My DD is almost 10, she was diagnosed at 4 with Tree nut allergies and 6 months ago was also diagnosed with egg and peanut as well
She was going along fine, she would eat things that said "may contain traces" if she was at home with me but school we were more strict.
A few months ago DD had a reaction to some chocolate that had a hazelnut prailiine which was missed on a label which was so terrifying for DD. Since then she will not eat anything that says may contain traces as she is so scared of dying.
I am just a bit worried about her anxiety about all of this, its great that she is so educated and proactive of her allergies but she has been losing weight due to being scared to eat.
Earlier this year DD aslo too part in a study about the affects of allergies on children her age and also the whole family which I thought was wonderful for this to be recognised as so stressful for families and she was doing really well so they lady said. The lady had said if they rate really high that they may offer counselling which at this point now I really think that we should look into it.
Has anyone else persued this at all in relation to allergies?
We are seeing her allergy specialist on Monday to follow up her dustmite desensitisation, I am hoping to briefly speak to him about it and see what he thinks and if he can recommend anything but just though if anyone had any advise in here that would be helpful it would be much appreciated.
