Please let me know if you need anything adjusted or would like to be added

I had my first very noticeable braxton hicks yesterday morning. I got them quite bad with DS and if this one was anything to go by, they'll be bad again. Very, very tight belly for about 40 seconds. Had me holding my breath.
Rosalita
MOH - I too am another who gets very definite BH & they have kicked in with a vengeance now, yesterday I also had my 'strongest one for this pregnancy. I just convince myself that it is helping to get things sorted for The Big Day bbaby.gif LOL!
OH & congrats on your babygirl.gif wub.gif
mummy2Ali*Lachie
me too I had bad ones on and off yesterday and even considered timing them....I never had them with DD so it's kinda got me freaked!!! Yay almost 21 weeks boy how time is flying by now!! Has anyone heard from 1CD??? haven't seen him on here for ages. Well 1CD if you're reading this we hope all is well with DW and the twinnies!!!
Frau Farbissina
Hi all,

Well we had the ultrasound today, and it came back with all good news. Bubs revealed all several time as the sonographer was trying to get the right angle at times and so, it appears that we will be having another beautiful bouncing baby boy biggrin.gif

The CD of the scan will get delivered to my doctor with the results, so I have no pics yet.

mumofhayden/MummyPig/hoping4bubsin09 - I haven't noticed any braxton hicks myself yet. I hope they don't bother you guys too much over the next few months!

mumofhayden - congrats on your girl result!! That's very exciting. I'll have to live vicariously through my nieces to get all my girly girl desires out!!

Fifi - funny dream - what's the result? Last night I was dreaming of eating soft cheeses lol. I was spreading camembert thickly onto a slice of french bread. Dream on Astrid!

Kate38 - I can share you relief at the good ultrasound news. It certainly helps lower the anxiety about everything being OK.

take care everyone!
ausktl
Sorry for not posting earlier - i have been ph34r.gif the last couple of days and love reading everyone's news, about their day to day lives and wierd dreams!
Sorry - going to be really selfish - no time for personals but i have a question for all you knowledgeable ones. Every night i wake up between 1230 and 1.30 and need to pee but also have quite bad tummy pains that kind of comes in waves. Can anyone offer advice on what this is. I eventually go back to sleep and in the morning it is gone, but just wondering if this is something i should be calling my obst about?
Thanks for your help ladies and keep the news coming! tongue.gif
PS - can't believe my little doggy tracker is almost half way (tommorrow is the big 20!)
Mercurial
ausktl - no good about the pains - could they be braxton hicks? For me it feels like my whole stomach suddenly cramps (almost as if you've got the runs type cramps). Alternatively it could be wind! Definitely mention it to your OB next visit if it's worrying you.

When I get a braxton hicks I can definitely feel the whole outline of my uterus and it feels tight. Stands out heaps more than normal if that makes sense.
suziej
No idea, Ausktl... mention it, but try not to concern yourself too much.

Saw the hospital ob today - all normal, normal, normal - and a lot of very pregnant people!!

My current problem is I finally bought some maternity pants - now, I normally buy a 16 because designers don't believe in thighs and I don't believe in flaunting my generous pair too well, so I just grabbed a 16 which made me look like I was 20 months but then what doesn't...

Anyhoo - wore them today and had to keep hitching, because while allowing the generosity in the thigh it was also allowing for a waist of a well proportions full term woman, methinks.

Teach me to just buy because I am sick of shopping and want to get home.

My mum suggested braces, but I got all giggly at the thought of topping it with a red shirt, polka dot yellow bow tie and trying to get in and out of a telephone booth with many others!

Sorry, no personals, just a little observation on life.

Congrats to all who have had scans and got their boys/girls/surpises.

Half way - although I did tell V today it isn't REALLY half way, as the first 2 weeks are behind the start line and you have to count to 41.
mich*mum2three*
Hey Everyone

I am sorry no personals today I want to have a whinge.....

I am really sick of people asking me if I am disappointed I am having another boy! Today I probably offended one of the mums at school when she asked me and I just looked at her blankly and said no, why would I be?? I do understand why people ask that question but I think it is rude. I remember when I was preg with dd and we told no one we were having a girl and so many people would say to us 'I bet you are hoping for a girl' and I would say that I honestly don't care, our DS1 is such a beautiful little boy why wouldn't I want another one!!!!

Even as I write this I KNOW when they ask, it is innocent and they aren't meaning it as a swipe at boys but it just annoys me, and no matter how hard I try not to let it bother me it does! Why can't people just celebrate the fact that you are having another beautiful baby and not zero in on what sex it is or isn't. We feel so lucky that we are able to have the big, healthy family we have always wanted without any dramas falling preg. This is the reaction we get and we already have a dd!!!

