Robyn thanks for doing the list - so organised!

This is the first time I've checked EB in AGES!! I've just been hanging on the facebook group really.

Been going through baby clothes this evening and getting really clucky about the new baby!! Seems like it's just around the corner now I'm almost in to the third trimester.

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward the weekend tthumbs.gif

Hi everyone, busy week for me.... Have been at a conference in Sydney, and trying to keep up with medical people on the loose can be quite hard work, let alone sitting in lecture halls all day....

Also developed a touch of the fat ankles, probably due to the fact I have been mostly sitting since sunday, and had 2 plane trips in the mix as well.... I'm hoping that isn't here to stay....
Did make an effort to get in the pool and drink plenty of water today, and spent the rest of the time asleep on the couch... thats feet up I think....

I'm really low on news otherwise... only 9 clinical shifts left, which is pretty exciting...

I have no idea about baby showers, certainly was not going to plan one for myself, and noones said anything.
havent booked in for the GTT have an ob appt next week, so I think thats when all that will happen...not looking forward to it...

Hope everyone is well

Thanks for your support girls. Was just having a really emotional day and needed to vent. Thanks for listening!

Risa Enjoy your social weekend!

Wizzlet I hear you on the emotions at the moment. Maybe it's another growth surge similar to how we felt at 21 weeks? Can't wait for it to pass. I hate the feeling that I'm on the verge of tears all the time sad.gif

Veina Gosh, I felt exhausted just reading your post! hope this weekend is better for you.
Choufleur
Excited about going shopping with DH tomorrow to buy the cot and change table etc at the DJ's baby expo. Wondering whether if DH is there he will be clucky at all and let me buy more baby clothes (25% off! = bargain), or if he'll be all boring and sensible.

It's DH's birthday tomorrow so he doesn't really want the whole day to be about the baby, which I can understand but we are having a dinner party. Going to do something easy and fuss free as I'm not in the mood for cooking a feast.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend xx
Veina
Chourfleur - hope the party is a success!

Bought paint recently for the baby room. Is it safe to paint using acrylic and oil based paints whilst pregnant? Want to get cracking. I really enjoy painting and am a bit of a perfectionist so want to do it myself. My removable wall decals for an 'outer space' theme arrived and are very cute. Cost $89 incl delivery but should be enough to cover the whole wall and not be too dated - should get 8 years out of the theme which would be cool. Got from Wallspace - have a look if you're after inspiration for walls. http://www.wallspace.com.au/p/473504/bosco...uter-space.html Also go a removable chalk board to stick up from http://www.thewallstickercompany.com.au/ and they cut it to the size of the space which is good.

DH is away for a week. Of course, our beautiful cat decides that this is the time to develop an eye ulcer or something. So packed him up to the vet yesterday and now have to apply antibiotics to his eyelid on my own twice daily. Here's hoping I don't get scratched to shreds! Actually, he was well behaved this morning so hoping it's ok. Is my mum's bday tomorrow so may have a sleep over at her's tonight to get some nice mum/daughter time.

10 weeks of work left and counting! Yesterday was almost enough to make me want to jump out the window. I went to a conference the other year and a management consultant said something that has really stuck with me: "70 per cent of everything we do at work will never end up being used and is a waste of organisational productivity". Sums up my day really! Hopefully child reering will be a more meaningful use of my time.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Genabee
Viena - You crack me up! I'm pretty sure about 90% of what I do is just filling in time.... My bosses are useless. They don't run this place like a business, but instead it is a hobby for them. They forget that some of us a) actually rely on it as a source of income (is it that hard to stick to a designated pay day!!!??? really???), b) actually have qualifications in what we are supposed to be doing and that it is an insult to our intelligence to question us and think otherwise and c) would actually like to do something that is productive, rather than entertain their children all day......... huh.gif

Cho - I hope DH is not sensible and boring as per your prediction!!

Happy Mummy - Sending you hugs lovely.

AFM - Not much that is new. Tomorrow is the first day of our two day calmbirth course. I am a bit excited, though not really sure of what to expect. DH is nervous as he thinks it will involve looking at lots of footage of lady bits in compromising positions!!!!! laugh.gif He is bracing himself to kiss his sex life goodbye! laughing2.gif
Veina
Wizzlet - I totally agree about your views on work! Oh it's a bane to have a good work ethic these days! wink.gif

I thought about us doing a calm birth course, but they're like $800 so I decided not to. But I'd love to hear how it goes! I have a low pain threshold so am a bit nervy about how the birth and labour is going to go. Having witnessed two births and one labour, it sure looks tough!

I'm looking into HD and I doing a St John's 1st Aid caring for kids course next month or so, so am hoping that's helpful.

Have been putting off exercise all day, but just inhaled half a Lindt dark chocolate easter bunny so I've really done it now and must must must go! On the up side, have only put on .75 kg each week for the last fortnight so am 11.5kg up since conception - they suggest max of 10 at this stage (26w today!), but at least I'm not feeling quite so enormous now.

Have a great day.

