katchababi - congratulations on such wonderful news, hopefully you can relax now and enjoy your PG waiting for your little boy babyboy.gif

As for costs, my OB charges a management fee at 20weeks of $1500, every 2nd appt costs me $90 but the others are free as they are with the midwife and the scans at 8weeks was $127 and 12 weeks $175 and 19 weeks will be $185, blood tests have all been reimbursed and we get back 80% of all the above costs too.

Just found out that my other SIL (brothers wife) is PG and due the 3rd Feb so both my SIL's are due within 3 days of each other (One is DH's brother and the other is my brother) so the family is growing very rapidly bbabyflip.gif

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, EB free tongue.gif

Katchababi!!! Absolutely thrilled for you & the family. Hope you have a sensational weekend especially now with that news. tthumbs.gif tthumbs.gif tthumbs.gif
coopersmummy06
Wow girls how much has the forum changed. It will take some getting used to but I think its fantastic.

Congraulations Katchababi on your little man! I'm so jealous, i'm going to watch all you wonderful ladies find out what your having and I still have to wait until the 5th.

I feel a little bit better, I seem to be getting a fair bit of heart burn especially when I go to bed. I did get alot of heart burn with DS. I think i'll have to get something for it though.

Did anyone else have withdrawals on the weekend. I missed you guys!

I got my tax done on Saturday. It took the woman 3 hours 2 do 2 tax returns and we had a very unhappy DS with us. I think she was new. Anyway I barely got back enough to cover my accountant fee which sucks. Because I changed jobs in the middle of the year and this job pays more I didnt get taxed enough. So normally people get taxed extra, i got taxed $100 under. Not to mention my nearly $1000 medicare levy. Ah well what can you do.

We spent the weekend at home doing washing and cleaning the house, I popped over to see my mum last night as they had her fave chocolate on sale at coles so i got her some. She goes wow your actually starting to look pregnant. I got all excited because I didnt think anyone could tell yet.

I'm definate that i can feel little movements now. Some more strong than others. I seem to have a constant growing pain though. Does anyone else have this?

Anyway I guess I better go do some work. Hope you are all doing well.
Bubsies
Morning ladies - not sure I like the new - look unsure.gif

Will persevere cos I'm addicted anyway lol...I was bored out of my brain too on the weekend!

I ccleaned out all of Haydens toys and matched all the loose pieces with all the other parts etc and he has now rediscovered his lego and spent a good 4 hours with it last night as quite as on the floor and is straight back into it this morning...so cute original.gif

No pains here at all - I think everything was superstretched last time though and had terrible pains from about 8 weeks all the way through so enjoying it so much more so this time around. I have even had strong little pokes over the weekend you could see from the outside even through the waistband on my maternity jeans so I am convinved now there is nothing to worry about and that that little bub in there is developing some nice strong little legs (will probably be cursing it later on lol as it runs out of room in there).

Got to get to work guys - will be back later original.gif

Wow guys! There is alot going on. Everytime I think I've got everything under control I log back in and I have another couple of pages to read. It's fantastic.

Now here goes my personals, some may refer to stuff way back when, so sorry.

Kendall - I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I'd be absolutely devastated. I had enough trouble when I had to put my cat down because he was old and he'd had a great life. As for my dog now, I think I'll have to enter counselling if something happened to him. (Speaking of pets I've heard of a book that you can buy to prepare you furkid for the arrival of the real thing. Does anyone know of it? I have a very very spoilt poodle)

Coopermummy06 - I did reply to your PM about back issues but I'm not sure if I did it properly, if I didn't let me know and I'll try again. Hopefully it worked and you've found something that helps. And as for abdominal pain, I'm with you, nothing serious but just niggling enough to be annoying.

Natasha77 - I have been researching the ergo baby carrier, thank you so much, they look great and I pretty sure I've been converted from the baby bjorn active I was looking at. Even better the ergo is cheaper.

sezzym - so envious of your weekend away, it sounded bliss. My idea of perfect weekend, resting, eating & laughing!

lovebeingamum74 & catnik- I'm glad your checks made all the difference and put your mind at ease. You never think that you could feel so relieved so quickly when that scan's taking place.

mama - Sorry to hear your feeling bleurgh and on top of that the real estate agent. That real estate agent needs a boot up the backside.

bubsies - It's a shame you couldn't hear your bub but if no one was worried, everything will be fine. I'll hands.gif the 18 weeks scan comes quickly for you.

Amysha - That 3am wakeup is the most annoying thing in the world. I lie awake and start to fall asleep at around 4.30 and then my husband's alarm goes off at 5am, and then I have to get up at 6.30am. I have become quite a cranky pants in the morning. I've even considered reverting back to coffee but haven't succumbed yet!

Katchababi- THAT IS THE BEST NEWS! CONGRATULATIONS. When I read your post I actually squealed and luckily I'm the only one in the office this morning otherwise it would have been a little weird and slightly embarrassing.

AFM - thank you all so much for your kind words about my grandmother, she will be missed so much but now I feel that I've got myself a guardian angel and she will make sure everything works out. I have my OB appt tomorrow afternoon so hopefully he can do a quick scan so we can make sure everythings okay. I can't feel anything so like some others I look pregnant but don't really feel it, the limbo thing isn't any fun. My scan is on the 27 July at 9am, both DH & I are really excited. It's funny has anyone else had people be weird about you finding out the sex?

The list of essentials is great. I'm furiously writing down all advice. And thanks for the nappy info, anymore advice would be really helpful. I really want to use biodegradable or re-usable but not the old cloth numbers.

I actually won an emmaljunga pram on eBay yesterday for less than $100 with bassinet. I can't believe it. This means I'll be able to buy any extra stuff for the pram/bassinet I want new without breaking the bank and probably buy another lighter, easier pram for the car down the track. I'll pick it up this week, hopefully it will be in as good a condition as they say, it looked okay in the photos.

I am freaking out though about the size of our house, it's one of those small two bedroom houses typical of Sydney's inner west, last night poor DH just couldn't get the frown of my face as I was trying to work out where on earth everything is going to go! DH got so desperate he's talking about putting in some attic stairs for extra storage. Thank god he's a builder.

Had better get back to work, hopefully I can find time to write more frequently and not have to write such long posts to catch up with everyone!

