Hi all
New thread time
Previous threadCongratulations to those whose bubs have arrived and all the best to those still waiting.
Also just some FYI for anyone who is a first timer in the DIG's this thread will not close until the last bub has arrived unless of course you all decide to move to the Parents Group earlier, just let me know via PM if you choose to do this but otherwise I will keep opening threads.
Kind regards

I am reserving the right of the wooden spoon here for myself, so you will have to find your own!

I think I will definitely be one of the last people standing! I'm reknown for going over dates!

Ok back again
Savanah pics are beautiful.
Saw obsetrician on tuesday said bub was engaged, I thought he said see you in two weeks, which makes no sense since it's weekly visits. but I think he said see you in a couple of days. The top of my stomach feels quite soft, but still getting kicked up high. So not sure what is going on. Also still have mucus plug. Stressing a little over what will happen with Mary when I go in, since all depends on timing. I am hoping that I get enough warning for Mum and Dad to drive down before I have to go to hospital. But ob wants me in pretty early.
Hope everyone is going well.
PS can I buddy with anyone please. So I can email or sms details of birth. (hubby is sending out email and sms's)

Wow three new babies since I was on here last night....
Congratulations to Terri and Family on the birth of Sarah
Congratulations to Shell and Family on the birth of Elijah Thomas
Congratulatons to Simplyblue and family on the birth of Cooper Charles
Mum and Dad arrived last night and we've spent the day playing with DD. It is so great to see them getting to play with her not to mention having lots of other people around to entertain her so I don't have to.....As for baby news - nothing on my front. I'd say I'm a good contender for the wooden spoon too - definitely don't count me out.

So over the insomnia.... I think I'll get the spoon - got it in my last DIG... WEnt for a scan on Tuesday where they discovered that the baby is not longer a giant, and is now a normal soze...sono need to panic and have early caeser or anything. Just going to wait...which means I may have a chance to go naturally, but if I go over they'll want to induce (which I am terrified of due to previous bad experience). So hold thumbs for me ladies, that I ge to experience natural labour this time.
BIGGEST CONGRATS TO ALL THE LADIES WITH BUBS! Close call Shell... glad the little nam made it out ok.
Take care and I'll be checking to see if there is anymore news. Not much else to do in the middel of the night when everyone else is sleeping! My mum arrives from South Africa tomorrow night. Maybe with her jet lag I'll have company in the middle of the night!

I have been up since 02:30 and am just about to try and go back to bed! Have a hairdresser apt at 09:30 so will be nice and relaxing - just hope I don't fall asleep on the massage chair while she is washing my hair!
Will be

Babies Babies everywhere!! Congratulations Teri, Simply Blue and Shell!! I think two people whe were due on the same date as me have had babies already, maybe I'll be early too??
Nothing really to report with me, saw the midwife yesterday (someone mentioned student midwives - I had 2 and they were both wonderful - one was a man which was unusual). Baby still only 4/5 engaged and everything else is fine. Bubs been pushing down hard on my cervix and rolling from side to side which has been quite painful. Wouldn't have thought there'd be enough room to move in there now.
Insomnia - I wake up at about 1am every night. I've been catching up on bad b-grade late night movies on Showtime.
Hope everyone is well, can't wait to see who's next!!

Lots of us up wee hours of the morning!
Helen enjoy that massage chair, get them to turn it up full, might get baby moving hehe. I avoided the chair all pregnancy, might go into the salon (I'm a hairdresser) and sit on it all day, now there's an idea!
Cathy, there's never anything decent on tv in the early morning hey, its either crappy movies, religious shows or buying 2 get one free!

I have to say im still enjoying being pregnant.... i know others have had it hard etc, and i truly understand that for you ladies, i really do, in my case not knowing if i may experience pregnancy again! But that being said, im really looking forward to meeting my DD!
Our journey as pregnant mums is coming to a end but our journey as mums is just beginning! Looking forward to sharing every bit of the journey with you all. Although it may be some weeks before we all manage a post, lol.... i have family here until January though, i dont know if that will make it easier or harder to post!
Anyway just my POV.