Genabee
Viena - We are booked into Naturally Calmbirth with Sue Power (in Melbourne) and it has cost us $450 - that is for two successive Sundays 9am to 4.30pm, morning tea provided..... I will let you know how it goes!

I am not sure how I will go with the pain... I really really want to try for minimal intervention. I want to labour at home for as long as I can before going to the hospital... and have the freedom of moving around. I just want to be able to get up and move around afterwards (ie. shower straight away!!) so having an epi. could get in the way of that - and I've not heard a lot of great things about pethadine... it's effects on both Mum and Baby. So, here's hoping. Of course, if I end up having a c-section, that all goes out the window anyway! All that being said, I really have no idea what I am in for and I reserve the right to change my mind on the day!! Ultimately I want a healthy, happy baby and if that means drugs, so be it.

I am pleased to hear I am not the only one inhaling chocolate by the kilo!!!!! To make it worse, some local kids knocked on the door yesterday afternoon selling freddos for a fundraiser - DH bought me two of them!!!! Well, apparently one is for me and the other is for Maddie! rolleyes.gif This kid will be born a choc-aholic!

10 weeks of work left and counting! Yesterday was almost enough to make me want to jump out the window.

Sounds just like my Thursday. I have 15 more work days then two weeks holidays then 18 more days and I am done... technically it is 7 weeks work with 2 weeks in the middle but I like the break down of days - makes it seem closer!! biggrin.gif

I have started to read up about the birth and I watched a birth video on http://www.babycenter.com/2_inside-pregnan...o-9_10302602.bc but it made me feel yuck! Glad I watched it before I went to a pregnancy class as I would hate to go all weak at the knees in front of all those expectant mums! Looking forward to hearing how the calm birth classes go.

Wizzlet I am exactly the same as you - I want to stay at home and progress as much into the labour as I can before I go to the hospital. I am more than happy to take the drugs but the thought of not having feeling in my legs does worry me. Wizzlet, My SIL was made to wait 24 hours before showering after giving birth, apparently it helps to make the baby bond etc?! Not sure what the policy is at the hospital I am going to, but I plan on showering before 24 hours is up!! Veina I have an ok pain threshold but I pass out when I get a needle! I have a serious problem with needles so I have no idea how I will cope at hospital! (I am starting to get better as I have monthly blood tests with my thyroid but I still need to lie down for 20 mins after the test and still fainted once this year sad.gif )

I checked my weight this morning too and I have put on 8kg so far. Apparently this is right on the average weight gain for my height. So I am happy with that. I did put on a kg this week, too much icecream! I have given up chocolate and lollies for lent so I think I over compensated with the icecream!!!

AFM Had pilates this morning then I went to the shops and bought a great baby monitor today!! Very excited got it on sale, it only monitors sound I didn't want one with a sensor mat so I am very happy. I also went to target and bought my discounted bottle steamer and three bottles. I wasn't sure if I should buy the 0 month nipples or not as the bottles came with the 1+ month nipples. I really want to try to breast feed so I'm not sure. Anyway lots of time to decide. Kept all my receipts on the off chance that I wont need them!

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend... nothing but rain rain rain here!

I am pretty sure the hospital will have a fight on their hands if they try that with me!!!!! Mine kick me out after 24 hours anyway, couldn't see them not letting me shower. How gross!!! My plan is:

Will labour away at home then make mad dash to the hospital (this will happen in the middle of the night to avoid traffic!!). Arrive at hospital just in time to push baby out - no time to think about pain relief options. Have a shower and a snooze. Be home in MY bed by 8am..... roll2.gif laughing2.gif laugh.gif

If I am anything like the rest of the women in my family, it will all happen very quickly...

I am dreading my Csection, as I too am petrified of needles. For the last csection they had to give me a local to out the drip in my arm as i was hysterical! We did IVF for this pregnancy too, and the trouble I have injecting myself with hormones is just terrible!

I need some advice in encouraging my drs to bring forward my c-section from 39 weeks to 37 or 38. We live 45 mins from the hospital, hubby works nights and we have a 2 yo. It means at least 1.5 hrs to hospital, if I go into labour at home. We also dont have family to take DD at short notice who are close by!

I have a larger than normal csection scar and I dont want to risk not being able to have more children by something going wrong! Wehn we saw the OB at 22 weeks he said oh if you labour and deliver before then great! He didnt get my concerns. I am hoping to see a different OB (hospital clinic) next appt.

Can someone tell me what is the common eviction date for a 2nd or 3rd csection? I feel as though 39 weeks is just too late!

Hope you all are having a great weekend! xx
Maeli
Hey ladies, sorry I have been slack, things have been chaotic around here as we have come into the 'finals' end of the sporting seasons. Sadly our lot have been knocked out of everything as of today, but they put in a really big effort biggrin.gif

I am still just cruising along. Getting bigger, & more uncomfortable & not sleeping sad.gif I stood up last night from the wooden bleechers at basketball & the sciatica shot straight through my butt/leg & my right knee was seized up. I seriously felt 100 years old. I've had trouble with my knee for a while, but pregnancy & just afterwards it seems to really play up sad.gif

Hope that everyone else is doing well biggrin.gif

I could be wrong, but I believe that these days unless there is a very good reason, that the Dr's can be liable if they deliver before 39 weeks for non-medical reasons because babies born at 37-38 weeks can still be born with 'prematurity' issues & have serious problems with breathing. I think that all you can do is present your arguement to your Dr & see if they are willing to work with you. If not, & your truly feel that the baby needs to be delivered before 39 weeks, then you may have to find another care provider who is more flexible.