Phewwww glad that is off my chest!

Thanks girls...

Mich.x
mummy2Ali*Lachie
mich my GF had the same thing with bubs no.3 she said people have been really rude particularly family. Her DH's mum said oh well I was going to buy her lots of things now I guess I can save the money???? Oh My Gosh!!! Oh well I guess you just have to take it with a pinch of salt or make a joke of it and say well we were really hoping this one was a hermaphrodite or something like a puppy heheheh!!

alibaba~81
Sorry, just a quick brag post biggrin.gif

I just made up a fresh batch of home made sushi (tinned tuna and vegies) and it was AWESOME!!!! I ate so much and now I feel so full but so GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!! biggrin.gif

Ok, sorry, end of brag...
Fifi
original.gif Hello all

alibaba - YUM!!!!! I have been thinking about sushi all week but have been too busy to make it! Cornelius huh? tongue.gif

hopingforbubs - how rude!!

michmum2three - that happened to me so many times when I was pregnant with DS2. I didn't really get it as we had been through fertility issues over 6 years to get our boys so they meant everything to us. It gets you mad doesn't it??

suziej - roll2.gif Laughed so hard at the image of you in a phone booth in those gorgeous braces!!!

ausktl - If they are painless they would probably be Braxton Hicks but if they are sore I would be speaking to your ob.

45tr1d - Congratulations on the baby babyboy.gif !!! So glad to hear everything went well. Had to laugh at the cream cheese. I've been craving everything that I am not allowed to have!

mumofhayden - There are so many more accessories for girls though!! I think it would all even out in the end! wink.gif

mrsjt - Twins!! No definitely just one (see below for results!!) wink.gif Glad he's moving again for you!

Okay and now for what you have all been waiting for......drumroll please.......

It's a..............

babygirl.gif babygirl.gif babygirl.gif

So excited!!! Scan was all clear. She was a bit naughty and we had to go for a walk twice to get the right measurements of her heart but then decided to behave and let us finish. I will have to upload photos tomorrow as I need to download them from my camera. And then of course.....we went shopping!!!! Didn't buy very much but had fun looking around grin.gif

So my dream has been answered and I now know which balloon I needed to have! laughing2.gif

Off to bed as shopping has worn me out grin.gif

waves.gif
mummy2Ali*Lachie
oh wow Fifi congrats on your little girl!! How exciting. We are all really moving along now as I said to DD only 19 weeks to go give or take and she was amazed!!! How quick that will go by now!!! Hey has anyone taken the cenovis pregnancy vitamins. I am taking the IQ fish oil tabs and elevit. I went a bought some kelp powder (Iodine) and OMG my stomach turned just the smell of it!! I can't swallow tablets and wondered if someone had found a good liquid multi vitamin or if the cenovis ones are crushable???? Well I am off to baby bunting alone sadly but hey that way I can look at what I want and not be dragged around!!! Have a great day everyone!!

Tummy rubs to all!!
Mercurial
Fifi - congrats on your little girl. The girls are definitely outweighing the boys in this due in group.

alibaba - good on you for going to all the trouble of making sushi to feed the craving!

michmum2three - I know people aren't thinking when they say things like that but honestly it implies that you don't want the baby you're carrying because of the sex - how horrendous. I think your response was perfect. The person may be a little taken back at first but hopefully they'll never say such a silly thing again. I know we'll prob get lots of comments about clever having a pigeon pair - as if we had any say in it!

suziej - maternity pants suck. I had a pair with elastic all around the top and they were horrendous uncomfortable and I bought another pair last week. They are heaps more comfortable but I find I have to keep hitching them up which is always a good look. I'm pretty big already so could imagine for those carrying small it'd be very hard.

45TR1D - I can't seem to find you on the list - I looked a few times so it's either baby brain or you're not on there. If you're not on there can you shoot me through your details either via pm or on here and I'll add you to the list. Congrats on your little boy!

AFM - Feeling a bit blurk about everything today. I had a very uncomfortable night's sleep. I've been able to sleep in my normal position up til now but I think that's all about to change. Also my eczema is back with a vengeance and I can't use the cream again yet because my skin is too sensitive and still peeling from last time I used it. And on top of that I've got a sore throat and ear ache which for me means my reflux is playing up. I'm usually on medication pretty much permanently to keep it under control. I went to the chemist to see what I could take instead and he wouldn't offer any suggestions and said to talk to my dr. Thankfully I have an OB appt on Friday and can see what she says. And if that's not annoying me enough, SPD has been quite bad the last few days. Don't know if bubs has suddenly grown hence the reflux and SPD flare but I'm hobbling around . I've been sorting paperwork for tax this morning so that's probably contributing to my blurk mood - nobody can get excited about that (except maybe an accountant I suppose).

