how do you tell if bubs is lactose intolerant?

Our story is similar to PP, it became so obvious when we put him on a LF formula as his poos suddenly had some consistency to them. I didn't realise until then that he had had diarhhea since birth (I had nothing to compare it to till then).

Our paed said not to worry that many bubs have problems with lactose when they are bubs but they grow out of it. It can also be due to a lactose overload. We tried probiotics as this is supposed to help build up the good bacteria in the gut but unfortunately DS refuses to take it and he won't drink anything that it is mixed with.