Goodluck!

Oooooh heck no! For me one of the FIRST things I do the moment I am up & off of the delivery table is shower. I'd like to see someone try & stop me!! (Considering they can't 'make' you do anything! It makes me feel human again.

I know the reasoning behind it, as the baby gets to 'smell' you with no lotions or powders etc... on, but I don't think I've had any trouble with any of my babies bonding or finding the boob, so it's showers for me all the way!!

My father and 2 of my brothers are like this. It's called shock syndrome or something like that. They go into shock when they have a needle.

My Dad taught me how to turn off the ignition and pull the car over onto the side of the road when I was 7. Mum was in Sydney and he had to go to the dentist, so I had to go with him in case he passed out on the drive back home. He rested at the clinic and thankfully I never had to pull over, but it was still a bit scary.

Birth Plan - I still don't have a birth plan, I'm kind of avoiding thinking about it. We waited years before trying for a baby, and spent 7 months trying to get a baby in there, but I'm still not quite ready to think about getting it back out again......

I suppose I had better think about it soon, but I still have about 13 weeks to think about it... I hope.
Choufleur
Birth plan? Ah turn up and have baby... dear god I have no idea, I am in complete denial about actually having the baby. I tell people at work this on a regular basis, particularly the nosey ones. I genuinely though haven't really put my mind to it - am sure OB will have a discussion with me at some point.

Today I am enjoying being p/g, as DH and his friends (we ended up with 2 staying over last night due to the rain etc) are feeling very sorry for themselves. I on the other hand got up (to a leaking roof - not happy), have done several loads of dishes, done piles of washing up, watched a few hours of TV and now am thinking about lunch. biggrin.gif All in all the dinner party was a hit which was good, I was a bit worried about being disorganised but went off without a hitch! Hooray.

Had fun at DJ's yesterday, bought the cot and change table with matching mattresses / change mat for about $900, so that will arrive in about 4 - 6 weeks they say. Was very easy to do and ended up much cheaper than most online places due to the 20% off sale. Easy. Love it. Also managed (eventually) to get DH "interested" in shopping for the baby - we bought a cute toy and a couple of clothes. So all starting to come together.
Veina
Caught up with one of my girlfriends today who had a baby around 8 months ago. She gave me a tonne of stuff incl heaps of 4, 3 and 2 x 0 clothes, baby rocker, baby gym, nappies, towels, baby carrier and stand, bath and stand, bassinet bedding, baby slings plus heaps of other little bits and pieces. Plus my sister in law told me she has a car seat and those cloth nappies where you just wash the inserts, plus I got heaps of larger sized jumpers and PJs from someone else. I also got given a rocking chair, cot, bassinet and other baby slings off other people recently, so the last few weeks have been the verible feast of baby gift splender! I am rapt. Good to know I can save up spending my $200,000 (ave cost) on la veina starting a tiny bit later!

Now need to work backwards to what I don't have (starting with a car! Damned Kia Sportage DH ordered in January has been delayed and delayed. Now the dealer can't even tell us the month it's arriving and will get whatever colour is available. They've stopped taking orders apparently because it's so popular (won car of the year last year apparently). So we might either wing it and wait, or have to cancel and get something else, though most other similar sports wagons (AWD) on the market are markedly dearer....a quandary.

Spent most of my weekend scratching my head dreaming up new and wonderful ways to store stuff that has previously had a permanent home in what is fast becoming the nursery.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.
jodownunder
Hi All,

sorry for hardly posting. I have been reading though......

Veina - Sounds like you have got most things covered....all for free. What a bonus! Hope the car situation gets sorted. that sounds a bit bad on the garage though.

Choufleur - Glad your party went well. what did you make in the end. I'm not a great cook and panic about having people over! Congratulations on your purchases...it makes it all seem so real.

Kymberly - Sorry I have no advise regarding early ceasers. Hope you get it sorted though so you can plan.

Maeli - Your weekends always sound so jam packed....I don't know how you do it!

Wizzlet - i like your plan.....Hope your birthing course was helpful. I did an active one before DD at the local hospital and found it really useful.

birthplans - I don't really have a plan. And have not even booked into the hospital yet. with DD I stayed at home as long as possible, when we finally got to the hospital I was fully dilated so DD was born about 1 hour later. I got a shower, moved rooms and came home the next day so if I can have all that again I would be very happy! It won't be possible this time though because I am on clexane.