On a positive note getting loads of kicks which is just so lovely. I've also had no work on for 24 hours so I'm getting a chance to rest and relax a bit - DH and I even managed to find some time to talk last night - heaven forbid!
suziej
mumofhayden - ouch on the excema, reflux and SPD trifecta! I hope the OB can give you some relief on Friday. Thanks for doing the list - it looks great. We have found out the sex of ours, so you can add girl there - oh, and my real name is Sophie when I am not all paranoid and lurky!!

hoping4bubs - enjoy the shops!!

Fifi - yay on another girl!!

alibaba - mmmmm sushi. One of our favourite dinners - haven't had it in a while, actually. We always end up with trying to put too much "stuff" in it (doesn't help that V is a vegophile)

mich - one of the MANY reasons that, while we found out the sex (and you folk here are the ONLY ones who know the result) we aren't advising the world - not because we fear a reaction, but because other people have no doggarned right to bring their little judgement bubbles into our parade. Did you punch her?

45TR1D - yay on the boy!!

mummypig - ~~wave~~

mrsjt - congrats on the seat offers - it appears to be a bone on contention on the boards that it doesn't happen, but good to see it does.

kate38 - congratulations on a modest and healthy child!

jill - sorry work isn't such a serene spot at the moment, but priorities are you and bub.

madreader - I hope you get better soon

checkingboxes - thanks for that. I am using fairly run of the mill stuff, no research whatsoever...

maren - poor dd - I do hope the meds help and she is feeling much better.

jax - how are you going on secret keeping?

goddessof67 - I am 40 (and there are many more in the Older Mums section on EB - enough to make 40 statistically "chickenlike") and apart from the initial stats (and the fear of having to chase a toddler) it should be fine. Good luck on the scan today.

kittyN - gorgeous portraits of your babies!

aimee - how are you travelling?

missM, firstontheway, kitangel, learner, mum2jc, busyboys - hi there!!!

beks2boys (aka bek), kel~eric, 1dani1, d-o-n-n-a - haven't seen you around since before the change, how is everything going? (Donna - I do hope ms has settled a bit for you).

There are 13 others on the list who haven't been around for a month or more - I hope all are okay.
*iwanttobakesomebuns*
I'm here original.gif And as of today feeling baby kicks biggrin.gif

45TR1D - congrats on a little boy original.gif

Fifi - Congrats on a Girl! cant wait to see your scan pics

mumofhayden - i had my spd flare up on the weekend and it was sooo uncomfortable sad.gif i feel your pain!

hoping4bubsin09- enjoy your baby shopping, sometimes it is nice to go alone without DH saying no, no, no laughing2.gif

alibaba~81 - mmmmm when can i come over for sushi laughing2.gif i'd love some tuna sushi right now, you are good making your own!

mich*mum2three* - i find a lot of people have mostly negative things to say all the time wether it be "oh you had better have a girl as there are already boys in the family" or "my friend had a terrible birth" and the list goes on..... all that matters is you are happy & having a healthy baby be it boy or girl original.gif hhugs.gif i'm sorry you get this from people.

suziej - i'm the same with the maternity pants & tops, i got a top and it's all baggy down the bottom as i've had to allow room for bigger boobies laughing2.gif

ausktl - waves.gif

AFM, my sleep is getting crap again and i'm waking up during the night again sad.gif so excited i felt my first kicks this morning when i sat down at my desk with my cuppa tea!!! they were soooo distinct i now know what they feel like original.gif
DH is due to go away for work which has kept on being put off continually and now looks like will go right up until the day he leaves for ireland sad.gif DH has agreed to go on a babymoon so we can relax together and have some quality time before the bambino arrives, so now the hunt is on for the best place to go, we were thinking melbourne but with the number of swine flu cases maybe not, bali was my choice and to stay in a private villa so i can suntan/laze in private wink.gif but dh is against that is worried about me eating & drinking over there......so my new thought was QLD or Broome!!! Any recommendations from anyone?
ausktl
Firstly thank to all for the advice on my tummy aches. I decided last night it was possibly integestion because it always was happening about 1-1.5 hours after i went to sleep. So last night i had a couple of mylanta before i went to sleep and whilst the pain was still there for the 12.30 pee it was not nearly as bad. So tonight i am going to try no mlant and se what helps. M back now that is another issue for another day. just taking things as easily as possible.

Congrats to all those with more health scans.

