Hi original.gif

I had a D&C last Wednesday (8/4). The bleeding has come and gone and I'm now spotting a little - it's brown with some tissue in it.

I was given a course of antibiotics to take, but lost them after 2 days! I've found them again but not sure whether I should pick up where I left off or not.

Today I'm feeling pretty crook - very run down, snotty, lots of sneezing, bit of a temperature/chill. I've also had a headache for a good while. However we've all been a bit sick, so I'm not sure if it's something I've caught from my kidlets.

Can a uterine infection be present without heavy bleeding? I don't have any pain, just the sick feeling.

If anyone has an experience or advice to share, I would appreciate it original.gif I'll give my doctor a call too.

Thank you!

Hi there,
Firstly I am very sorry for your loss. I do hope you are coping okay.
I had an infection after my D&C and my symptoms were a yucky discharge, after the bleeding had stopped, that had a bad smell. I didn't have any of the other symptoms you describe...otherwise I actually felt okay.
It sounds to me like you are getting a cold/flu rather than a D&C related infection but you should probably check with your doctor just to be on the safe side.
I wish you all the best with your recovery. hugs to you.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to read of your loss. sad.gif

I think you should check with your doctor ASAP as the symptoms you describe could be as the result of an infection. As the PP said it's unlikely, usually the bleeding continues to be present and can often smell offensive, but given that these infection symptoms are present now I think it's definitely better to check it out. The symptoms you describe are quite similar to those you suffer with mastitis, before the redness and swelling starts.

I would definitely head off to the doctor, to be sure.

HTH.

Thanks Emma, that was my thought too - the symptoms are very much like the times I had mastitis. I will get it checked out.

I'm lactating as well now too, my hormones must be going crazy.
