Hi All... Big congratulations to all those that have had their recent scans and have found out the gender of their little bub!! Welcome to the new members of this group. biggrin.gif

I can't wait until Thursday to see our little bub, although we are not finding out the sex.
I just want to make sure little bubs is OK - I fell on my backside yesterday - ohmy.gif on the concrete slab of the house we are building - I was walking backwards and tripped!.. a completely stupid thing to do - I feel ok and I'm pretty sure bubs is ok.. - I have a lot of padding!! But i'm looking forward to the scan to make sure! Has anyboby else done something this stupid?

You know when you say you can feel the baby kicking or moving.. do you man internally or externally? For the last couple of weeks I can feel little bubs moving around inside - but no difinative kicks - just little squirmy movements - mostly when I'm sitting at the computer - right now actually... I'm pretty sure it's bubs, because i have never felt these sensations before... But I certainly can't feel anything externally. It's our first bubs, so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling?

That is definitely bubs in there saying hello original.gif It's usually only all internal feelings until about 25-30weeks with your first. I was 10kg heavier with DS and my partner didn't get to feel him move till around the 25week mark even though I had felt bubs move inside since 19weeks.
Those movements your feeling will only get stronger and more obvious. You'll know when bubs has the hiccups or kicking or rolling around inside, it's amazing original.gif enjoy, but don't get too upset if your holding your partners hand on your belly and bubs kicks and he says he can't feel it. Its even harder for them to understand what they are supposed to be feeling etc

Hello Ladies!
happy birthday for yesterday AB! Hope you had an awesome day.
I had my first "doctor/obstetrician" appointment oday as im being cared for by the midwives. All went well, such an awesome doctor. Explained what i needed to know. I asked him when i should get the morphology scan done and he told me (considering I will not terminate regardless of whats happening.. just personal belief not a judgement to those who choose to) and he told me 21-22 weeks is fine:) Feeling quite happy... tottered off with ma to get a cute baby item.original.gif
I HAD THE RUDEST RECEPTIONIST AT THE U/S PLACE IMAGINABLE when i wanted to book in the scan. She INSISTED i HAD to have it at 19 weeks... no later.. even though THE DOCTOR told me 21 weeks!!! GRRR... then she went on with the whole termination and ethics committee after 20 weeks rubbish, regardless of the fact thats what MY DOCTOR told me to do! Made me feel SO horrible! I know im not a doctor or a midwife... BUT i am an educated woman who WILL NOT STAND FOR BEING BULLIED! so i made the appointment she wanted me to (tomorrow) to get off the phone and just get it over with (feeling sorry for myself). If i went tomorrow i would be by myself and have to sacrifice half a days pay... GRRRR! I rang back and got a different lady and went all hostile and got what i wanted... my scan at 21weeks!
Please dont get me wrong ladies, i would LOVE to see baby anytime.. but i just want to do what DOCTOR advised me, as i asked specifically when i should get the scan done.
We, as women, and particularly pregnant women should NOT be treated like we are uneducated, silly women that need to be put in there place by anyone and everyone!

OK RANT OVER!
Hope all is well with everyone. Congrats to those who have hit the half way point! 1 week to go for me until the "downhill slope."
LottieCait
I forgot to say Happy Birthday AB in my last post original.gif

Jaymic - I fell over at the start of last week. I slipped on a blanket (thanks DD2 for leaving it) and fell straight on my bum/back on the tiles. I even managed to make a hole in the wall from my elbow ohmy.gif . I was sore for about a week but I could still feel the baby bouncing around so I felt reassured.

Ez what a horrible woman! That would have made me ropable, although it really doesn't take much these days biggrin.gif

I'm counting down til Thursday. My scan is at 9:30 thank goodness so I don't have to wait allll day. Patience is definitely not one of my virtues lol.

eexcite.gif well said!!!

Question for the group - is anyone still at or below their pre-pregnancy weight? I'm starting to worry a tad that I haven't put enough weight on ... for the first time in my life!!! nno.gif I'm still under my pre-pregnancy weight.

Our scan is on 19 May, so I guess we'll just have to wait until then! Not feeling any movement, but understand this to be normal as my placenta is at the front.