Congrats to the new ladies with babies!!!!! Yay! Its all getting very exciting, Im another though that thinks I will be one of the last to go so dont go hogging that wooden spoon just yet ladies!
Im another who is still enjoying being pregnant and dont have the 'want it out now' thoughts or feelings. I loved being pregnant last time too but I was anxious for bub to come by the end given I was 10 days late, but loved it all the same!
I actually wuld prefer if bubs stays put for a little while longer, as much as I would like to meet him/her! I have 4 days of work left and would like a couple at home to finalise things around the house before the arrival. I still havnt packed a bag yet either

Thats on the agenda for this weekend, along with the skirting boards, window sills, windows and bathrooms

Hopefully I get the time to get it all done
Nut - have you taken Alex for a haircut yet? If so, where do you go? Just your normal hairdresser? I dont have one so wondering if there was a good place to take kids for their first haircut

I'm more then happy being pregnant. I'm not huge so I am still mobile etc etc.
I just feel that I want the baby out so I know he is ok and safe!
I would also like to stop taking all this medication that makes me feel unwell. I've never been on to take pills, will rarely take a panadol for a head ache, so taking lots of meds 3 times a day is hard for me.. not to mention I feel like i'm going to faint everytime i stand up...
I'm liking pregnancy, I would just like to know my baby is safe and ok. I think as i cant see him in there...
No more babies yet?- I think we're having more then the 1-15th DIG... lol.
Mychubbybubbies should have some news today. But I dont think she had a buddy.
Ok off to my middy appointment- fingers crossed they can tell me my baby is engaged and i'm starting to get ready... doubtful- but heres to hoping
At1 - Alex has had 10 haircuts so far. His first was at 6 months when his hair was to his shoulders and past his eyes. He has had them every 6 weeks or so since then as it grows so fast!!!
A friend of my sister is a hairdresser and comes to the house to do the family haircuts. I have to bring a portable DVD player for Alex to watch during it or he moves around too much. He's not keen on sitting still.
Pregnancy wise, I love being pregnant!!! But I am looking forward to meeting hazel too. Physically pregnancy doesn't stop me doing much. I still pick up Alex and flip him upside down, twist him around and do all sorts of acrobatic things with him. Can tie my shoes and do much anything else.
I hope that our 9 months together enjoying our pregnancies continues on to some great friendships and shared experiences as our children grow up. I have to say my DIG from Alex died down to practically nothing and I find that really disappointing.

Afternoon,
Have been out all day and actually feel pretty good! Hairdresser was good but they would not turn on the massage chair - scared that it might bring on an early labour........it was still a nice relaxing experience.
Got to see a whale in the bay today - was great. There has been lots coming and going at present but I have always missed them.
BBL to check for baby news.
Cheers

Afternoon....
Nut, thanks. I have just booked someone over this side of town who works from home so will take him to her place tomorrow. He loves his hair being played with and done so hopefully he will sit still!! He is VERY good and still for the Dr while they check him out so fingers crossed!
Just got caught off guard, received a phone call from the imaging place at Canberra hospital, they were calling to book in my ultrasound! The middy hadnt called to say I needed one so was really put on the spot to book a time.
At my appointment on Tuesday, the midwife was concerned that there hasnt been much growth in the last 4 weeks and that I am still carrying small so she mentioned the possibility of a scan but would check with the Dr first. Obviously he thought I should get one too which is why they called to book me in. She knows I carried small with DS and I showed her all my stuff from being pregnant with him and I was measuring exactly the same at 38 weeks with him as I am now. I am not concerned at all but obviously they have to do their job and double check.
Oh well, another chance to see bubs, just hope I dont get a look in at the downstaors bit cos I really dont want to find out now! Hoping bub can stay put until the 18th - more than likely he\she will anyway!