Have a great day everyone.
keylimepie~
Love the forum change. I think it looks a lot better. More friendly as well. I think it'll be a friendlier place once people start adding friends & photos for all to see.

Welcome Frankie!! Congrats on your PG! tthumbs.gif

coopersmummy06 - I hear you on the growing pains & the indigestion. I probably should stop eating so quickly and/or so much ph34r.gif .

Lots of movements here, especially straight after dinner. Ds is dying to feel them but can't really yet from the outside.

Bubsies - Hmmm lots got done around our place over the weekend as well.

larms - Great to get a pram for those $$!! I hear you on the house size. We've since moved but our last place was a 2 bedroom federation house (read tiny). Luckily we had a huge shed as well & actually had more furinture up there than in our house. The people who bought our place had 3 kids!! oomg.gif Don't know how they do it! You're very lucky your Dh is a builder!!

AFM - My congestion seems to be easing. I've ben sleeping with a humidifier going all night. I also resorted to flushing out my sinuses with salt water, I had to stick the spout of a tea pot up my nose & pour it in. roll2.gif I would have taken a picture if I had a free hand, looked so funny. Anyway seems to have helped! Yay!

School holls started today & DS is off for a play at a mates place so it's especially quiet here. Hping the weather holds up for the next couple of weeks.

My scan is on the 27th at 11am. So it seems a few of us will have some news that afternoon!!

All the best everyone!! original.gif
*kendall*
Hi Mummies & Bubbies, I hope you all had a lovely weekend!!
I got my new Kitty on Saturday- she is adorable, my DS is being so gentle too! I am very proud of him original.gif
Only 2 weeks until I find out if it' s a babyboy.gif or babygirl.gif . YEY!!!

KATCHABABI, YEY on your news of carrying a Bubba babyboy.gif I bet you are all so excited!!!

LARMS, Thanks, it has been really hard with my lil Girl..
your Grandmother will be your Angel, and most of all your Bubba's too!
When a few customers have asked if I am finding out the sex a few people turn there nose up saying.. Why would you want to find out... that's greedy etc... then there are others who say I would find out too!

FRANKIE79, Welcome to the group! I look forward to getting to know you better original.gif

COOPERSMUMMY, I had really bad heartburn with my DS, it has just started now with this bubba too! It's not nice is it.

KATE, My SIL is due a month after me too! It's going to be a busy end of the year and start of the year! Thanks for adding me to the Date scans original.gif

Well I best be off, I am going to have salmon & crackers for lunch original.gif original.gif

Take care everyone.
Love Kendall
Bubsies
When has everyone had their morphology scans (18, 19 or 20 weeks)? We had ours at 20 last time and it is booked for 19 this time but maybe I should leave it another week???? Midwife wrote to be down at 19 in the book, then put 20wks on my card and 18-20wks on referal form so I'm a bit bewildered - If I leave it later will our chances of telling the sex be any more accurate or not? Worse case scenario for us would be to be unable to find out...don't know what I would do then for the rest of this pregnancy!!!! Besides go absoultely CRAZY!!!! AND I MEAN CRAZYYYYYY!!!!! I would feel so unprepared..... shrug.gif

What do you guys think - I went with 19 cos it was in the middle....but maybe I should be patient and leave it until 20wks???

I just had a thought - maybe I should leave it for 19wks incase they can't see all the things they need to and I need to go back - I will still be in the 18-20wks range then???

Oh - Katiebelle? Can you please add my scan date for now as 6th August. Thanks for keeping the list up to date too original.gif
Amysha
Bubsies, I'm booked at 19weeks. The ultrasound clinic just worked out my dates and automatically booked me in that week but when the Doctor asked me when I was going he seemed surprised but didn't tell me to change it or anything.

Is anyone else going to battle the Target Toy Sale? Normally I steer clear but there are so many things I want (baby and b'day/xmas stuff). I dont think I'll go the first day I'll maybe try the second or third. I've been eying off that change table and bassinet in the catalogues but haven't seen them in real life yet.
coopersmummy06
Im booked in for 19 wks, thats around when they said to go. When I was pregnant with DS I had it at 18 wks. This time my referral says 18-20 wks, the midwife said 19 wks and they booked me for 19 wks.

My scan is on 5th August. A little over 3 wks away! Grr the time is gonna go so slow.
catnik
Bubsies I would leave it at 19 weeks! Mine's 19 weeks and a couple of days, I don't think they'd see any more at 20 weeks between the legs IYKWIM so we just have to hope our bubs spread em!

Kendall I bet your new cat is ADORABLE! I bet your DS just loves her. I think pets are so great for kids, and vice versa. Now tell me more about the sleep sheep?

Keylimepie good news re your congestion but had a bit of a chuckle picturing you with a teapot spout up your nose! laughing2.gif!

larms, my mum got us this booklet thing that's about how to introduce your pets to your baby, pretty sure it was a free thing she sent away for....can't think what the darn thing is called but will check when I get home tonight. It's pretty good though, tips like taking something your baby has worn home from the hospital and letting your dog sniff it before you get home with baby etc. Hope everything goes well with your OB appt, I'm exactly like you, packing some junk out the front but can't feel any movement yet! My mum was a bit funny about us finding out the sex, mainly because she doesn't want to know! What I'm not sure about then is whether we will tell anyone? (apart from all of you of course!) Or keep it to ourselves. what's everyone else doing? Nice work on the pram purchase!

welcome Frankie!

Coopersmummy I've been getting uterus pains as well, sometimes it's like mild period pain and I always seem to be more prone later in the day and at night. I asked the midwife about it last week and she said most likely growing pains, and your uterus being 'active' and nothing to worry about. I was getting worried too though, but then when I didn't have them I'd worry! ddoh.gif Good girl getting your tax done! I really need to do mine....from 06/07. oops.

katchababi that is awesome news re your amnio!!! and your babyboy.gif. Such a relief!

Katiebelle great job on the list as usual! wow re both your SIL's being pg as well! it is amazing how many people are pregnant, I told two girlfriends last week I am pg and they told me they are too!! There's definitely a babyboom going on.

hheart.gif to everyone I've missed. Hope you all had a lovely EB free weekend!

