I've just bought a Tommee Tippee mesh feeder, which I'm really happy with, except for the cleaning issue! It looks like a breeding ground for germs!!

Does anyone sanitise theirs, or just wash it with warm water and soap (as recommended?) I tried boiling it today, but was worried the mesh would melt.

I just wash mine with hot water and detergent. I have a little brush that I give it a good scrub with. I rinse it after every use to get most of the solid bits out of it as sometimes I can't wash it straight away and don't want it sitting around in the sink with gunk on it.

If you are worried, you can get replacement "nets" for most brands of mesh feeders. So after you have used it a couple of times you can start with a fresh net.

I rinse the food off after each use and make sure that it completely air dries, for a good wash I put it in the dishwasher when it is on a really hot cycle.

I used to get bent out of shape about the sanitiser, but then remembered that a crawling baby will put anything in their mouth and likely eat a few of them before you realise so relaxed a little bit about it

I rinse mine out straight away but they are really hard to get all the bits out - I now put it in the dishwasher and this seems to get all the bits out. I made the mistake of not buying the one with the replacement net!

I actually just opened the packet for my DD's Tommee Tippee one today. The packet said to brush the mesh with a toothbrush to get the food out. I am going to try it right now.

I found the key to keeping those things clean was to wash them thoroughly as soon as bubs is finished with it. I once left a mauled strawberry in it on the bench when we went out and boy was that a difficult thing to get all the bits out. I wouldn't worry about sterilizing it either, if you really want to you could always get one of those washing liquids with anti-bacterial stuff in it.