I'm also not organised at all. We need to buy a bed for DD so that bub can have the bassinet and then go into DD cot without DD getting upset. I'm not that keen though on trying to put DD to bed where she is not locked in!! I don't really want her roaming around upstairs!

everything else is going ok though. I can't beleive i'm 26 weeks now. Uni is already getting hard and I hate group assignments, especially when pregnant! No-one wants to be in a group with me as they are terrified that I am going to drop any day now!!!

Ok, best get back to said uni work. Hope everyone else is going ok.

Hey all

Been seriously internet deprived this week - goes to show how dependent I have become on it over the years LOL

I had my foetal echocardiogram today (my first baby had severe heart defects) and the specialist said that Miss Pip looks completely normal. I hadn't realised that I was stressing as much as I was until the sonographer said Ï'm just going to get the doctor"and I burst into tears, even though I realise it is not her job to tell me the results. He told me straight away that she is fine biggrin.gif Phew! Big sigh of relief.

Other than that, I have had nasty gastro since the weekend yuk and am lounging in bed, making DF get me fizzy drinks. Having a sick day tomorrow so hopefully will be back on my feet in the next couple of days. Still feeling very queasy and bleagh....

Birth plan? I have had 2 C sections and my Ob wasn't really keen on VBAC with my history of BP issues but I said I wanted to at least try. The plan is that if I don't go into labour spontaneously before 40 weeks, they will break my waters and wait to see what happens (no infusions or hormones). If nothing has happened within 24 hours, I will have a section. We were all happy with that, I have never experienced labour so it is all new to me - I think I am more frightened about having bad back pain then the actual labour pain, but I am pushing for an epidural right from the start.

Can't believe we are all hitting the downhill run - third trimester here we come!

Cheers

Jen

Hi everyone.

Sorry, no personals, in a bit of a rush, but have empathised, giggled and been throughful on the exchanges (so much in only one day! gosh). I'm booked in to deliver at a birth centre, in Canberra, it's low intervention - morphine and pethadine only and TENS machines (which I think i'll order to help manage any back pain, which I've heard for some people can be even worse than labour itself!).

As for the birth plan, I'm also trying to steer clear of high intervention birth. I saw my sister get administered an epidural and it looked seriously freaky and risky. However, at that point, I might be demanding anything to stop the pain! I'm hoping to labour at home for as long as possible too and then go in. Midwife says to call her when I get three contractions in 10 minutes, which sounds pretty close to me, but better than being forced to get a wriggle on at hospital. The Birth Centre also kicks people out between 3-24 hours due to lack of beds. I'll stick 'a bath' on the birth plan for sure though as there generally aren't too many around and I really want access to one if I can.

I too can't believe we're on the downward run and into the 3rd trimester. We have the get 'game ready'! Off to our first of four hospital-run birthing classes next week, so hoping that that goes well. Also off to my Glucose Load test next Monday (27wks) and I confirmed with ACT Pathology that it's a one hour wait between drinking the glucose load and the blood test, plus I was told not to eat anything 30 mins before the drink, so that's good to know.

Hope you're all having a great Monday.

Veina - super jealous at all your freebies, wow. I've had nothing, even though DH's brother has 3 kids and they won't have anymore. I know they are in the UK but they have stacks of money and to post piles of clothes and things over by sea would cost nothing - I mean I' still 3 months away wink.gif I'm the oldest on all sides of the family, and only the 2nd to have a baby so guess I'll be handing things down, not the other way around!

I hear you on the car thing, we ordered our Golf in January and we're not entirely sure whether it will arrive before the baby does - probably not. At least they did tell us there was a 5 month wait...

Hope your GTT went well today. Must book mine in for Thurs this week.

fruitbat72 - glad to hear Miss Pip's results were good. You must be so relieved!

jodownunder - dinner party was easy in the end, just some healthy soup (dietician approved!) and a casserole, and a quick dessert. I was quite proud of myself - everyone seemed to enjoy it thoroughly, although I reckon it was partly cos they were all a bit drunk!

AFM this rain is driving me spare, our roof is leaking and the agent just tells me it's the angle of the rain and they won't send anyone up there while it's wet. I can understand that, but it's really annoying and the bucket of water is right between our bedroom and the bathroom, lucky I didn't have to pee last night or I'd have tripped over it.

So much to do for work and all I want to do is procrastinate - ha - which is clearly why I'm here and not working ohmy.gif

Shadowess
Hi guys,

It's been ages since I've posted... I always read though.

Had my second morph scan this morning- this time they saw everything they needed to see, so that was good. Hopefully that's it for the morph scans now!

Just plodding along, otherwise... Bert keeps attacking my bladder, which is a bit painful, but apart from that all good. I've got 52 days of work left now, which can't come soon enough!

Birth Plans- I'm having a c/s again, so that's all taken care of. Last time though, my only plan was to have a baby, which, you know, I achieved! I guess if I was having a VBAC this time, maybe I'd question more about what was going on, before just agreeing to intervention etc. I don't know.. hard to say, when the decision has already been made for me.