Also having trouble walking now huh.gif - OB said that the pain I was having over the last month or so was most likely ligament stretching, but I think I'm now verging into "symphysis pubis dysfunction"... symptoms are identical. I'm going to call the midwife tomorrow and see if I can move my 4 week appointment with OB forward so she can check this out. It is excrutiating sad.gif .

Sorry for the sob story ladies... just having a *bleh* day.

Hope everyone is well

xx
Charley+James' mum
Oobydooby - I am still under my pre pregnancy weight by 1kg (lost 2kgs at start). I have just put a pic on the facebook page which shows I deffinetly have a bump even tho I'm stil under pre pregnancy weight
kate882
Hi all just joining. We are having our 20week scan on thursday (my Birthday) so excited. My partner also felt the bub move for the first time tonight so he is so much more excited. Looking forward to hearing all your stories as we get closer.
americangirl
Welcome kate882!!

Ooby - did you decide on a place for your babymoon? What about Whitsundays, so beautiful there and not as far as Fiji or Thailand! I have only put on 3KG's since I have gotten pregnant.. OB says I have small frame so I will probably stack it on closer to bub's birth.. lucky for me unsure.gif ..

EZ86 - I dont blame you for not taking it from the receptionist! I had a pretty bad appt last wk at scan and am kicking myself for not speaking up!

AB-Happy Bday for last week, hope you are feeling better.

Jaymic- I am not sure what bubs feels like moving around in there either. U/S tech mentioned something about me having anterior placenta, but I have no idea really what that means bc she neglected to explain and my OB has not mentioned it to me. I have read it on here before.. but does that mean I will never feel bubs move during whole pregnancy or just in first two trimesters? I guess I should look it up on internet.

AFM- Thanks for all the advice on whether to have amnio or not. I think after consulting family and DH I have decided not to have it. With my risk of being 1:10,000 I think odds are pretty good that all is fine. I wish they wouldnt scare you so much just to cover themselves it is ridiculous!

biene_maja
Ooby - For SPD I can only recommend you see a good chiro who has experience in treating SPD (ask on EB in your state). I did that before I was pregnant and have been seeing mine every 2-4 weeks and I have nearly no pain at all. By this time with my last babies I could barely walk or roll over in bed.

AFM - I'm doing that stupid glucose test for GD today. Really not happy about it. First of all I'm starving already & then I'll have to waste 3 hours sitting in that waiting room when my house is a mess and today I've got the kids in childcare and I could actually get some stuff done.
So right now I'm cranky & hungry sad.gif
Oh and DH says I'm obsessed with finding a name (I know he is right) so as of yesterday he is refusing to discuss any names rant.gif
This afternoon I'm looking at our No. 1 choice primary school for DD#1 for next year. She so needs to start school... driving me crazy at home.
claire56
Hi everyone,
I had my 20 wk scan this morning and all was going well until the dr found a problem in one of the babies kidneys. It has much too much fluid inside and to cut a long story short there are drainage issues and the bub may need surgery! Not what I wanted to hear! We're trying to see this as a little bump along the way and I know that all will be fine but it's just not something we were expecting! Everything else was perfect and although we didn't find out the sex both my husband and I think we saw boy parts wink.gif
Good luck to everyone else having scans, I really enjoy reading how you're all going
Charley+James' mum
Claire- when I have my scan in just over a week they will be taking a close look at my babies kidneys as well as heart andvsome other major organs due to the 2 vessel cord so I too am worrying about them finding something wrong but as you said it's just a bump on the way
claire56
thanks for your support, it is very nerve racking. All the best for next week, I just keep reminding myself that there's so much that they can do these days to fix these things
Charley+James' mum
That is exactly right, most things can be fixed
Brinny
I had my check up with my local doctor and everything is measuring up (belly size, uterus etc) and in fact she has suggested that I aim for no weight gain from now on. Not to starve myself, but to eat healthy and take my vitamins.
Apparently because I am 89kg (started out 85kg) and am 175cm tall, I am classed as overweight and bubs will get plenty of goodness without me gaining weight.
So I am very happy to hear this original.gif

No more worrying about gaining weight, I can relax and just eat normally original.gif
Brinny
Oh and bring on Friday original.gif can't wait to see bumblebee again biggrin.gif

Hope everyone is doing well and Welcome newbies original.gif
biene_maja
Sorry to hear that clair. It's always hard when you are expecting nothing to be wrong and then they find something.