Girls I feel awful today, backache and headache, so tempted to go home! but then thought I'd better suck it up and save my sick days for when I REALLY feel bad! Or for when I'm really over it. The weekend really does me in though, think it is all the bending and lifting associated with house chores, whereas when I'm at work I sit on my butt nearly all day. We have our first class at the hospital tonight, early pregnancy class - think they address things like looking after your pelvic floor, back etc. I need that. Really should think about doing something with my pelvic floor unsure.gif.

xCat.
coopersmummy06
Ok Ladies, i'd really like it if you could humour me.

http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/predictsex.Htm

If the link doesn't work let me know but I have tried myself and I got a babygirl.gif! I have also done every single person i know who's date of birth and date of conception we knew and it was right. It even got my son right.

So i'm now curious. Plus a little excited (how silly) that the chinese calendar says im having a girl. So i was hoping you could all indulge me and test it out on any kids you have and then do a guess for this one.
Bubsies
Well - lol - wrong for my son and hopefully wrong for this one lol original.gif

I prefert his chart. I was born O/S so near impossible to work out the timezones in the other one.

The above chart was correct with my last child & this one will supposedly be a babygirl.gif
coopersmummy06
That one said girl too! I hope its right. I pretty much get a girl no matter when i conceive this year. Unless its January. Im excited now. lol

Hello,

This new EB is much better, at least I can see the emoticons now biggrin.gif

Just a quick post from me. DS has gastro and I've been up all night. Who would think one little boy could be so sick sad.gif I'm just really praying I don't catch it as well.

According to those chinese charts DS was meant to be a girl and this bub is meant to be a boy, time will tell.

Cat - I hope your feeling better soon original.gif

Bubsies - I also booked in for the day I'm 19 weeks for the morph scan. My OB said she liked them to be done no earlier then 19w.

Katie - Sounds like you started a pregnacy bug in your family grin.gif

Kendall - Enjoy your new pet.

keylimepie - I'm glad your congestion is slowly going away. Mine is also taking it's time to leave. I think a fair few women here have their scans on the 27th so it will be a very exciting arvo to hear everyones good news.

me - I had to go buy some winter maternity clothes on the weekend. I was really hoping to hold out until spring because I have a lot of spring/summer mat clothes. Anyway no such luck so I've been looking at the cheaper places like Kmart, Bigw and Target and they basically had nothing. So off to Pumpkin Patch I went and actually got some really good clothes for 60% off, I was so happy seeing as I wasn't wanting to spend anymore money on mat clothes.

Have a good evening everyone. I'm hoping for more then 3hours sleep tonight hands.gif
Liana

Hello to all!

I have been a bit out of the loop lately - still battling morning sickness, which is really all
day sickness. Was sick with DD until 20 weeks, so I figure I have another 3 weeks of
looking at my filthy house and then I will be right to get nesting! I hope anyway!!

I have booked my 19/20 week ultrasound today for the 31st, so that is something to
look forward too! I am a tad nervous though. A dear friend was pregnant
and had an early scan at 12 weeks to check dates and there was no heartbeat.....
So sad, would have been so lovely to be pregnant together.... She is doing well though
and is in a good frame of mind so I need to stay positive and look forward to seeing
our little babe!

We have decided not to find out the sex of bub and keep it a surprise. Our DD told
her Nan the other day "Mum is having a baby, but I'm having a sister" - maybe
she is in the know!!!

Have started making a name list, which really hasn't varied all that much from when
we were picking Aisha's name. Would like to stick with a 2 syllable first name and 1
syllable middle name. Having difficulties with short boys names though... quite like
Quinn at the moment...

Plenty of time to worry about that! Need to sort out our house first and where all our
"stuff" is going! Need to have a big bog out! I am having built in robes installed so
that will be fabulous!!! We have no storage! The joys of crappy farm houses!!

Thanks for reading my rabblings!

Liana

..::mama::..
Hey everyone

Hmmmm...the new forum look is different huh? I keep looking in the wrong spot for stuff. It's funny what you get used to.

Just a quick one from me, I have to go and organise DD's bath and bed - we're running behind today because I'm feeling sloooooww...

First of all, katchababi - awesome news! I am very happy for you. And congrats on the baby boy! smile1.gif

We went away for the weekend racing at Batemans Bay, and it turned out to be a stressful weekend. We stayed in our caravan at a caravan park which was quite nice, but on Friday night I was carrying DD to the amenities block to go to the toilet and I fell over (off the edge of the annexe slab), twisting my ankle and landing with my tummy all squashed up on top of my leg and with DD still on my hip. I didn't do any major damage but I couldn't stop worrying that I had hurt the baby and by the time we got home last night I was beside myself with worry. I called my OB's office and they got me in for a check today, when I got there I had some spotting which freaked me out but THANK GOODNESS baby is OK, I saw him/her on the ultrasound with HB beating away - I nearly cried.

I'm exhausted from all the worrying now...

Hope you are all good.
natasha77
Hi Girls!

New EB is interesting, nice to have a change.

Another having her scan on the 27th!!! Gee very popular day biggrin.gif And we'll be 19 weeks too.

We're not finding out the sex... ph34r.gif so I thought I'd share my funny sex determining theory, passed on to me by a friend who's chinese doctor taught her. Brace yourselves!! roll2.gif

...okay its all about curly vs straight! Need I really say more? Let's just say its easier to tell if you don't get a brazillian wink.gif when I was pregnant with my son, nada - no change in the err curly... this time, things are straight!

So I am considering myself to be an official guineapig.... but thoughts from other girls who have a baby or more already? ... though I suppose this may not be something you ever checked or remember LOL

katchababi - WHOO HOO! huge congrats on your great test result and congrats on a baby boy. a brother, how nice biggrin.gif I think it'd be great to have another boy so Henry can play trucks and kick balls with a brother.

Sorry no more personals... haha maybe my curly v straight will be considered personal enough for tonight!?

katchababi
Hi Ladies, Just thanking everyone for their congratulations and well wishes. We are very happy and can't wait to meet our new son. We have already named him and have got Thomas practicing how to say it (very cute). We had already picked both a boys and a girls name about a week before the amnio as we wanted a name incase something happened. If he was a girl he would have been 'Zoe Louise', however since he is not he will be called 'Joshua William'. So from now on I will refer to him as this in posts.
We saw my GP today and got to here Joshie's heartbeat, nice and strong 156BPM. The test hasn't seemed to have bothered him at all. Which is such a relief. Also my blood pressure has gone down so obviously only rose due to stress, so no meds which is fantastic. On the down side DS has been sick on and off for the past month and a half so DR has prescribed 2 weeks off day care. Which is fine as I want him to get better, I just don't think my boss will be too impressed, but hey family comes first.

