I was reading on a website that if you have an oversupply of milk, one way to ensure that baby is getting all the hindmilk is to feed 2 feeds in a row off the same side. I usually feed off the one side and tend to have a lot of milk (esp overnight and mornings). DS' feeds are quick and he doesn't always empty the breast in the one feed so to do 2 feeds in a row off the one breast would not be a problem in terms of supply.
Has anyone ever done this?
Can anyone see any problems with doing this?
THe other suggestion was breast compressions- anyone used this method?
Thanks

I have heard of offering the same breast 2 feeds in a row when dealing with a serious oversupply - usually baby is very colicy too, & has green frothy poos indicating lactose overload. It could be worth trying, but be guided by your baby too - does he seem satisfied after the second feed on the one side, or is he looking for more, and how many wet nappies is he having... (The best way to know how much is going in, is check how much is coming out original.gif 5-6 heavy disposables is a normal output)

I was under the impression breast compressions were more useful when dealing with a low supply, where you are trying to make sure all the milk is squeezed out...

lactose overload may be a problem with bub and we are currently seeing a paed due to his rainbow poos
today we have been trialling 2 feeds/side and he is satisfied after each feed and has good output of wet and dirty nappies- definitely not left hungry.
