After a few weeks of trial and error Shea is now mostly getting to the potty (I have moved it to the family room so he doesn't hvae to leave the TV ) if he is naked, but the minute I put any sort of bottoms on him (pullup, terry training pants or cotton undies) he wets them! Even if I put a t-shirt on it gets pulled down between his legs and played with so are all getting stretched out of shape.

I have no idea how to move to the next step. I have tried the ""character name on pants" doesn't like getting wet so please remember to take your pants off and sit on the potty", but that doesn't seem to work. The rewards for getting to the potty aren't working either. he doesn't have a concept of time so I don't think a reward for 30 minutes dryness would work either.

He starts preschool in a few weeks and I would love to be a bit further advanced than this as I will lose 4 dpw of allowing him to be naked when we're at home, and am usually out the other days!

BTW - I have cleared with Dept of Ed that they will allow him to attend not TT due to his special needs in case anyone thinks I am pushing for that reason. It is purely the lack of at home practise time to continue training that I am worried about.

I have the same issue with my DD. No accidents in days and days when she's got no pants on, but the moment she gets undies or shorts on, she wets them. I'll be keeping my eyes on this thread for advice.
At this stage I've just gone back to reminding her constantly "do you need to do wees or poos? Don't forget to pull your undies down". It feels like a backwards step to me, but I'm sure it's probably one step back for two steps forward.

DD was doing the same thing when she was TTing. I made sure that we had plenty of undies in stock and stayed home for a couple of days (just as we did when we were TT without pants) and would ask her every half hour or so if she needed to go to the toilet. We had lots of accidents the 1st day or 2 but she eventually got the hang of it. I think it was the sensation of having something (fabric) between her legs that made her regress for a day or 2 but as I said we just persisted and practiced.

Thanks Kylie, we may be getting somewhere as yesterday when we came home his pull-up was virtually dry, and he went on the potty on request when I removed it. Still not him removing it but may be a start?