As for gender prediction tests and charts, every single one said we were going to have a girl. So lets just say I don't hold much faith in these, but each to their own.

Natasha - didn't really pay much attention to the neither region through my last pregnancy and as for this one I'm lucky if I can see past my gigantic belly to get a good look. tongue.gif

Mama - Glad to here your fall hasn't caused any major demage to you or either of your little ones. It must of given you a fair fright though. Look after yourself and take it easy.

Liana - Sorry to here you are still suffering from the dredded MS. Hopefully it passes by when you said. Are you taking anything for it?

sj - Hope you don't get your DS's bug sounds just awful, poor little fellow. Sounds like you got some good bargains maternity wear wise. I am just after the perfect pair of maternity jeans, but considering that I'm in larger sizes it is proving to be a tad difficult.

Coopersmummy - Hope that the gender prediction chart works for you, it sounds like you would really like a little girl. We would have liked one too, infact when the genetic councillor told us we were having a boy I actually said, "really". It must have seemed really selfish considering we had just been told our baby was healthy, but it was more shock as I said the prediction charts had all said girl and the pregnancy was so different to my first I just assumed it would be pink. We are very happy though and totally over the shock. Maybe next time we will have a little girl and her big brothers will be able to look out for her. blush.gif

Catnik - We did a similar thing when DS was born. We had a wrap that we used with Thomas for a day then I sent it home with DH who gave it to the dog. It obviously got totally destroyed but the dog got a good does of the new baby's smell and we have never had a problem with the pair of them, bar a few barks when we initially brought Thomas home from the hospital.

I have just responded to the posts I could see on the screen. So if I missed you sorry. But hello anyway and I'm sure I will catch up later.
Katrina
katiebelle
Just a quick one..

Coopersmummy - Your chart tells me DD should have been a boy and predicts a girl for this one, Keylimepie's chart tells me that DD is correct being a girl and that this one will be a boy.

Mama - WOW what a scare, so glad you got to see your OB and the heartbeat, what a huge relief

Just saw your post Katchababi - Gorgeous name for your little boy, Joshua and Thomas go so nice together

Welcome Frankie

That's about all I can do tonight, be back tomorrow after playgroup
coopersmummy06
I didnt think it could be that accurate but thought it might be a bit of fun to see whether or not it's right. So far it gets a BIG FAT FAIL!

katiebelle - I think the chart keylimepie found is more accurate. Thats the one I was trying to find but I couldn't find it anywhere.

katchababi - Joshua William is a gorgeous name! You must be so excited to put a name to your little bundle of joy. I would really like a girl just so I can have one of each but when it comes down to it as long as we have a healthy baby there isn't anything more I can ask for. I told the ladies at daycare if they say im having another boy I will cry. They all thought I was kidding, I said no give it about 10 minutes and I'll get over it but I would really like a girl. Then i watched a video on youtube, search for charlie bit my finger, it's so cute and i just thought oh Cooper would have an absolute ball having a little brother. So after the last few days and my ph34r.gif of youtube while at work I have decided... I DONT CARE! Healthy baby is fine by me. I would love a girl but I think Cooper would adore a little brother so yeah.

natasha77 - I didnt really take much notice with Cooper and I don't really have much there so it's a little bit difficult!

..::mama::.. - Sorry to hear about your fall but I'm glad everything is ok. Must have given you quite a scare.

Liana - Oh no, that evil MS! I still have a little bit in the morning but I find if I eat straight away it doesn't really have as much effect.

As for me not much else really. My tummy popped overnight but due to fat in the way you cant see it unless i'm lying down. But i can feel this nice little firm pot belly beneath all the fat and some definate rolling around going on in there. He/she seems to be quite content after i've eaten, a trait straight from Mummy.

I've lost 6kgs! I'm not sure if its something I should be worried about or not. I know your not supposed to lose too much weight even if you are overweight but how much weight is ok to lose?

Not much else I can add really. Still adjusting to the new EB. I do like it but i was used to the old one so i'm still getting lost.

Look after yourselves

Chloe
katchababi
coopersmummy - I saw that video with the 2 brothers, very cute. We too would have liked one of each, but as you said as long as they are healthy it really doesn't matter. However I think if I don't have a little girl next time my mum is going to kill me. roll2.gif She really just wants to go out and by all that cute little girl stuff. I must admit I don't blame her there always seems to be much more variety for baby girls then boys. Oh well at least we have saved her some money. laugh.gif
With reguards to weight loss I too am a larger lady and with DS I ended up putting on 20kg but only 8kg in the first 30wks then the rest in the last 10wks. I did how ever take most of it off bar 2kg in the first 2 weeks after he was born.A lot of it was fluid as a swelled up like the blueberry girl in Charlie and the chocolate factory, plus DS was a healthy 4065grms. However this pregnancy I have lost about 6 Kilos too. Mainly due to MS early in the pregnancy and since then I have gone off some of the less healthy food I use to eat. My Dr is not concerned at all he is actually quite impressed and as yet it hasn't harmed Joshua's growth. He thinks that I will eventually put on weight in the 2nd half of the pregnancy but if its slow and not too much he thinks I won't find this pregnancy as uncomfortable as with DS. Hope this puts you at ease. I think as long as your not starving yourself and your getting all the essential nutrients baby needs it should be fine.

Just wondering has anyone got or know of anyone who has the Steelcraft Strider DLX. We are looking at getting this and the car capsule attachement as it looks as if it would be quite handy. I can't remember who was the pram expert but maybe you have some info. Plus I love the colours. We will also be getting the ergo carrier as I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Well have to go have to take DS for a nasal aspiration. I hate taking him for these, as he hates them. But we are trying to pin point what infection he has so we are better equiped to get him all better. poor guy has been sick for sooo long. I really hate winter.

Catch up later, Katrina.

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a great EB free weekend.

Can't believe we are all having our ultrasounds in a couple of weeks, I will find out on Friday when mine is since I have my doctor/midwife appt.

Amysha - Yes I want to go the Target toy sales, the main thing a want is on pre-order ( a rip-stick for my 10 yar old) but there is lots of baby things I am interested in and other things for my children. I have seen to bassinet in Target and it is absolutely adorable, I would love to get one but my mum has one at her place that I have borrowed and will be borrowing for this baby.