The main reason i jumped on now was to give advice on places to go to iwanttobakesomebuns - my recommendations - Port Douglas - we went couple of years ago and loved it. Also Thailand is great also but you may have same issues with food as Bali. I love playing travel agent so if you need any help planning let me know!

Ok going to fini my work ow so can get out of here and go home to my couch and hot water bottle for my back! Tounge1.gif
mummy2Ali*Lachie
Ooooo Port Douglas go there we went for our honeymoon to the brand new sea temple and OMG it was so great!! We had a swim out room and it was fantastic!!!
goddessof1967
mich*mum2three* - some people are real derrr brains. I don't think your reply to that woman about having another boy was at all rude. It's a baby fer chrissakes bbabyflip.gif .

Alibaba - yum to sushi! can you come here and make me some original.gif . I did have a piece the other day but it was with seaweed, no meat or fish.

*iwanttobakesomebuns* - you're choosing to be bombed over the flu? laugh.gif Broome before September is bewdiful, after that could be hot and uncomfy specially if you're feeling quite preggo by then. Port Douglas sounds lovely! Congrats on your baby kicks. I'm still patiently waiting but my placenta is anterior so it could be a bit longer yet.

mumofhayden - really look after yourself. Not an awful pregnancy but it sounds a little annoying nonetheless, so far.

Fifi - congrats on your girl!

45TR1D - congrats on a little boy original.gif

suzieJ - that's good to hear about you and the other older mums here. The trouble is I work in the baby industry and while I see stacks of good outcomes, I also see the yukky ones and of course being a pessimist, I worried about this one until today. Now I really can't wait to meet the bundle.

Well, we had the scan today and a huge sigh of relief and happiness tthumbs.gif . All is well and normal. I am so pleased and excited. AND we're having a boy!!!! babyboy.gif babyboy.gif

I thought I wanted a girl but as soon as I found out it was a boy, I fell in love immediately. I wanted DP to tell me the sex and not the doc, so he wrote it and put it in an envelope. I lasted about 2 secs after we walked out of the joint. I can't wait to meet my baby now! bbabyflip.gif

waves.gif and belly rubs to all.
learner
suziej - you really are good at personals. I concur with your sentiments so won't worry about repeating them all here (yup I'm lazy).

*iwanttobakesomebuns* - Spain is beautiful but I am guessing you are thinking closer to home. I haven't been to Bali but it is supposed to be beautiful and supporting their tourism industry is important. Sounds like you want somewhere nice and warm. We haven't explored too much around Australia but will probably do so in the coming years as a family (hopefully anyway). Darwin is beautiful before the build up starts in September. Sorry not really much help here.

As for us: We are staying in a nice caravan park on the South East coast of Spain. We are heading up to Barcelona tomorrow in the hope that we will be able to get our campervan sorted out. It is a bit of an old girl and something has gone wrong under the bonnet (we think it's the starter motor). So we have been a bit of a comedy act getting her going with a push start. Luckily we have had people near by to lend a hand so preggo and hubby can get on the road again.

Bubba has been active with summersaults and body rolls which has been reassuring. I've been headachy today but am trying to combat that with lots of water. As someone else mentioned earlier, fill her up then empty her out again. It never ends.

Enjoy your Thursday peoples. tongue.gif
biene_maja
Hi everyone ,

mich - I think you get comments either way. When we told the in laws DD 1 was going to be a girl they kept making comments that they were hoping for a boy. And now they can't get enough of DD and I don't think they mind at all that they're probably getting another girl grandchild.

AFM : DD is much better. She has slept through for 2 nights now so I'm feeling better too.
I'm pretty nervous about my u/s tomorrow. A friend just called me and said she had a dream last night that they changed the sex to a boy.
I spent yesterday on the hard floor painting DD's skirting boards and I think I've pinched a nerve or something. It kills when I walk.

Have a good day.
kitangel
Hey all!

Just popping on to say we had the scan yesterday and it's a BOY! Edward Russell, my little man ^_^ All's well and normal, he's beautiful and healthy. He wouldn't stop moving around!

Cheers,
Steph
Mercurial
Kitangel - congrats on a healthy scan and your baby boy. Such an exciting time the last week or so with everyone having their scans.

maren - I'm sure things will be fine for your ultrasound tomorrow. Hope your pinched nerve is feeling better. We're at a part in our pregnancy now where we still feel good enough to do everything but our bodies need a bit more care. Glad your DD is feeling better.

learner - spain sounds lovely. Glad that bubs is giving you plenty of reassurance with the acrobatic antics.

goddess- congrats on your little boy. I love my DS to bits and he's so wonderful - boys can be so special.

ausktl - glad you've found the cause for your stomach aches. Hopefully you'll get some better sleep now.

