DS is allergic to dairy,egg,shellfish and nuts. I thought it might be a good idea to tell each other about the products available around Easter time that are suitable for kids with allergies.

We always get socks at Easter time. Odd, I know and I dont know how it started but we give family socks.

'Treat' wise the kids have gluten free marshmallows and this year they will get a block of the rice milk chocolate. I cant remember the brand name, but I posted about it a while back.

I'm also going to make shortbread biscuits with nutlex and ground rice (the kids like them) and I'll decorate them with icing made with nutlex, pure icing sugar and vegetable colouring.

I am in Brisbane (don't know where your from) but wondering if you could tell where you bought the rice milk chocolate from.. I've googled and so far come up with the brand Bonvita but only seen it available on mail order vegan site. Where you able to purchase it over the counter anywhere?

My DS#2 is allergic to dairy, egg and nuts so I find Easter a challenge - he usually ends up with a few Sweet Williams bunnies but I dont find them very practical.

I did notice the Natural Confectionery Co have got Easter bunny lollies again this year. I saw them in Woolies last week so will be getting a pack for him.

My DD is allergic to egg, dairy and soy. It's the combination of dairy and soy that's the real pain when it comes to chocolate because nearly all of the dairy/nut free ones still contain soy. I've ordered some Plamil chocolate online from allergyblock and have had a trial at melting it down and setting it in moulds. It seems to have worked, but doesn't stay "set" for long when it's removed from the fridge. For anyone that is interested, the mint flavoured one tastes just like an after dinner mint. Quite yum.
Other than that, DD will be getting safe lollies and non-edible treats (stickers, hair clips, etc) in refillable plastic eggs I've purchased.
Will be keeping an idea on this thread to see if there are any more great ideas.

Our children usually get a sweet william chocolate now taht they can be tollerated and something 'special' such as a bean bag or plush toy... this year ideas escape me though as santa brought them a bean bag (didn't think that one through well enough eh)

Target have a chocolate scented bunny plush toy that we will get Dom this year. It smells soooo yummy LOL KMart have a boxed chocolate scented rabbit that is no where near as fragrant. The one at target is around $15.00

Just thought I'd add that I found a block of the Kinnerton Dark chocolate at David Jones Have taste tested it too and its quite yummy..... now to find a recipe I can use it in so I don't eat it all

Carobana have Carob Easter Eggs that are Dairy Free... also normal Carob works for amine reactors (failsafers) obviously. Orders taken until 27 March.

Note: I have checked with them why they are called "carob coated" eggs (like what is it coating) and they said their 'computer guy'... is basically an idiot and just wrote it wrong... they are basically carob buttons melted and made into eggs!

Yesterday I got a packet of those plastic eggs you can fill up with other treats from Woolworths... their 'home essentials' or whatever it is brand (hanging on the front of a shelf IYKWIM)... I think there are 10 (8? 12?) in the packet and they were $4.00. Depending on how we react to the amines challenge we are on, we plan to fill with carob buttons, failsafe 'honeycomb', and home-made failsafe lollipops!

The fillable plastic eggs are usually also available at spotlight. There are 3 different sizes and they were under $2 a pack last year.