Katchababi and Coppermummy - I am also a larger girl but unfortunately I have already put on 3 kgs this pregnancy since the best way of getting rid of MS is to eat, but hopefully I am still going to the gym 3-4 times a week I won't put on toom uch weight the rest of the pregnancy.

Muma - what a scar you must of had this weekend, glad that baby is ok.

Hello to everyone else I better go since its my DD's birthday tomorrow and have to start organising a afternnon tea for her friends tomorrow.

Mandy

morning girls! waves.gif

well, both those gender charts said girl for me! but I think I'm having a boy, will find out in a couple of weeks hey!

Natasha not sure about your method but things are straightish....although it's been interfered with via laser hair removal so not sure if that makes any difference! laughing2.gif

coopersmummy I think if you're eating healthily and enough food then the weight loss isn't an issue.

katchababi I hheart.gif your little boy's name! must feel fantastic to be able to name him and get to know him.

mama you poor thing with the fall! I would've been crapping my dacks too, but bubs is pretty well padded in there, so glad everything is aok.

liana sorry to hear you've still got m/s, hopefully not too much longer and it'll go away. will be great to start the nesting!! I've been putting off the major stuff, but I met a girl on the weekend who gave birth at 30 weeks, which really made me think, it's not THAT unsual to go early, 30 weeks is actually not that far away! so we need to get cracking on wardrobes and stuff.

*sj* good work on the maternity purchases, you'll still get good wear out of them, not sure where you are but in Adelaide it is FREEZING at the moment and I get the feeling we've still got at least a couple of months left of proper winter weather.

mandycandy have fun with your DD's birthday party! I can't wait to organise birthday parties for our kids and make novelty birthday cakes! my mum was brilliant at it, I think she had the Women's Weekly birthday cake book, she made me a cat, an echidna, dolly vardon, swimming pool etc etc, I loved them!

larms I found the pet thing on line: http://www.gooddogsa.com/goodowner/we-are-family/ There's a few useful tips in there, such as not paying as much attention to your pet in the time before the baby is born so they get used to it ohmy.gif . I know I'll have less time for my pup but the thought of that makes me feel a bit sad!

hheart.gif to everyone I've missed. Hope you're all travelling well.

AFM, we had our first class at the hospital last night - Early Pregnancy. Was good! A lot of the stuff they talked about I already knew (thanks to EB!) but a physio came and spoke for about an hour about good posture and how to lift and carry and sleep etc to look after your back and pelvis, was really really good. I'd been a bit worried about how sore my back was so early but sounds like it is common. Yesterday I received my Bellybean pillow which is just awesome! I love it, it's shaped like a dumbell and you sleep on the middle flat bit, one side supports your back and the other side supports your belly, last night I slept the best I have in ages! tthumbs.gif

On the weight gain/loss issue...

I read somewhere the other day that loosing up to 5kg in the early stages of pregnancy is considered ok but beyond this you should really be speaking to your Dr or OB. If you are loosing the weight, not vomiting and still eating a decent quantity and aray of foods then you may need to make some adjustments to your diet as baby will take anything extra it needs from you in the first instance - so it grows well but you loose the weight if that makes sense? You need to make sure you still have sufficient stores in your system to provide for YOUR OWN needs on top of bubs.

I also read that women who are considered underweight when they conceive and begin a pregnancy will tend to gain more weight (obviously as the pg progresses) but also after bub arives they may not loose it all as their body will balance itself out - loose what is excess and let you keep the little bit extra to bring you up to a more 'normal' weight range for your build. This is what happened with me and makes sense really.

The opposite is often the case for women who are larger when they begin a pregnancy - they can be slower to gain weight earlier on and overall gain less - returning to a more healthy weight range for build after the baby arrives...can't speak for larger women myself but maybe some of you would have an opinion....

Re the Strider pram - They seem very popular at the moment and do come in some nice shades. I have noticed though that by the time bubs is say 10 - 12mths old (depending on the height of bubs) that it looks like their feet start to hit on the front part of the seat frame. Looks like they are great for bubs while they are small - maybe not so much for older bubs/toddlers?? Don't know much else about them - don't have one but can tell you that Steelcraft/Britax are EXCELLENT to deal with if you ever need repairs/replacement parts or service! I own 3 Steelcraft prams/strollers/3 wheelers and can't fault them structurally or safety wise. Only downside would be the width across the back wheels - I wouldn't go anything wider than about 65 - 70cm at most (unless you aren't going to mind battling through supermarket checkouts and narrow isles in shops). original.gif

Hope you are all having a great day - back to work for me..
Petrichor
Hello ladies.

I got a different answer from each gender chart. rolleyes.gif

catnik - glad you found the class helpful last night. And hooray for a good night sleep.

mandycandy - hope the afternoon tea goes well and your DD enjoys her day.

sj - that's great that you got some maternity wear that you are happy with...and even better that it was all on sale. cool.gif

mama - so glad that everything is ok with you and your baby. Hopefully you don't have anymore bleeding either.

katchababy - hope you manage to get some answers about your DS's health. It would be great if he could get a few months without illness to build up his immune system again. Poor little fella.

katiebelle - hope you enjoyed playgroup.

Frankie - welcome to this buddy group and congrats on your pregnancy.

Sorry no more personals... haha maybe my curly v straight will be considered personal enough for tonight!?
roll2.gif I can't say I have taken any notice...maybe I should ask DH? biggrin.gif

Liana - hopefully your m/s does indeed leave you by 20 weeks.
Hooray for getting built-ins in your house. We have a problem with lack of storage too.
So sorry to read of your friend losing her baby. sad.gif

Coopersmummy06 - I agree with the others. As long as you are eating adequate quantities and that most of it is nutritional then the wieght loss should be fine.

Hello everyone else.

I just got a letter in the mail from the hospital to say they have accepted me into the Birth Centre! ddance.gif So glad for that. cool.gif

I had my booking in appointment yesterday (you would think they would have been able to check on my Birth Centre placement for me while I was there rolleyes.gif ) and they went ahead with booking all appointments assuming that I wouldn't get in so I will have to canx those. They had a bit of trouble finding the heartbeat (wouldn't help that I have an anterior placenta) but finally got it in the end. *wipes sweat off brow* Have no idea what the HR was and I didn't ask because I was just so relieved they got the HB in the end. They suspect that I may have a UTI but I don't have any symptons so I'll be waiting to hear back from their pathology lab later in the week about that.

