I started the book with an under construction page.
For Daddy
Your the finest dad I ever saw (i inserted a sticker of a saw inested of the word)
You suit me to a T
And none can measure up to you
That's plane enought to see
So strictly on the level dad,
I'm proud as punch to say
Your the greatest dad of all
So Happy Fathers Day
I used stickers where I could like a level, tape measure.
This year I will use a verse from here:
http://www.dennydavis.net/poemfiles/fthrpoem.htmhaven't decided which one yet but has some great ideas.
Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks so much for that, what a gorgeous and clever poem.
In the meantime I also found these ones..
This is my hand
My hand will do
A 1000 loving things with you
And you will remember
When I am tall...
That once my hand
Was just this small
-------
Here is my hand
So tiny, so small
to hang somewhere
upon your wall.
I made this perfect gift to share with you today,
It is one of a kind, and very unique, yet it changes everyday.
It can hold on tight and wave good-bye, it can even say hello,
It is a part of me that will grow to be, like Daddy's when I am old.
I give to you my Handprint it is baked forever in clay,
It's my way of saying "I love you", on your special day!

I got my husband a mug with a photo of him and our DD on it. And a carton of beer! I'm sure he will love both!

I got DH a muffler for his car (thats what he wanted), plus the MASH series DVD (we have been slowly building the collection).
I never thought of a case of beer. I should have got that for my dad instead of racking my brains for something...