Back from OB baby is pretty much fully engaged at the point 1/5. Didnt do an internal but all systems go for 7am tomorrow morning! About to have a panadine forte then off to bed for some rest.
Great news clm! Hopefully it means all will go well for you.
If I can't hop on to do your update in here I can get my sister to do it as well if you like. She'll be doing mine anyway

Hi ladies,
I am still around. It all stopped again overnight and today. Only thing keeping me positive is that I know it is doing something. Not sure if I mentioned it but at my obs appointment I was 2-3cm and cervix was super soft. I went for a 4hr shopping spree today and will have a curry tonight to hopefully get things going again. I know she will come when ready but all this stopping and starting isn't the best LOL.
Congratulations to the 3 mummies that have recently had their babies

Hi Girls,
CLM - Good luck for tomorrow morning, how exciting!!!!
Wilma - Yes I would be VERY p*ssed off about that woman. But I am sure you will be ok, try not to worry about it.
Nadine - GOOD LUCK tonight, I will be waiting on your txt message!
AFM - lots of BH again today, but I keep telling bub "you don't have to wait too much longer now, just hang in there".

DP IS FLYING HOME TONIGHT!!!!!!

I PICK HIM UP FROM THE AIRPORT AT 5.45AM TOMORROW!

YAY!!!
I hope we can all remain friends after this time together, even if we don't get onto EB as much. The FB group is great, because I will check it out regularly while I'm on FB.
I don't think I'll be on here much over the next few weeks as I really want to spend as much quality time with DP as possible before, during and after bub's arrival. I hope you all understand if I can't keep up with the threads, but I'll definitely still check for new bubs and news. And will keep in touch with sms buddies.
Wilma - Yep I would be pretty peeved. What's she doing at work in the first place if she's sick after having been exposed? I would even consider complaining to the head of the company she works for about that.
Tep - Woohoo!! That's great!!
Nadine - I can understand the frustration with stopping and starting. But hopefully it means that the early stuff will be over and you'll have a quick and easy delivery!

Nadine - Sounds like you and i are having the same problem with the stop start labour its quite annoying. I only hope that once they break my waters tomorrow it goes fairly quick.
Nut - Thanks i may do my own update we will see, dont really want to bother poor giselle as she already has had her bub and needs the rest im sure! I may message you as well see how im feeling.
A little scared, excited, nervous but just really over this bub being on the inside.
May not post again today but once they break my waters in the morning and i am waiting for contractions to start i may post from the hospital.

ok what do you make of my Swine Flu story then?
Have had mild flu symptoms the last two or three days - slight temp, stuffy nose, and also a few aches and pains and fatigue which could just as easily be late pregnancy. Friend called me this morning to say that she had been to the doctor today and been told that she 'most likely' has Swine Flu but despite her also being pregnant, they didn't test her.
Called my GP to make appt and was told by receptionist that the doctor won't be interested in seeing me unless I have major symptoms - i,e raging temp, cough, sore throat etc and besides they weren't testing anymore anyway (WTF?!).
I happened to be at the hospital later today anyway for a blood test so I called the antenatal clinic from the carpark (as waiting room full of pregnant women) and told them the situation. They said that I should go straight to the EMG dept and get swabbed and to tell the staff there that Antenatal had sent me to them.
EMG staff treated me like i was the biggest drama queen out, complete with a few eye rolls, took my temperature which was normal, and told me to come back if was showing more symptoms.
I am totally confused. QLD Health has published info about pregnant women going straight to docs or EMG if even mildly symptomatic especially if they have had confirmed exposure. My doc told me the same thing, as did the antenatal class people/ So WTF is one supposed to do?! I said to the EMG staff that I was only concerned bec I was heavily pregnant and (lightheartedly) said I didn't want to be the statistic who was told that she should have come in earlier after the damage is done. I feel really stupid for having even bothered.
sorry all about ME today....eveyone is travelling ok

Jakeruby - I am not sure what else you could do, but I would be equally annoyed and confused by their reactions also. What more could you have done???
Anyway, I hope you get over your symptons very soon so You have nothing to worry about.
clm - I will probably also only be in hospital 24 hours as well, if not less. If I go into labour tonight chances are I will be home tomorrow afternoon. I am sure we can work something out

Jakeruby - It's just ridiculous isn't it. There is no continuity at all to the whole swine flu thing. Personally I would push for testing anyway and disregard the stupid attitude. If I get it, I don't care. If Alex or baby were to get it... Especially if I passed it to Hazel immediately after giving birth or something... Nope.