I'm still REALLY tired. I eat pretty well and take pregnancy multivitamins and have never suffered from iron deficiency in the past so I'm assuming it is just the toll of pregnancy and two other kids at home fulltime. Really hoping my energy levels pick up soon.

Hope everyone is well.

Hello girls,

I've been out of action for a while... only just managed quick sneeks in without posting, so apologies for the lack of personals as it'll take me a while to catchup on everyone!

Hope most the MS has gone for all those with it..

AFM, well my belly starts out in the morning just looking tiny (but flabby), yet by the end of the day it's so swollen & firm I look 7mnths pregnant! Anyone else have this? Do you know why? is it water retention?

Also my boobs are still painful, itchy at the end of the day (just over it). I'm still alternating between fatigue & insomnia, but otherwise all good.

I caught up wtih a friend of mine who has a DS similar in age as mine recently. We used to joke that our 2nd would be around the same time.. well last time I caughtup she was about a month behind so I was so pleased for her as I know she's had a bit of a tough time + it took her a while. Well I just found out that she miscarried & I know she's utterly devastated, understandably. The thing is, I feel so guilty, i know there's no need to, but I do .. I understand that she needs her space to heal and grieve, but I just feel so helpless that I can't offer any help or relate to the experience, only imagine how awful it is (I think it's her 2nd loss). Anyhow, also nervously waiting for our morphology scan & hoping we survive until then as I feel rather undeserving at the moment given her ordeal... silly i know.

Otherwise, DS is absolutely charming about me being pregnant, talks to my belly every night with news of the day & says 'go to sleep now baby' ... all very cute.

well have a great night/next few days & hopefully I'll be a little more regular now..

Oh, my morph scan is on teh 5th Aug.

take care all,
T
natasha77
unsure.gif I know I should be past feeling unsure and I was! But for some reason this no man's land before my 19 week scan is making me so paranoid. No definite kicks yet.... i've had a few feelings which make me wonder.... plus my placenta is anterior... but even knowing all that - plus already having had a baby!!! I am full of doubt that s/he is still okay in there. My bump is even a bit smaller mellow.gif

Hoping someone can talk some sense into me? My husband tried, but readily acknowledges that he just can't ever really understand... and its true.

I don't know why I am feeling like this - I know its silly!! (Well, I hope it is)

Sorry for the me post - needed to share!!
coopersmummy06
Hi Natasha! I know exactly how you feel. I'm a wk behind you. I'm certain I can feel bubs bbabyflip.gif moving around in there and yesterday my tummy was going mad, but as you said with no definite kicks and then today its all quiet again and now i start thinking what if i wasn't really feeling anything yesterday. What if its all in my head.

I'm sorry this probably isn't helping you much but I know it makes me feel better to know i'm not the only one that doesn't feel pregnant right now! Another 2 weeks until I can hear bubs heart beat and another 3 wks until our scan! It just feels like its so far away, i guess because we are all excited. Well hopefully work can keep me busy and the time will fly.

I hope you start feeling something a little more definite soon that helps to ease your mind.
catnik
Natasha I know exactly how you feel!!! you're not going crazy. I'm anterior as well. I lie in bed at night just willing myself to feel something! every now and then I think, could that be it? but there is nothing definite at all, it could be all in my head. But then I tell myself, it's okay, obs said probably won't feel it til 20+ weeks, am only 17, plenty of time. I just wish I had that reassurance though.

And this morning I thought, my bump is smaller! But the girls at work assured me it definitely wasn't. But it does go up and down I think depending on how much I've eaten, fluid, etc etc.

Nope, you're definitely not being silly, and if you are, we ALL are! laughing2.gif

I wonder if this feeling will go away after our morphology scans? Hope so! And hopefully then we'll be feeling some proper kicks. I can't wait!

coopersmummy, I agree, these few weeks leading up to our scans seem to be draggginnngg, still 2 weeks and 1 day for me.

treeee I've got the boob itch as well. More specifically, the nipple itch! noice. I am SO sorry to hear about your poor friend. It IS really hard isn't it. I think my friends went through that with me, my two BF's were pg when I miscarried both times, and it was hard, but they kept talking to me about their pregnancies and also about my miscarriage and ttc efforts and that was the best thing, I think if you stop talking to each other because it's slightly awkward then it just gets worse and worse. The only thing I did hate was hearing them complain about being pregnant, when all I wanted was to be pregnant. Anyway, she will be okay and I am sure is so so happy for you and just terribly sad for herself. Hey that is SO cute about your DS talking to your bump!

happyface great news getting into the birth centre!!! you must be wrapt. And finding the heartbeat. Actually I get more nervous when obs gets the doppler out than the scanner, I am terrified he won't find the hb but it is still unknown, at least with the scanner, it's right there before your eyes!

Bubsies, I always have a chuckle at your prams!

Hi Everyone,

Am at work and I am just not in the mood to do anything except write to you guys. I'm currently trying to kid myself that cleaning out my inbox whilst flicking back to the forum is really work. I have a pile of filing sitting next to me that I'm conveniently ignoring. This pregnancy is just consuming me, I can't help it. Is it a first baby thing or perhaps I'm going a little c-razy?!

sj - great news about the maternity clothes. I have tried to buy layers to wear in winter that somehow I can peel off as it gets warmer. Good in theory except this morning when it was 8 degrees there just weren't enough layers.

liana - I'm so hands.gif your m/s disappears before 20wks, its the last thing you need I'm sure.

mama - glad to hear everything was okay after your fall. That is my worst nightmare, I'm such a clutz. Even DH is surprised that I've managed to stay upright so far in the pregnancy.

natasha77 - your theory made me roll2.gif so much! I can't even confirm what's going on down there, I can't see past the belly, believe me I tried last night in the shower my DH came in and asked what on earth I was doing as I was trying to look around my belly. I didn't bother trying to explain he would have thought I was completely mad.

catnik - Thank you so much for the website about your pets, I've printed it off and will be reading it tonight. My poor pooch is not going to know what's hit it, there will be no more snoozes at the end of the bed in the mornings when DH gets up to go to work.

katchababi - Joshua Thomas is great name, the two go really well together.

coopersmummy06 - don't worry about the weightloss, I'm average weight and I put on 4kgs in the 1st 12wks and now I've lost 2kgs of those so I'm almost back to square 1 and the Ob hasn't seemed worried. And my theory is, if they're not worried I'm not going to be worried. Don't stress, it'll probably make you lose more!