iwanttobakesomebuns - We had our honeymoon up in Port Douglas and Cairns. The pub at Port Douglas serves the best prawn curry I have ever tasted - absolutely beautiful. It's such a pretty part of the world. We're going to Hawaii for our babymoon holiday - only 15 days to go!!!!!

suziej - you're fantastic at personals - though there was no update about you! I've seen some of the MIAs posting in other parts of the boards so they obviously just can't keep up in here tongue.gif

AFM - slept a bit better last night. Have an OB appointment tomorrow so I'll be able to bring up my (many) complaints and see what she says. I'm taking DS in though I usually get him babysat - he's not very good yet at just waiting patiently. So could be a bit stressful. No doubt my BP reading will be higher than usual! Been perusing the Hawaii brochures and making notes of the tours/activities I want to do while we're there. Though top of the list is simply a day lying in/by the pool indulging in good food, sunshine, good conversation and oodles of relaxation. Then we can do the more active things!

Hope you are all keeping well. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow so will take a piccy. I don't think I've gotten much bigger though.

Hi Everyone.

ausktl - sorry to hear about your tummy aches. Is it possibly cystitis? I am one of those people prone to it, it is very uncomfortable in the belly area and down there and can get quite bad if it progresses. Get your OB or midwife to check your wee if it doesn't get any better. It doesn't always have the side effect of painful urination so sometimes people are unaware they have it.

Congratulations kitangel and goddess babyboy.gif

To everyone getting comments, try to ignore people, sometimes they are just trying to make small talk, I find it quite rude. My secret keeping is going well, to the point I have told everyone they couldn't see the sex of the baby. As I know it is a girl and that people will make rude comments I feel justified now keeping my mouth shut.

Feeling good atm, lots of energy so trying to get as many things done until I fall in a heap original.gif

Just a question for people working - when are you planning on stopping working, I'm looking at the middle of November so hopefully it will give me a couple of weeks at home although previous DD's have been born at about 38 and a half weeks, so even a few days will be good.

Oh, and Broome sounds lovely - I have stayed at Cable Beach Club a couple of times and absolutely love it.

Jax, I'll be working til 34 weeks which will be the end of October. 34 wks used to be the recommended time but that got lost over the years, due to people working for financial reasons I think. Not only does your body need that lull time, it's a time to really rest with your baby, it's a time of real growth for the baby and the more rest you have the better it grows and also your brain is wired to stop thinking so logically so working probably becomes a bit of a fog. I don't know how that will be with me personally but I have a feeling that I will be the same biggrin.gif . Also, after 34weeks is when complications arise, if they're going to so as stress free as possible is recommended. I know that people work up to all times but that's the reasons for 34wks and I'm planning for that. Actually, I think pregnant women shouldn't work at all but obviously that's not often practical for lots of people, including me!

(I know this stuff cause I'm a midwife but there is also lots of stuff I don't know which is why I come in here, I learn alot b/c as a midwife you don't often get to hear about the other bits and pieces women go through when they're preggas. And the midwife or your primary carer isn't necessarily the person you are going to discuss certain things with).

I also have a very physically and emotionally demanding job so I will look forward to giving my baby just me and not bits of me.
okcomputer
goddess - agree with your job being demanding so it's good you are going on leave earlier, my job is a cushy desk job and I also work for our family business so I can leave if i feel sick or come in later etc. I also have the luxury of being able to work from home if I need to.

With DD2 I kept working until my waters broke while sitting at my desk, BUT that was when I was younger and probably a bit fitter roll2.gif I have so much less energy now.

Now I know what you mean by being in the "baby industry". Will you be having your baby where you work?
*iwanttobakesomebuns*
Thanks for all the recomendations for a holiday destination wink.gif Yeap i do want to go somewhere nice & warm so i can even get a little bit of a tan wink.gif i think QLD is looking like a front runner!!
Spain is little to far for 1 week laughing2.gif but it was somewhere we did want to visit whilst on our honeymoon and we ran out of time!! sad.gif

I've booked my maternity leave for mid november but i can change it at any time with a weeks notice i've booked 6 months off but that can all so be changed too! I'm glad its flexible wink.gif

kitangel - congrats on a boy!! original.gif

mumofhayden - HAWAII how lucky are you!!! i'd love to go there, ever since i started to love elvis movies and all the ones that are made in Hawaii.

maren- i'm sure your u/s will go great!

goddessof1967 - yay for another little boy in the group..... is anyone keeping track of what everyones having?
Mercurial
I worked til 38+5 with DS. Desk job and was starting late and finishing early. I delivered at 39+1 so in hindsight prob should have finished up a week or two earlier! This time as a WAHM no doubt my typing (which is the work that I do) and looking after DS will continue until DH drives me to hospital!