Hand-me-downs- being the first in both our families to have kids, we went and bought everything. To be honest, I'm not sure that I would have accepted second hand stuff though, as I was pretty set on what I wanted and it's nice to have new stuff. 2 of my brothers have now had kids as well, and they've all gone out and bought their own stuff too.

Veina, I'm in Canberra to! I'm going to Calvary though.

Anyway, got to go to Adelaide for the day tomorrow, so will be up early for the first flight out. Better get myself sorted and head to bed.

Happy Monday All!

Just popping in quickly to say HI! waves.gif

Will try and get back again soon for personals, but just wanted to update on my weekend. Happy-mummy, it was indeed a very social weekend, but one full of MASSIVE surprises!

Had a great tapas afternoon at my GF's, then went home and got ready for the engagement party of DH's cousin (they are very close - more like brothers). About an hour into the party, he got up on the microphone and announced that we had all been witness to decpetion, and that this was actually their wedding! oomg2.gif Then in walks Dorinda Hafner (Nuala Hafner on Ch7's mum, and local Adelaide celebrity) to be the celebrant for the wedding!!! Well, the mother of the groom cracked it, because she was so upset at her son's wedding not being 'blessed' (read: in the Russian Orthodox Church), and caused a scene...I still don't think she has any idea that this is the whole reason why they decided to do this this way. They were sick of listening to her complain about everything, and she had done the same thing when his sister got married years ago...and she ended up doing a similar thing!

Anyway, the groom went outside to talk to her, and promised to see the priest at their church to get a blessing, and she was better after that. Apart from her, the whole room was just so excited for them, and the vibe was electric. Dorinda was hilarious, yet had us all in tears at many points. It was such a beautiful night... And, everyone kept bringing food my way (pregnany lady must eat! biggrin.gif ), and I was given FOUR pieces of cake!

Then Sunday morning I am woken up by my phone - my brother sends me a picture...of a hand with an engagement ring on it! llove.gif He proposed to his lovely GF of quite a few years - soooooooooo happy for them ddance.gif . So we all went out last night to celebrate. I told her she better not be pregnant too, as I can only handle so many surprises in the one weekend! tongue.gif

So anyway, that was my crazy weekend. Hope you are all well, and like I said, will try and get back for personals soon!

xx

Morning all

On my way to early morning yoga, followed by work and then hair cut and then dinner at a GF's. Hopefully will be a good day.

Coufleur - so glad you didn't kick the bucket! Good luck getting the roof fixed, what a pain for you.

Shadowess - local girl, yay! Good luck travelling, guess that's for work? I'm meant to be travelling on Friday but got out of it due to the 'not meant to travel in the 3rd trimester - want to be closer to home' line so that worked.

Risa-chan - sounds like a fun filled night! You must have felt special being over fed, that's cute. original.gif

One of my brother in law's friends is going to paint the baby's room. Spoke to Wattyl and even they suggeted it's not a good idea for p/g women to paint with low VOC paints. But this guy is such an annoying pain in the pants. I wanted to throddle him yesterday. He's one of those people who just have a way of making you feel like $%^& and pressing on sensitivities (emotional). Agh. Oh well. Must take the good with the bad I guess.

Talk soon!

Hi girls, Just wanted to pop in to let you know that Wizzlet had a significant bleed this morning and has been in hospital all day. U/S showed it was a placental bleed and they are keeping her in for 48 hours observation. She's been given 2 shots of steriods and hospital is monitoring Maddie and prepared to do an emergency c/s if necessary.

Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts. Scary times!

Thanks for the update HM. Oh dear sad.gif

Good luck Wizzlet, I hope things calm down. Rest in the knowledge that post 26 weeks baby will likely be fine. Take care, thinking of you. xx
Genabee
Hi Girls.

Sorry no personals, a quick update from me for those who haven't yet read my facebook update.

I was admitted to hospital yesterday after some heavy bleeding around 9am. A scan revealed that a small part of the placenta has started to come away from the uterus wall.

So, they took a crap load of blood from me (to determine if Maddie's blood has exchanged with mine), have given me the first of two steroid shots (I will have another one about 5pm today) to strengthen Maddie's lungs in the event we have to get her out, and have a canula in my arm ready to take more blood and give me emergency drugs.

I am on strict bed rest until further notice... I have to stay in here until such time as I have had no bleeding for 24 hours and 12 hours after the next steroid injection... so the earliest I am looking at going home is tomorrow afternoon... So far, there is no trace of Maddie's blood in my system (this is good), but will have another round of bloods today to keep tabs on it.

I am sharing a room with two new mums and their babies. One baby was awake alllll night and the other slept right through everything! I felt like I had finally got to sleep when the bloody nurse decided to come and poke and prod me at 6am!!!!

We had the first calmbirth class on Sunday and I am so glad we got to do it before today! My super cool, calm and collected husband was so good at helping me to breath (through an extremely painful vaginal exam) and just generally take my mind of the issue at hand... the relaxation techniques we discussed the other day and are more efficient way to breathe have already been in practice. Whether or not I will get the natural vaginal birth I wanted now, is all up in the air, but I still think the skills, knowledge and trust in my own self that I walked away with on Sunday, made me feel better equipped to deal with yesterday than I probably would have been had it happened last week.