Guys you're definitely not going mad, I was in the same boat!! Luckily I had an Ob appt last night & the first thing I said was I was so anxious for the all the reasons you guys have said, so he did an ultrasound straight away. I can't feel diddlysquat either but there it was on the screen rolling around like an acrobat. So don't worry the bub is still there hanging out doing it's thing. I must say though if anything it may me even more impatient for the morphology scan.

treeee - how adorable is your DS, that is just so cute. You should video it.

I'd better get back to work, or better still I might go to lunch, do a bit of window shopping at DJs. Oh yeah and we picked up the eBay pram last night and it's fantastic, the hood is a little faded but the bassinet is pristine, which is mostly what we want it for. I'm thinking I might be able to get a new hood and then when bub is a bit older, thanks to Bubsies great market research, invest in a Baby Jogger City Mini.

Have a great rest of the day.

Super quick coz i'm at work

- totally relate on the not sure if i'm pregnant thing - I keep reminding myself I saw the kid at the 12 week scan - it has to be there still - I dont' remember it coming out!

- what's with the nipple itch thing - its driving me CRAZY

- am feeling some things but not sure if its movement or not

- feeling better on the tired frion tbut still puking.

Gotta run.

Cath
Amysha
Natasha I have been feeling a bit unsure this week. I cant feel any movements but didn't with #1 until 21wks so I haven't been expecting to feel anything at this point, plus I'm also anterior. I'm getting bigger so something must be going on in there. Few more weeks and I'm sure our scans will be reassuring to us all.

Does anyone know best place you get the hire capsule seats from and how much they are? Do hospitals hire them? We have a birth - 18kg seat which we used last time but it's not a capsule and I was thinking to make life easier to hire a capsule. I thought you hired from the council but ours has no mention of them online. I found one or two private baby hire companies and when I went to their web site no prices. I was hoping and assuming councils or hospitals would be more a low cost/non-profit exercise and assume renting through a business might be exxy?!? What about Vic Roads or RACV, do they hire them?
katchababi
Amysha - Not really sure but I think you hire them from the Ambulance.
catnik
Amysha in Adelaide we can hire them from the Red Cross, they install as well, not sure how much it is exaclty but pretty cheap I understand.

Girls, it is so comforting to know that so many of us are feeling similar, and not all feeling movement yet. bbaby.gif

In New South Wales we can hire them from the hospitals as far as I know. maybe trying calling the hospital and see what they know. Another EBer might know too so possibly post something to ask.

Hi Ladies biggrin.gif and babykins
been a few weeks since i last updated and hope that you are all going strong and healthy.
I had my first antenatal clinic at RDH on 27/7/09 and to be honest it was a bit disturbing.
The Midwife i saw was good, and helpfull but the O&G registrar was a total b**ch.
Implying that i was a bit old to have a baby ( i'm 41 in Aug) and that my 1:30 risk of DS was an issue and i should have an amnio..
I made the descision not to have one before i went there and still stand by it.
she also requested a GTT and protien test even though i had normal levels and said my BP was high when it was also very good(130/74)..i left there very upset and confused.
I saw my GP the next week and he was peed off that she had been this way to me and requested all of the tests be done via the private hospital and reassured me that all was ok.
The b**chy registrar also screwed up on the GTT and requested 100G of glucose for the tolerance test instead of the 75g which is reccommended. The pathologist refused to give me 100g and god bless her called the pathology doctor to recheck and was told that 100g could hurt me or the baby... so i'm not at all impressed with that registrar and will request that i don't see her again, My GP is also to make a formal complaint.
so fun and games hey!!
not sure if i like the new look to the forum but i'll get my pregnancy brain around it i guess.
Hope everyones MS has gone , i still have the occasional morning chuck but after that i'm fine and into the weetbix cool.gif
My belly is also smaller in the morning and by dinnertime feels like i'm about to pop. huh.gif Doc said that was normal...so glad i have a good GP..He's been a real comfort to me during this time...his wife had the same risk factor for DS as me and she had a perfectly normal Bub...so i guess he understands what it's like.
Hey Kandall are you still comming up to the top end??? PM Me if you want to catch up and escape the family for a while..
Haqve a great day you guys!!!
Cheers A wink.gif

Pregnancy airhead brain again...i went to the antenatal clinic on 27/6/09..DUH
I also have my Morph U/S tomorrow 17/7/09 a bit early at 17 weeks and 5 days, should i be able to see the Sex of it then???
and sorry Kendall i mistyped your name.. ohmy.gif
Cheers A
coopersmummy06
Oh Adrienne, how exciting, i'm sure you'll be able to see the sex. I asked the ultrasound people when i was there for my 13 wk scan and they said you can tell from then what the sex is but they don't look because its too small. With DS they saw at 18 wks. So i'm sure you'll be able to tell. How exciting we will have 3 confirmed sex's!

Hi Amysha,

Our council [Canterbury, Sydney] hires them at 6 months for $60, so i don't think anyone who hires them is going to be super expensive. Give your council a call and see what they say, if they don't hire they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Sorry to hear your not feeling well Coopersmummy06.

That filing is still there better get back to work.
Amysha
Thanks for the info regarding the carseats, sounds like I need to do a bit of phoning around to suss it all out. I guess one thing that concerns me though is you aren't meant to use them if they have been in an accident. The hire service relies on previous renters to declare this. mellow.gif

Ladies I tried on the Bonds Singlet today you all recommended and wow it actually holds my boobs up. Remember I was saying how much trouble I was having with bras in general, I tried this on and the support was great. The cup size was generous, I fitted into a D instead of a DD. I think the cross over at the back really helped with support and it was just a great fit. No saggy boobs. Amazing.! I didn't buy one, will wait a few months in case sizes change but I can see myself just using this as a day & night solution. Only thing I'm wondering is being middle of summer having an extra layer might be too hot. I also tried on the Bonds Maternity Bra which was also a cross over but not nearly as much support and the same old saggy boobs.