I would have loved to have finished at 36 weeks but we those extra few weeks pay certainly helped in the long run.

iwanttobakesomebuns - I'm updating the list with what everyone is having. I'll repost it again in this thread in a day or two, just about everyone will have had their scans by then.
ausktl
Learner: so jealous of you being in Spain. Last year for our belated honeymoon we drive from Paris, south to Spain and then clockwise around the spainish and portuguese coast until we hit Lisbon. We loved the coast on Spain - in particular highly recommend Peniscola (pronounced Pensicola for all those with a dirty mind) if you have a chance to get there. Leaner would you aso believe (and this is not some creeper stalker thing) - you were in a my dream last nigt - wel at pregnant woman whose name i knew to be Learner was. It was a vey bizare dream!
Mumofhaydne - hawai - bet you are just counting the minutes!
Jax: i hope to work up to 2 weeks before, but the last 2 weeks will be handing over to my fill in so won't actually be doing much! I then hope to have min 6 months off (but pushing for 9-12 depending on finances and mortgage! Ah the reality of life).
Everyone else - grin.gif hope you are having a lovely day (my keyboard is acting up and giving me the sh*ts so going to cut this short.)

Have a great afternoon all. Tounge1.gif
*missm*
Hiya everyone,

I have been lurking but the last couple of days have not been able to sign in, gotta love technology.

We have a DD and the comments so far is "oh I bet your hoping for a boy to make it a pigeon pair", a lady said this to me so I turned around and said that I never knew pigeons were born in pairs, how interesting" lol, the look I got was priceless....another one of those times my DH cringes with my smart ass comebacks to people who ask silly questions.

I have had the most awful cough the last couple of weeks, sounds like a pack of dogs has moved in, I was told whooping cough was going around our area, I dont think it is that, but i cough so much each day and its so bad that I often dry reach at the end or nearly wet my pants, not a good look either way....

Its so exciting to see everyone along so far, how quickly has it gone, I cant believe we are 19 weeks tomorrow, nearly half way there.

Anyway thats enough for me, I love reading about everyone's going on, I am not always very good at submitting replies, but am always around reading.
ausktl
quick questions for those who have done this before - what are your thoughts on Boori 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 cots - are they worth the hype or are you just paying for a brand name? I have been looking at some second hand ones on ebay which seem like good deals
Kitty-N
Hey Mumofhayden, how do you get into a work at home job doing typing/word processing? Ive always considered that but never known how to get into it. Obviously word speed and accuracy etc would be really important.

Hi everyone else! Sorry for being sort of MIA, have had low blood pressure for the last few days so have been a bit under the weather. Not deathly sick or anything, just lots of rest. Feeling sort of ok now, but not feeling 100% iykwim...

Hope you are all going well and congrats to those that have had scans and seen thier lovely bubs going well. And congrats on those that have found out genders. Sorry I havent kept up with you all, but I am thinking of you!
Mercurial
Kitty - Bugger about the low pressure. I was offered redundancy from my exec assistant role when DS was about 3 months old. By chance I picked up the paper that weekend and there was an ad that simply said typists wanted and had a phone number. It looked a bit dodgy but I rang it anyway and I now sub-contract through to a transcript typing business. I honestly have to say for me it's been the best possible job as typing is such an easy job to do from home. I type at about 120wpm so obviously my speed enables me to get a lot of work done. On average I work about 20-30 hours per week. There is quite a few transcription companies out there, they hire infrequently though so it just pays to keep an eye on them. The lady I work for has four kids so she's very understanding of the hiccups that having a child can do to your work. I've done some massive hours for her at times (60 hour weeks) and she's repaid me by ensuring I get work first over some of her other typists when things are slow. Just this arvo I've received 28 hours worth of work so I'm set for the next week!
mummy2Ali*Lachie
ohh MOH that is something I'd be interested in too. I think I'd have to work on my typing speed though as I think I am only around 75 words per min. I am working right up till I drop pretty much as I only work two days a week and figure what the hey I should be ok and if not I will just finish up a few weeks earlier. I am having off till the beginning of term two so with Christmas hols etc I should end up having about 18 weeks off give or take!!! Well I am buggered after my first day back at work so I am off to bed!! Night belly runs and loves!!!