Love to everyone and I will try and get back in with an update a bit later. I have limited internet, but do have my laptop with me in hospital....

Thank you for all your messages of love and support. It really has made a huge difference and helped me get through the day. xxxx
Maeli
Hey ladies.

Had an absolutely chaotic couple of days, & I am absolutely exhausted.

Had to drop everything Monday afternoon & drive to Adelaide as SIL's youngest was flown out with pheumonia, collapsed lung & plural effusion. He's been a very sick little guy, but had surgery this morning & has come out of it very well. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing in his recovery from here on in.

I got home last night & we have 8 children here at present. Dh had them by himself until I got home last night.

~*Big hugs*~ to the ladies who've had really rough times recently!! Hope that everyone is doing better soon!

MrsDolly
Hi Ladies,

Well it has been ages that I have been in here, everything is going really well and little wriggles is soooooo active, especially at night.....

Hope all is well with everyone else, will read through to catch up........BBL

Maeli, glad to hear your nephew is doing ok. The poor little tyke.

Wizzlet, how are you doing this afternoon?

Hello to everyone else.

I'm travelling so only on my phone. Had my GD test today, have decided that plus forgetting to take heartburn tablets is not a good combination on a flight. Spend the whole time trying not to vomit! This should be my last work trip. Yay.11 weeks today and ill hopefully be holding my bubba original.gif take care everyone.
Veina
Wizzlet - good luck with the next 24 hours I'm thinking of you and hope the worst is over. So glad the course is paying dividends already!

Maeli - your husband sounds very proficient, keep that one! Hope your nephew (?) is giong well and the post-op stuff is going well.

HD is home after being away for a some nights so it's nice to have him home and he's back to cooking and garbage and kitty litter duty-yay!

I'm starting to feel more emotional and little things are starting to annoy me which would usually slide off the shoulders. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come! I'm usually pretty emotionally resilient but tears and frustration seem closer to the surface than normal. Oh well. At this stage, I'll put it down to a long week with lots of pre-6am starts. On the good side this week, I've been eating less in the evenings and overnight, so hopefully that will help me manage my weight a bit better!

Keep well.
Veina

Thinking of everyone who've had a stressful time lately!

Wizzlet - hope all went well with the blood tests today and fingers crossed you're home soon.

Maeli - thinking of your nephew too and hope he's better soon.

All is good here. Bit tired today - tight tummy and my feet are killing me so going to relax tonight and will hopefully feel better tomorrow. My brother is getting married on Saturday so we've got family staying and will be busy with them so DH has been trying to make me rest before then! Easier said than done with the boys, work and all the rest of it! Plus it's been REALLY hot and humid here - it was 35 degrees yesterday - hottest temp for the whole of QLD! Ridiculous for this time of year! I didn't sign up to be pregnant in summer so hopefully we'll have some nice autumn weather soon.

What a weekend Risa-chan!

Birth Plans - I'm going through the same birth centre I had my last DS at. Was a great birth - totally drug free though I did have the synto shot after he was born. So I'd love to put in an order for another one like that! I pretty much stayed in the shower the whole time until I hit transition. Then it was almost straight into pushing and he was out in about two pushes. I was induced the first time around with the gel and then the drip. Plus I had gas and pethidene. Wasn't the nicest experience so I will be avoiding all that if possible - the drug free birth was much easier to cope with pain wise and I felt a lot more in control without the drugs.

Anyway getting tired of typing on the ipad so I'm goint to have to leave it there! Hope everyone stays well - surely our group has had enough drama for now!

P.S I'm 28 weeks tomorrow!! ddance.gif

happy-mummy
Update on Wizzlet - She is being release today on strict orders that she is to take it easy for the next few weeks so no work. Great news though. She's going to try to get in to update us later.

Maeli Hope your nephew gets better soon. What a scary thing to have to face for all of you, especially his parents hhugs.gif

boy0hboy I agree, this weather is ridiculous! I'm another that can't wait for it to cool a little.

Poppess Hope the last work trip goes well.

Veina I've also been feeling super emotional lately. I seem to wake up in a grumpy mood and it doesn't go away. and yes, the tears never feel far away. I hate feeling like this so am hoping it passes soon and doesn't stick around for the next 12 weeks.

MrsDolly Hi!

AFM Having today off work as an ante-natal day. Just had a m/w visit at home. All good, passed with flying colours. Tummy measuring 26cm so 2 weeks behind my date but has grown 3cm in 4 weeks so she is happy. I was consistently measuing 3cm behind with DS too so it might mean another boy? Presentation is oblique and heartrate was 135bpm. She did say that my 18w scan picked up a small heart problem but that it doesn't require follow-up as there was only one marker and it almost always resolves itself before birth. I'm googling it now for my own interest but not concerned if she isn't. Hope everyone else's Thursday is going well!
Genabee
Hi Ladies,

I just want to say a super huge thank you to you all for your prayers, support, messages, phone calls and love.