Hi All,
Aww, no more baby news!
jakeruby - YES you should be tested!!!!!! The only ones that ARE being tested now are pregnant women! ALL pregnant women should be tested if showing flu like symptoms. Did you take panadol before seeing them? maybe that's why temp was down when you were there and up at home?
I agree on Aust. health not doing anything about controlling SF. It's so ridiculous that it got to the point that it did, and that by going to the shops people are still catching it. Sigh. If only people would respect others and stay at home when they are sick...
Best of luck to the few in the early stages of labor and being induced tomorrow! May you have short easy births and be holding you new little babies very soon

Congratulations chubbybubbies! (All these girls!)
jakeruby - The whole thing is a debacle. I posted earlier about my run in with swine flu this morning (but edited it out for reasons I won't bore you with). It is really annoying that you have to get grumpy with doctors/nurses in order to get a result, but if you are really concerned, I'd try another medical centre and demand that you be tested. I think it is irresponsible that they haven't tested you. Particularly don't muck around if your temp goes back up. We are so close to the end and it would be terrible for bub to get sick at this point. Good luck.

Jakeruby: My DP had the flu last week and I went into the doctors with him so they'd know why we wanted to get tested, they said they dont test anymore! He said its highly likely he has it, gave him a sick note for 7 days, told him to wear a mask for a week and to stay a metre away from me!! He said that cause I'm so close to the end I'm out of the danger zone WTF? He said the only dangerous part for me and the baby was the baby can't regulate its own temperature so it would overheat. He also said if I start to get any symptoms to go get tamliflu over the counter that I didn't need to get checked or tested

what is with these doctors? I think you should try go to another doctors surgery maybe see a female doctor they seem more understanding especially if they have children themselves, I bet they wouldn't hesitate to test on their own family.

hi
CONGRATULATIONS SHELL, SIMPLYBLUE AND MYCHUBBYBUBBIES, HOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL
shell- how scary, so glad that your little man is ok.
bnblewis- GBS, the ab is benzylpenicillin, 1.2g push. if you are allergic to penicillin then vancomycin is used. i kept my cannula in, they give doses of benzyl pen 4 hourly ( not that i got to 4 hours!). i was cannulated in my forearm, so it didn't get in the way.
it must be worrying for you, feeling that your little man isn't growing. i can quite understand you wanting to meet him.
oh blimey completely forgotten who else i need to reply too, can't even blame preggo brain!
i was in the "get it out of me club" hyperemesis completely ruins pregnancy for me. it is so wonderful to now be able to cook for the family, to sit and eat with the family, to drink without retching. on the plus side, hyperemesis means that i am now lighter than i was before i fell pregnant! plus this time the ankle injury really marred the end of my pregnancy. not that it is easy now, but hopefuly now the hormones are settling it will heal.
sms buddies anyone needing a buddy, just pm me. i am more than happy to pass on news.
time to go , eldest dd, desperate to practice division!!
Congrats mychubbybubbies!
Gee we are very GIRL heavy arnt we!
on the swine flu - I think they over reacted initially and now that they have realised how bad it actually ISNT, they are just acting like they should have in the first place. DS or myself were not tested a couple weeks back even though they said SF was a possibility. I wasnt worried, and neither were the midwives when I called mine to just let her know the circumstances.
Personally, I wouldnt be worried, all signs point to the fact that everyone, Pregnant women included, are fine as long as they dont have existing medical conditions that could cause concern. Pregnancy is not a medical condition.
Just my take on it.