Yeah I will be, kind of. I work in a birth centre but I can't have my baby there cause I have some medical issues so I really need to be overseen by an obstetrician. So yes, at the some hospital but in the normal labour ward, not the birth center unfortunately. I am such an avid advocate for normal and natural birth and I can't necessarily follow that route sad.gif ! Actually, it depends how everything goes, I may have no problems at all but that's how the cookie crumbles.
mummy2Ali*Lachie
Hey I am popping in when I should be getting my teaching programs sorted but am having a freak out. I went into worship this morning (christian school) and was told one staff memeber is not in today and will not be in next week till she feels up to it. Her friend passed away last night from ....swine flu she was 26 weeks pregnant and she went down hill yesterday so they got bubs out and mum died later in the night leaving two other littlies and bubs with no mummy. They had mum in an induced coma to ease the stress on her heart and kindneys and had thought about getting bubs out a few times but knew mum would die if they did. I was freaking out enough yesterday about swine flu as it was let alone to come into work today and find that all of what we were discussing yesterday had ended with Janice's friend dying. cry1.gif I rang centrelink and they will give us nothing as DH earns too much so I can't stop working...I am almost at the point of wanting to hibernate in my house and just grow my little one!!! ssorry.gif I have glen 20 on my desk and hand sanitiser to keep the germs at bay but it's not like I can wear a mask around all my little lovlies???? Ahhh I wish I was like 36 weeks and bubs was all grown and ok to be born if need be!!! Oh well I have had my vent my get my program done!!! Seeya ohmy.gif
~Mo+Moosh~
Oh Wendy that is terrible. I too share your concern. We had our first confirmed case of a pregnant lady with swine flu here in town yesterday.

Finishing work - I will probably finish around the start of December. I too have a desk job so not very physically taxing but will just see how I am travelling. I finished just before Christmas with Jack mainly because our office has compulsory Christmas shutdown.

We have our scan on Monday. I cannot wait to see if I am right and that this baby is a boy. I will be very shocked if they tell me any different.

ausktl
hoping4bubs - same as Mum2JC - that is terrible. Is there anyway you can wear a mask - i am sure the adults would understand and if you explained to the children somehow????? Isn't there something about employees having to provide safe work enviornments for pregnant people - though not sure how this would work for something like the flu where it is technical a hypothetic thing, rather than say working around hazardous chemicals. Sorry not much help!
Mum2JC - probably won't post before the weekend - so good luck for your scan on Monday.

I like them a lot!! but the king parrot range which is all so made by the same company and are very similar are cheaper by a bit original.gif

the swin flu is definately a worry for all of us preggo's isn't it ohmy.gif i have my dettol handstuff in my bag for the shops and make my trips as quick as possible! I know it's a huge thing for any of us to catch it and endanger our babies but staying at home all the time would drive me BONKERS!
Mercurial
hoping4bubs - that is so scary. It's just so hard to know what to do. I've probably got more chance of DH bringing it home, he sees around three clients a day and sits across a desk from them for 2 hours talking so high chance of things being passed on. I guess the only thing we can do is take the sensible precautions and just pray that we don't get it. Also try to bear in mind (though very hard to do with the media hype) is that the majority of the population (even the pregnant ones) who catch it will recover well.

mum2jc - I had a feeling this one was a little girl and wasn't surprised at all when the said girl. The pregnancy is different and I'm carrying different too, I know that doesn't always mean anything but I had an inkling.

iwanttobakesomebuns - I saw the reports about pregnant ladies staying home and not going to public places - that's pretty impractical advice for 99% of the population.

AFM - had my OB appt this morning. She's given me a script for some different drugs to try for the reflux. The ones I currently take are category C and she said she'd prefer to try these other ones first and only use the ones I normally do if I have no luck. She was horrified by the extent of my eczema but agrees that due to the already damaged skin I can't keep using the steroid creams for the moment. So I'll take some antihistamines to try and help make me drowsy to the itching doesn't wake me at night. The SPD she just said yeah it'll be prob be worse this time becuase my pelvis probably didn't tighten fully after I had Hayden. She was happy with my scan results and agreed I'd need a later scan to check the placenta position. She said it needs to move at least another inch before she'd be happy letting me have a natural birth. She said though that it most likely will move so not to worry too much about it. 20 weeks today, hooray for being halfway. Though it meant I had to pay the pregnancy management fee today - ouch. Will be straight down to medicare this arvo to get that reimbursed.

