Just wanted to let you all know DD is doing really well after her surgery. A little cuddly (which mummy is ok with) and subdued compared to normal but well considering. We took her home the same day and she goes back in two weeks for a check up. It wasn't the easiest day as she didn't go in till just after 9am and she was not allowed to be fed so she had the most heartbreaking cry ever. It wasn't easy seeing her come out afterwards either and her little body dealing with the local and general and everything else. We are getting there though. Thank you to all those who wished us all the best. Your thoughts were appreciated.

Hmm.. must go buy her a nappy to tell her how proud I am that she is so brave! any excuse to buy more nappies

So what special nappy are you going to buy for her?

She had a hernia operation on her upper groin area, just below her stomach. They did both sides and she has two big long cuts. We noticed a slight lump on one side when she was 5 or so weeks old.

Hmmm what nappy should I buy. any suggestions? Needs to be bamboo and really absorbent. Or a fitted or cover. Or even some cute clothing for summer to go with a nappy.

I think you should buy yourself something as well, that would have been really tough to go through.

Channy, Austin had a hernia op in May, and yep watching him come out of the anesthetic was so hard, the memory of watching him be put under will stay with me forever too, I was crying but trying to be brave for him (its making me cry now just thinking about it)

They are incredibly ressilient though, Austin bounced back so fast. We can hardly see his scar now.

ETA: wow they did it fast! We noticed the lump with Austin when he was about 8 months, and they ended up doing the op as an emergency the same day as we had our specialist appt, when he was about 13 months. The op would have been scheduled for a few months from the specialist appt too. Unfortunately his kept getting obstructed and irreducable, we ended up in emergency twice because of it. They kept him in the second time and did the op the next day... What an experience

Scuttle - They would not let me watch while they put her under, they just took her away screaming. Hers was fairly deep and I think they were worried it could obstruct her bowel. They did get her in quickly once we saw the specialist. The staff at the hospital were lovely and brought me drinks and sandwiches and a TV and toys for DS. I can't believe you ended up at the hospital twice before they did anything! Here I was told if I had to take her to emergency at all if it obstructed anything it would be emergency surgery straight away. They taped her eyes shut too so she looked awful.

Poor little thing is in some pain today and won't be put down and not sleeping well. She has a bruise on each of her hands too from the drip and needles.

yeah the first time I didn't really know what was happening. I had noticed that it was sticking out and hard, but no-one had really explained it all to me, then DS started vomiting, but the time I got him to hospital he was vomiting bile. They had to give him morphine so they could reduce it, then they sent us home. They gave us some stuff to make his poo soft so that it wouldn't cause the hernia to pop out when he was going.

It was about 3 weeks later the next time it was irreducable, this time we took him straight to ER and they admitted him straight away, we didn't even have to sit in the waiting room. They couldn't reduce it at all that time, so they admitted him to the ward. Then they did the op the next day.

Its so traumatic, so I know how you are feeling. I hope she is feeling much better soon, poor thing.

Sounds like not only is your gorgeous little girl a little brave one but you sound very brave too Chantell... I think I would be an absolute wreck if it was my Chloe in that position (or Hayley too but Chloe being younger and not understanding )

I wish her a very speedy recovery and I think you need to go and text your favourite WAHM and ask if they could make you a special custom nappy in her honor
