A few hours ago I accidentally let Ali put her head under the water in the bath! It looked like she just inhaled the water! God it scared me, coz she didn't do anything straight away - didn't cough, cry, nothing. After a few seconds she made movements like she was going to vomit, but didn't. Then she kind of just "got better". She seems perfectly fine now, smiling, talking and then going to sleep! Argh, but I'm not fine! Can you get secondary drowning if it wasn't technically a "near drowning"? Ahhh cry1.gif cry1.gif cry1.gif I called NT Health Direct and they reassured me she's fine coz she would have coughed if the water was in her lungs or I'd be able to hear it crackling. But still. I'm not going to sleep a wink tonight! My poor baby! How could I let this happen to her?

Hmm, just needed to let that out and have a little cry about it. I'm sure she's fine and I am waaaaay overreacting. But boo hoo hoo! I feel so terrible!

To any other mother's out there, do not hesitate to call NT Health Direct if you are in the slightest bit worried about ANYTHING! They are really really nice and supportive and don't make you feel like a silly paranoid mother.

OK, I really need to calm down and stop being silly. Sorry.

oh Kristen . .. it is a scary moment when that happens. Eve has had gulps of bath water adn coughed but nothing that would give me a panic. It would have been a shock for Ali hence the lack of movement for some moments.

What did make me a bad mummy was ... unstrapping Eve from the high chair and I turning away for 1 second .. she leaned over and I saw her fall out and bang her head on the tiles. How she managed to NOT have any bruises or bumps or anything I don't know but it freaked me out.

It is something I knew not to do but it happened.

oh Kristen, I know how you feel. You get such a fright and then can't stop worrying about it.
Sounds like it bothered you more than Ali, little water baby.
If it makes you feel any better, I thought I had drowned Levi when he was a few weeks old, I turned him onto his tummy to float him for a bit before i got him out, and i must have just lowered my arm to low for a second, and he got a mouthful. I felt so awful, he was just silent and didn't move maybe for a couple of seconds and I had 1000 things racing through my head, it seemed like forever. He had a little cough and then he was fine.

I hope you are a bit more calm now so you can get a bit of sleep original.gif

blush.gif Thanks for indulging me in my little panic moment guys.

I know these things will happen, but it doesn't make you feel better at the time does it! Letting it out really did help though (and sounds like it helped you over your little trauma Heidi original.gif )

Thanks for making me feel better everyone bbighug.gif We're all great mummys aren't we!!!
