Just wondering what others use for beef strognoff?
I made it awhile back using pre cut beef strips but it turned out quite chewy so what is the best cut to use to get tender meat as a result?
Also how do you cook yours? I cooked mine in a fry pan, would oven of been better?

I would use either topside steak or round steak for a quick stroganoff, or if you are wanting to cook it for longer in the oven or stove stop (on low heat for a good couple of hours) i would use oyster blade or any kind of trimmed stewing steak.
The recipe i like to use to make a stroganoff is
500g topside steak or round steak cut into strips
1 jar dolmio tomato sauce
mushrooms slice (optional)
1 300ml cream, could also use a tub of sour cream and omit lemon juice.
good squeese of lemon juice
Brown strips in batches in hot pan. If adding mushrooms add to pan now and cook. Then add browned meat back to hot pan, and cover with sauce, cook till sauce heated through take of heat and add cream and lemon juice, or sour cream. Serve with pasta or rice. Or yummy with mashed potato and steamed vegies.

I use rump or porterhouse if cooking on stove top. My husband hates stroganoff though so looks like I'll have to wait until visiting mum and dad next month before my next strog fix
