No pretty sure you can't. Apple have made sure you can't tether your iPhone to your iPad, so would be the same for all phones.
I checked with DH too (Mac nut

) and he said no you can't.
Would be handy though!

Do you have wifi at home?

Hi thanks for the reply, I have been trying to google it with not much luck. Yes I have wifi at home was just hoping I could use my mobile as a modem thing when out as I don't have the wifi+3G option on my iPad.
Is there anyway at all I could connect when out?
Having a Mac nut at home could be helpful (sometimes) haha.

What about those pocket routers from virgin or vodafone, the are mobile Internet that other devices can then access.

Have you used them before, I don't really know anything about them?

No, saw them at the vodafone shop, it's a modem and wifi in one, looked good though as you could share the connection between iPad an say an iPod touch. Would be the sam as 3G onl your modem is accessing vi wifi rathe than directly from iPad.

I thought the tethering was something you organise with you mobile provider. I did look into it but was to costly for the small need I did have, it was easier to wi-fi at home.

Thank you for the replies. Does anyone know if the portable devices are costly to use?

With connect when out, you could either use the free wi-fi if there is a hot spot available or you could buy a portable wireless router.
DH has this one from
Telstra its $129 and comes with 5GB data. Then when that runs out you can buy top ups. You can also connect up to five devices to it.

Thanks for the link, do you know how long would 5gb last roughly?

I haven't tried it but wouldn't it be possible to connect your iPhone to the iPad using the camera connection kit. The connection kit in effect gives you a USB point which the iPad doesn't have.

Thank you for all replies, I am going to look into getting a portable wifi device, just waiting for all the public holidays to finish so I can get to a store.
Thanks again