AFM: I already have my GD results back from this morning. My level after 2 hours was elevated sad.gif which means I have GD again with this pregancy (I had it with #1 but not #2) and they are now getting me organised to see a diabetes educator and I'm in for a few lovely months of finger pricking.

On the plus side... I love my DH. After my test I messaged him (because he wouldn't talk to me about baby names anymore) and told him that I think we should go back to a name we picked when I only a few weeks pg. He then rang me to see how the test went etc and first said no to the name. Then he sent me a message a bit later saying he is happy with whatever name I want to pick for the baby as long as our little man is healthy. So I guess we found our name then but so we don't jinx it I'll keep it a secret.
mummyb83
Hi Mummys,

Great news, its a girl! I told hubby it was a boy, but he said girl and won the bet! We are both very excited!

Not posting the results on f/book as my family has all decided they want a surprise (except my sis bless her, had to tell someone!).

Please update my details on the list.

Thank you original.gif

Beth

PS Sorry, no personals tonight, just got home and got to do dinner and have an early night. Take care everyone

I'm pretty sure we'll go to the Gold Coast - to a nice 5 star resort wink.gif It's a quick flight and reasonably cheap to get there too. My mum is going to buy me an extra night for my birthday present so we can probably make it 4 or 5 nights now!

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm going to try and speak to my OB (or the midwife if she's not available) about it tomorrow. I mentioned this to my mum this afternoon and she said that she was 'bedridden' from 26 weeks with her last pregnancy with very similar symptoms sad.gif

Ugh! You poor thing sad.gif . Are there any particular risk factors for someone to develop GD or is it a 'luck of the draw' thing?

I hope everyone is well and happy!

Hi all,

Cannot believe it. 11 girls and only 3 boys on the gender tally!
I was girl 10!
Sorry also a short and sweet one tonight. Oh so busy!

~megan~
Will try and get to the list tomorrow. Sorry girls. Been a full on couple of days with house stuff and I haven't even turned the laptop or desktop on!!

Hi All,
What a gender tally. Was wondering if any of you know what the cut off is for flying while pregnant. Me and DH want to go on a trip but not sure what the cut off for flying is.
Hope you are all well.

Hi Kate,
I flew when I was 34 weeks pregnant with my 1st and my ob was happy with that. From what she said you're ok to fly up until 36 weeks when the airlines and dr's advise you to stay out of the air. That's what I know to be true. It's less if you're pregnant with twins. Try to get a seat next to the toilets, I was up and down like crazy original.gif
brooksta
Claire - Sorry to hear! It must be very nerve racking for you and I hope it all works out. Thinking of you and your little one

BM - How awful for you! I hope it doesn't cause too many problems for you.

Ooby - Your babymoon sounds nice! Enjoy the time away biggrin.gif

AFM - I am certain now that I am feeling Peanut move. I have been feeling things for almost a week now and was unsure if it was gas or bubs but am pretty certain now it's bubs! It's very exciting!!
I had my first yoga class last night and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to next weeks class.
20 weeks 1 day today so started on the downhill run now!! I had my antenatal appointment with my midwife this morning and all is going well. She is happy with how I am travelling and got to hear Peanut's heartbeat which I always love.
7 days now until my ultrasound and cannot wait...as you can tell!! eexcite.gif Although we are not finding out the sex, I cannot wait to see Peanut again and get a few more photos for the fridge.
I hope you are all travelling well and congrats Beth!! Lots of pink shopping!!! Can't believe how many girls we have in the group. I would ove to even it out with some blue but will have to wait and see.

Just a quick one.

Scan tomorrow, so excited and nervous and worried at the same time. Hah, I'm a mess.

Also Kate82, if it's overseas I've found a lot of travel insurance cuts off at 26 weeks, but some go longer than that. Hope that helps.

