We're looking at upgrading our 3G & 3Gs iphones to the iPhone4. We'd like to hold onto the old phones in case we have any problems with the new ones (been there before!!). So we were thinking we could use them as iTouches at home to be shared by the family. Does anyone know if this works?

Can we still sync to iTunes without sim cards?
Can we still use the WiFi at home without the sim cards?

Cheers

Absolutely. My SIM couldn't be activated for a couple of weeks after I bought it so I used my iPhone as an iTouch and it worked perfectly. Yes it syncs to iTunes and yes it could be used on WiFi.

Yes to both questions....my iphone is no good as a phone at the moment (freezes up/sends same sms multiple times) but we still sync it with Itunes and use the wifi at home. As well as use the apps, DDs love the games etc.

We use ours without a sim. It can be used for skype calling (we dont use the camera for skype), very handy as you can still walk around the house using wifi and chatting away.