DS has started an annoying habit of pooing about 10 mins after I put him down for his midday sleep. Obviously just extends the time it takes him to get to sleep. I've talked to him a few times this week about trying the toilet rather than a nappy but he's really not keen on the idea. Oh well.
okcomputer
h4bi09 - that's just awful, unfortunately it's the odd cases where babies or the mother's pass away from complications of swine flu that we tend to focus on it more. We just don't hear about the thousands of pregnant women that have contracted it and it has been complication free. I think you are probably doing all you can with frequent hand washing and spraying everything, just try and keep a good distance from the children if you can although this would be next to impossible.

goddess - I had DD3 in a birth centre, figured if I had to travel I may as well try out a birth centre (our local country hospital was closed for a few years for maternity so I had to travel an hour and a half away to get to the hospital) I have always been under MW care, I just see the OB once during each pregnancy as I think it's mandatory or something, you may be able to shed some more light on this. I like the philosophy of birth centres, minimal interference, allowing woman to trust in their own bodies etc.

moh - I will be thinking of your placenta and praying for it to move. (i just read that back and i sound strange)

ausktl - sorry I know nothing about boori cots, I am getting one from Ikea (if you are near a store) that converts into a bed, have you checked these out. They are reasonably priced and you can get the matching furniture.

mum2jc - good luck with your scan, mums intuition is usually right

AFM - Travelling well, still seem to have all my energy which is great. Varicose veins are huge and my vulval one is maturing nicely, still not big enough yet to give DH a fright oomg2.gif but it's getting there. Thank goodness it goes when I lie down so I still look nice and sexy laugh.gif

Oh Wendy that is just awful sad.gif I'm trying to stay calm about the whole thing and not get swept up in the hype, but it makes things harder when you hear things like that. I stupidly got on a bus at peak hour the other day (at uni, so packed with students!), and lasted one stop before getting off and walking the rest of the way. It was so stuffy and hot- not to mention noone stood up to give me a seat (I know I don't have a belly yet, but I did stick it out REALLY far to see if anyone would give me a seat tongue.gif rolleyes.gif ).

austkl- I got a boori cot off ebay. I really hadn't done a lot of research, so it's difficult to say if it's 'worth' it or not, but it IS a lovely cot. I got it for around $400 (though could probably get cheaper?), and it's in very good condition. Having said that, I have heard the ikea ones are really good (rate well on choice), and much cheaper than boori. But it's also easy to get matching accessories on ebay for boori, if that comes into the decision at all. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase biggrin.gif

mum2jc - good luck with your scan on Monday!

Sorry I don't have more to say today- I have been reading but have been feeling exhausted over the last few days as work has been flat out. So I keep putting off posting as I'm too tired to think!

Oh- I'm thinking I'll finish up mid-November or so? That gives me 3 weeks until my due date- although I might start working from home a bit more before then, I have good flexibility original.gif

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day ladies waves.gif
biene_maja
Hi girls,

Had my u/s done this morning and SHE is still a babygirl.gif !
All looked good but I have to go back Thursday next week because she wouldn't turn around and technician couldn't get a relly good look at heart & nasal bone. She said it's nothing to worry about though. And I know that the nasal bone was fine at 12 week u/s but because it was done in Germany they can't just take my word for it. What she could see of the heart looked fine too. So it's all good.

I'm feeling a bit weird at the moment. Maybe you guys can help me make a decision. Up until yesterday I thought I'd want to try for a VBAC this time. DD1 was induced (due to gestational diabetes etc) and after 48 hours of off & on labour her heartrate went down and I had an emergency c/s.
Since yesterday for some reason I've been thinking I should maybe go for an elective c/s instead. The main reason is that they'll probably want to induce me again because of GD. DD1 was 9 pounds 6 ounces at 38 weeks (4275g) so if I went a few weeks longer and waited for natural labour I could end up with a 10 pound baby. I think I'd prefer to take the safe option and not have another induction go wrong and then worry if baby would be ok.

What would you do in my situation???
alibaba~81
Hi Maren,
Sorry I don't have any advice on VBAC v elective caesar, being a first timer, I just wanted to say congrats on having another babygirl.gif !!! I'm sure some of the other mummies will have some ideas/advice for you original.gif
All the best!
*iwanttobakesomebuns*
Maren - congrats on a baby girl! original.gif i'm sorry but i dont have any advice for you on a c-section or vbac, as i haven't been there and done either wink.gif

austkl - i just remembered that the boori cots are slightly bigger than all the other cots and you need to use special sized sheets for them which obviously cost a little more, just somethine for consideration wink.gif

alibaba~81 - i am shattered each day after work too and feel so tired i almost fell asleep at 3ish the other day when i put my head down on the desk laughing2.gif

mumofhayden - bugger about your ds pooing straight after you put him down! Glad you got something to help with your eczema, i had that as a child and it was awful.... and great to get something for the reflux too!

Just ate half a pack of starburst snakes and i'm feeling flip flops in my tummy! laughing2.gif
ausktl
without checking back - mumofhayden i can only assume it was your DS not your DH pooing after you put him down!!! roll2.gif
Have a great weekend everyone. I am off to Orange - nice and chilly - for Christmas in July!