I felt my first movement last night and was lying on my left side as I was drifting off to sleep and I felt the little bubbles twice. I do recall reading last time I was pregnant this is the best position to try to feel movements so maybe worth a shot for those of you hanging out for that reassurance.

Adrienne, good luck with your scan tomorrow. I was told the sex at my 12wk scan so I think they should be able to tell by 17wks. Sorry to hear you had such a hard time at the clinic.

Kendall, Target catalogue is on their web site www.target.com.au you can view it page by page. It's still not in store or mailboxes though. I checked out the bassinet today and I dont know anymore, I didn't really like it, it was more a yellow than a cream on the sample in the store. I saw a nicer one in Baby Bunting for $169 which came with a doona and pillow but I guess would you really use the extras? Pillows I didn't think you were meant to. I have never seen sheets or bedding in bassinet size, I assume you can buy it? For those of you who have used bassinets before what sort of manchester did you use?

katiebelle
Hi Ladies waves.gif

Coopermummy - hope you feel better soon

Amysha - I bought fitted bassinet sheets as I used a bassinet and I am sure I just got them from Target or a baby shop, mine are just plain white. My bassinet also came with a quilt and pillow which are just for decoration, you can't use them for the baby. As for the car capsule, I too would be worried about them being in an accident. Maybe ask in your State Forum for info on where to hire from rather than tons of phone calls, I bet someone else on EB in your area has hired before and can save you all the trouble

Adrienne - Enjoy your scan tomorrow, sorry that you had such a horrible registrar but YAY for your GP making a complaint and for being such a big help

Catnik - my DD has a comforter which we call Snuggle Bear, it is a square of fabric with a silky backing and it has a bears head on it, here is a link. She takes it to bed all the time and then when she gets up she puts him "away" he sits in a little spot in the kitchen bench. I didn't want anything that made noise probably mainly for me as I am a light sleeper so if bubs accidently knocked it and it made noise I wouldn't want it to wake DD or myself, I also bought 2 of them. I have one in our bag for when we go out and one stays home, also works well for when they are sick you can be washing one while they still have one.

Natasha - sorry that you are feeling so unsure about yourself at the moment, can you duck into your OB for a quick doppler check to ease your mind. I hope you start to get movements soon

Big hello to everyone, hope you are enjoying your Thursday

AFM, I am feeling lost like most of you too, as this is my 2nd bub I don't seem to have the same obsession I did with DD, with her PG I was reading baby websites daily, my books, always shopping for different things, nappies, clothes, linen etc had the job of getting the nursery set up, this time probably because I am in that limbo area with not a lot of movement etc and no real jobs to do, I have tons of gender neutral clothes, I have 2 boxes of huggies NB nappies leftover, we have already bought the capsule and the nursery is staying exactly as it is, just need to move DD out. At least I know I am bonding with baby though, I talk to my belly every day, mainly before I go to sleep.

Hi Girls,

What a great group we have in here, we're lucky. Thank you for all the reassurances and 'me too!' comments. It's silly, but it helps to know I am not the only neurotic Mumma in here wink.gif

katiebelle - funny you should suggest a doppler check! I had Henry and myself in at our GP this morning as he had a bad temp for 3 nights (we had it checked after the first night too) and now its turned into a cough/nose thing, my poor boy. Though thankfully he slept last night. Gosh, I know he needed it and so did his Daddy and I!!

I have been feeling off just from last night, like I was coming down with something, so she was great and checked us both for all Influenza + Swine Flu + Strep Throat - and we both got the all clear.

I've heard through Mum and through the news that its getting silly in Oz and they won't run tests!!!? I don't usually feel lucky living in Tokyo, their medical system is often frighteningly antiquated and obsolete (yes really!! Not the technology you would expect!!!) but she swabbed our noses and they have an in-house lab, so 10 mins later, we had the all clear.

She also asked after my pregnancy (I see an OB here) and I laughed and said all good, but just wishing to feel a good strong kick for reassurance, so she grabbed the doppler and we immediately heard our little Bug's heart thumping away at 163. PHEW. I feel like a weight has been lifted.

She also said to pop in, no apt needed anytime in the future if I start to worry. I love that!

She also reiterated to me that Tamiflu needs to be given within the first 48 hours of having Flu - so girls, if you're in doubt, push hard for a test and get checked. Such scary reports in the news about those poor women in NSW.

Katiebelle- I absolutely know how you feel. I too was so busy reading and planning and shopping for Henry... that this time its just weird!! I haven't bought anything for this baby yet sad.gif I think though that, as we really don't need much (just girly clothes if 'it' is a she biggrin.gif ) i'm just going to buy a few special items so that this baby doesn't suffer too badly from second child syndrome!! Haha I am a middle child and I turned out okay LOL Maybe a really beautiful wooden and fabric rattle a girlfriend here saw that would really be something to last....

We're also keeping our nursery as is, I adore it. I bought some wall prints from Mumas and Papas in the UK and its very neutral and peaceful.

I cannot wait to do Henry's 'boy' room!! But we're waiting to see if we're moving back to Oz (please God let that happen in October!!!! It'd be life changing and so amazing to have fresh air, parks, ease of travel, supermarkets and ready emergency health care etc etc I could write a long list!).

Amysha - GRAT news on the Bonds Singlets!! They're fab aren't they?? If I were you i'd watch for sales and pick some up in the size you are now (depending on how long you BF, your boobs are unlikely to stay huge for the 6-12 months) and a few 1 and 2 sizes up.

I'm a small C and I wore their D comfortably even at my biggest when my milk came in and the early weeks. I found them quite forgiving and stretchy and sometimes I just had a much fuller look. I'll be buying a fresh lot for this time too.

I agree that the extra layer in Summer isn't ideal.... but I'll wear it as is around the house and if going to the shops in air-con etc.

Adrienne13 - so sorry that seeing your doctor was so unpleasant!! Gee she sounds terrible. Thank goodness your GP is so great. Good on them and you for making a complaint. Oooh you poor thing still throwing up some mornings, gosh I know I am so lucky having never thrown up in 2 pregnancies.

Kendall - ooh were there gorgeous things in the box!? How are you going in NOT setting things aside LOL I would struggle!

Coopersmummy - poor you feeling blah today. Its hard not feeling good. Hope you feel better this afternoon and tomorrow.

Hi to everyone else, sorry for not catching everyone! Have to go and cook something for my little sicko's dinner.