I was discharged from the hospital at about midday today, so I am now at home on the couch, cuddling with Genevieve, my hot water bottle and my pillow.

I won't be returning to work, I'm on bed rest for at least the next two weeks or so. At this stage, I am still able to fly to Perth in a fortnight, but if anything else goes a miss before then, obviously we won't be going anywhere.

I have a specialist appointment with some fancy sonographer on Tuesday to further investigate the placenta. And will now be seeing the midwives weekly. Basically, there is no guarantee it won't happen again, just as it might not happen again (confused!!??). The not knowing is somewhat unnerving, but we are trying to stay focussed and not stressing too much... It will be what it will be and any extra stress won't help. In the event I do start bleeding again, it would suggest that more placenta has come away some more and they have said they won't be wasting any time in getting her out. So please keep sending your positive vibes - we need her to stay put for a while longer!

The plus side (if there is one), is that she is seemingly unaffected. Her heart rate has been consistently normal, she is still moving around and was still her cheeky self in the scan we had on Tuesday. There is no disputing she is a girl - she had her legs spread for all to see!!! Developmentally she is growing as she should be, so worst case scenario, we at least have a healthy baby in our favour - it's just my dodgy placenta!!!!!
ohwow
Wizz - Glad to hear you are at home and resting up on the couch! How scary for you. I hope genevive is being a good comforter to you. And i am very glad that Maddie seems tohave been unaffected by all this.

Hello to everyone else! I must apologise for being slack and not posting much in here. I tend to save it all for FB!

All going well here. I think bubs is starting to get squashed as i have noticed that i can now feel her changing positions rather than just kicks and pokes. Sometimes she pushes against my skin in slow motion and i can actually feel her body parts. It is so amazing and i am loving every minute of it. Actually i had a thought yesterday that it wont be long before she is here and i as much as i am looking forward to meeting her and holding her, i know that i am going to miss being pg too. These moments are moments that will only ever be felt when pg. The whole process is so amazing and miraculous!
WyldIce
Wizzlet ddance.gif For the fact that bub seems completely fine and eexcite.gif for going home! Hopefully that means she€™s going to stay put for a little while longer

Maeli So sorry to hear about your nephew, hopefully he€™ll have a good recovery

Mrs Dolly Don€™t you just love the wriggling?

poppess Yay for the last work trip! And fingers crossed your GD test is negative

Viena bbighug.gif I€™ve been getting like that myself. I find a nice batch every few days is a great way to keep the stress levels down. That and a good book

boy0hboy Isn€™t the weather sucky at the moment? Hopefully it€™ll start to cool off soon. Best wishes for Saturday!

happy-mummy If it makes you feel any better, my DD was born with a funny heart valve (don€™t ask me the technical term cause I can€™t remember ddoh.gif ) but by the time we had checked out of hospital it was already healed. It€™s amazing how quickly their little bodies can heal themselves

AFM Am feeling very tired of late. I'm usually great in the morning but come midday and I just want to curl up under my desk for a nap! I just have keep saying my mantra 'only two months to go' then I finish work. I go for my GD test next week so I'm not looking forward to that. At least I know this time not to eat or drink anything this time so hopefully no false positives this time! Bub's doing well, I think he's taken up Zumba in there lol But at least I know he's active original.gif
em_s
Wizzlet I am so happy for you! eexcite.gif Keep up with the rest and relaxation and I will keep sending you all the postive vibes I can!! It is so wonderful that your little one seems to be going about growing without being affected. So happy!! hhugs.gif
junebuggy11
Wizzlet, thats great news that you are home, even if you have to be on bed rest, lets face it, we'd all rather do it at home huh. Crossing fingers that's all there is to it and you can keep her in for a few more weeks.

Maeli, how is your nephew going? Thats a pretty bad pneumonia etc if they had to take him to OT, what an awful 1st birthday. I hope he's improving.

Had my glucose test today, sat in the ob's offices feeling horrendous and like I was going to vomit, was rather disgusting. Hoping I pass and don't have to do that again! I'm a little annoyed that they don't just use a quick blood glucose machine to tell you straight away... I would have borrowed one from work if I'd known that... the results in a week.....

We must be in the downhill stretch coz my Ob has upped my appt. to every second week from now til 34w, it seems so strange to me to be this pregnant, and have had everything be so relatively uncomplicated, given my previous health. Hearing everyone else's stories makes me feel so lucky to have been so unscathed so far. My BP is back up to pre pregnancy now though and I think it might be going to head up eventually... hopefully not for a few weeks yet....
Growth scan next week, another excuse to see him!

I completely forgot about asking about antenatal classes.... stupid.... while I don't really think there is anything I need to know about basic mothercraft, I know my husband hasn't changed a nappy in an awful long time... if ever, and has certainly not bathed a baby either.... I'm relying on the fact if I can bath a baby on a ventilator then I should be fine to bath my own newborn.....

Hope everyone else is feeling well
xx
Maeli
Hey ladies,

Just a really quick one.

2nd & 3rd daughter had Interschool today, so I've been out of the house all day again & am exhausted...

