Hi there,

It is pretty hot here, and DD is unwrapping herself during her sleep anyway. So what I want to know is how do I stop wrapping her. I know the best way is to go cold turkey, but what I want to know is, how do you go about your routine.

DD is wrapped, and that is her signal that it is bedtime. I am worried that she wont recognise bedtime if she isn't wrapped. ANy ideas.

I just use Muslin wrap, nice and light, just holds him together basically original.gif

I want to stop wrapping him also, I think most people say a bit at a time, leave one arm out, then another, then just wrap around body

I will try it soon also original.gif

Have you tried using a cot sheet to wrap her? Or this technique?

Other than that there are many other things you can do at sleep time that give her the message it is time for bed. We read stories, say goodnight to the dog as we close his blinds, and I sing a song as I wrap him, but you could just sing it as you put her down. I then always say "Mummy loves you have a good sleep" and give him a kiss. Funnily enough I still do the same things with my DD who is 2.5,just now she dictates which songs I sing and they have to be in a specific order laughing2.gif

I would just be worried that she still has the startle reflex, my CHN told me that 4 months would be the minimum to stop wrapping, that was if there were no problems though.

Good luck

I stopped wrapping gradually. So I started with during the day sleeps only wrapping from the waist down. Then we progressed to a light sleeping bag for nights. I still wrap from the waste down during the day and I use a muslin wrap. It just seems to keep his legs down so they aren't up in air. Eventually I will either stop wrapping his legs for the day and put him in his sleeping bag for day sleeps too.

We kind of went cold turkey at 9 weeks because she was struggling to get out of the wrap and getting very upset.

I used to wrap, then pick her up and have lying in my arms while I quietly talked or just had a little walk around the bedroom, then I'd put her down while still awake. She'd yell a bit, I'd pat/sing a bit and she'd gradually doze off after I'd stopped patting/singing.

So we do everything the same - walk/talk cuddle in arms, put down then pat, sing. The only difference is that she's in the sleeping bag.

I kept one arm unwrapped for a few nights and then swapped him to a sleeping bag. He was fine.
