Ive just realised i have made a mistake on my tax return done by Etax last monday, i read the figures wrong on one of my group certs and have pu the wrong $figure in, it should be increased by $171, is it too late to amend it? what if comes through tomorrow? What happens?

i cant remeber which forms u need but you can ring the ATO and they will tell you which ones .
My friend did hers and remembered that there was something she missed.
she has got her tax refund now but all she has to do is fill the forms in and they will amend it and send u a refund or a bill depending on the situation.

i think u have 56 days either from when you lodge or receive your return not sure now which one.

We lodged an amendment for 2007 recently and someone here pointed me to this page. It has a very easy form you fill out and send in.

You can definitely amend it. There is no time limit.

I would wait until you get back your notice of assessment though, because there is a slim chance that the ATO may pick up your error in their matching (because it is information that came of your group certificate).

I sen tof an ammendment letter today by express post, i didnt realise i had any replies to this thread. No income or anyhting showing on FAO yet - maybe coz DH hasnt done his tax yet so hopefully i will make it in time z