Nephew is doing well. Looks like he'll have about a 10 day stay from yesterday. He's on a lot of meds, but is doing a lot better. The drains from the surgery should come out tomorrow.

It was a Streptococcus Pneumoniae? infection sad.gif So very nasty indeed sad.gif

Wizzlet - SOOOOO glad to hear that things are on the improve for you & that all is well with your little one. Hope that your appointment goes well & that your placenta behaves from here on in.

Wizz - Glad to hear you are happily home and for now all is under control with bubs, i hope you get into the day time tv and just put your feet up and relax original.gif Do you have family around to help with the house/cooking?

Maeli - Sorry to hear your nephew has experienced such a horrible 1st bday hopefully he will be well enough to enjoy a xtra special party soon original.gif

Kat - The Glucouse test is never much fun , mine is in about a week and apart from the rest I am not looking forward to it , fingers crossed for positive results. I have been fortunate to have easy pregnancy's each time and this seems no different so far.

AFM: All good with me, bubs is still quite active which is lovely, I am so loving this feeling and trying to cherish it as this is likely to be our last child original.gif DH is working on naming this bubs and so far i am liking most of the names he has choosen so fingers crossed he goes with one of the names on his list.

Good afternoon Ladies waves.gif

Wizzlet: I am glad to hear that you and bub's is doing well, what a scary time.

Maeli: Sorry to hear about your Nephew, glad to hear that he is on the mend.

WyldIce: yes the Wriggling is such a amazing feeling, that is the part that I am going to miss the most.

A big hello to all that I have missed waves.gif

AFM: I have my Glucose test next Monday, so hoping all goes well with that. Birthing Plan, I don't think that I am going to have 1 as I am always changing my mind and a lot of friends and family keep telling me that it goes out the window anyway. Well today I have decided that swimming will be my exercise for the next 21/2 months as it is getting harder to keep up with the walking and cross-training.

I just have to say that I am getting so excited, it really is not far away untill we are all holding our newborns in our arms bbaby.gif eexcite.gif

Well that is all from me for now, I hope you all have a great weekend biggrin.gif

Hi ladies,

Been a while since I've posted...

Good to hear everything is going well...

Wizzlet, very happy to hear that things have settled down for you! rest up.

AFM, all good here. Had my second glucose test this morning. OB had me do one at 20 weeks, which I passed with flying colours, and now he's had me do another one, at the same time as everyone else. Hopefully the rests will be just as good.

Took a flex day from work today... getting up in the morning is getting harder and harder! I've got 9 weeks or work left, but things are getting busier and busier, so hopefully they go quickly. This week i've been to Adelaide and Sydney, and next week I think I'm off to Townsville... never a dull moment!

I started the consumables buying today, with a pack of maternity pads.. I figure getting something each week will make it a bit easier! That sort of stuff is all we really need to buy, that's about as exciting as the shopping will get around here.

So how is everyone going with choosing names? we've had some discussion, but nothing of the deciding nature. My brother and SIL having their second baby in the next week or so, so I'm kind of waiting to see what they choose, so we can rule that name out, encase it's on our list. No idea what their list is though.

Anyway, hope everyone's been good!

Hi Ladies,

Maeli - Pleased to hear that your nephew is over the worst of his ordeal. Poor little Man! Will there be a proper birthday celebration for him when he comes home?

Mrs Dolly - Swimming is great! I actually had really started to get into it, though after recent events I don't think I will be back in the pool for a little while! Even just walking in the water or doing some light stretching/kicking in the water is great.

SforSJ - DH is home for the most part for the next couple of weeks, so he is pottering about. He has been pretty good so far, though the house could do with a clean... wink.gif I don't want to be demanding about it, so I haven't said anything as yet! He has been cooking, doing the dishes and feeding washing through the machine though, so the main things are being done.

Good on you girls for getting your glucose tests done! I decided a few weeks ago that I wasn't going to do one as I didn't feel I was at high risk for it. Now that I have had steroid shots, if I change my mind, I need to postpone it anyway as apparently it can give a false outcome. I can't say the events of the last few days have made me change my mind though...

Wyldice - I hear you on the tiredness. I don't think I ever got over the first trimester fatigue though!

BoyOBoy - I hope the wedding is a success!

Hello to everyone I have missed!

AFM - Not a whole lot to report... Resting at home in front of the idiot box with my hot water bottle, dog and pillow (and of course, not without the lappy!). I have been a bit tender and keep having mini panic attacks that every twinge, cramp or moment of discomfort is something bad. Since coming home I think the reality of what has happened and what it could potentially mean, has sunk in... so I've been a bit emotional. I'm scared it might all happen again and next time might mean having a baby.... We are still planning to go to the second part of our calmbirth course this weekend, so here's hoping I can gain some more encouragement from that! Maddie is still moving around lots though and is responding well to her favourite song, which makes me feel better.

Cho and Char - Any updates on the secret stalk? I have seen a couple of things that I would love to get as gifts, but I want to know who I am buying for before I commit!!!