Hi all!

Just joining in now, although I have been lurking for a while.

We had our scan on Monday and can add another pink one to this DIG. How funny! So it's off to do some shopping biggrin.gif

I wil have to go back and read through the previous threads but I am very excited to be able to share this experience with you all, this is our first and it's all a little bit scary!

Congrats on the babygirl.gif BossyD

claire and BM I'm sorry to hear you both got some unwanted news this week. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of you.

SmallT
Well it's unconfirmed. I'm a bit down actually, I really wanted to know and it was going to be my excuse to buy something sad.gif The technician thought it was a girl but she couldn't give me any guarantees because Skipper kept putting its hand there or its foot whenever it moved. Skipper's healthy though, which is the biggest positive of today!!!

Did you get any pictures to share?
I mean, we may be able to help you with the gender if you have a pic that shows that area, even if it has it's hands of feet there. Still might be able to see something. Did you get an idea from what you could see?
SmallT
I have no idea, it looked like many shades of grey to me, she had to point out most things to me... Unfortunately the shots we got, were of the alien-looking face tongue.gif and their spine, and a couple of videos but the only one close to the area has a massive leg in the way, so there'd be no chance unfortunately. I'm hanging my hopes on my OB appointment on Tuesday next week, fingers crossed!!
Brinny
Your OB should be able to tell you, provided bubs is co-operating then. I am hoping my bubs co-operates tomorrow as I really really want to know the sex for sure although I am pretty confident it's a boy, since I did see boy bits at 17weeks.
biene_maja
No need to feel bad for me (yet) wink.gif Gestational Diabetes is not so bad. I've dealt with it before. I'm going in to see the diabetes educator and get my glucose meter thingy tomorrow. And we have our big scan tomorrow as well. So hopefully he will still be a he!

Oh and my little sister got some great news yesterday. The biopsy they did on the bits that looked very much like her cancer had spread turned out to be not cancerous. Small miracle because all the doctors before thought (from the scan pictures) that they would be. So that's excellent. Because of that they scheduled her mastectomy for today. Sadly there is no way around it. But at least there is a good chance she can survive this now.
brooksta
Oh BM that's great news that the cells were not cancerous. I wish her all the best and hope the future holds more miracles for her.
Welcome BlossyD and congrats. This is my first also so I understand the excited but little scared feeling. Have fun with the shopping...wish I knew the sex of our little one so I could go crazy shopping but we are waiting for a surprise
How disappointing for you SmallT. I hope your OB can confirm the sex for you smile1.gif
AFM - Hanging out for my ultrasound next Wednesday. I can't wait to see Peanut again and get some more pics for the fridge. Also have my hospital book in appointment next Friday so that will be good to get some info and have a look around the maternity ward and birthing rooms...a little scary but will be good to know what we are in for LOL.
I hope you all have a good weekend and nice Mother's Day!
biene_maja
Thanks brooksta.

AFM: We had our 20 week scan this morning and our baby is very much still a boy. All healthy & perfect.

Actually I have a bit of a weird question for all boy mums (as I have no clue about boy stuff):
Is it normal for their penis to look huge on the u/s? I expected this tiny little thing between the legs and instead it's really big (like almost half way down his tighs). Even the sonographer laughed and said there is definitely no doubt it's a boy.
Is it because their bits are all swollen & red at birth? Does it start this early?

DH got to go with me to the scan so he was very excited to see his little man too.
They switched to 4D a few times and it's just so cute to see them rub their eyes etc.

Have a great day everyone!

miriamf
Hi all

congrats to those who have had their scans. Can't believe the number of girls!!!
biene_maja - on my first son and now on my second son, it was very obvious that it was a boy too! I couldn't get over the size of their penis - my husband was quite proud! Had to explain to him that it was normal due to hormone levels!!!
Will be 21 weeks on sunday - my tummy is getting big now and I am obviously pregnant. Have put on about 3-4 kgs which isn't bad as I had put on about 7-8 kgs at this stage last time with DS. I am getting a lot of pubic bone pain and lower back pain this time around though and some days I am doing the 'waddle' due to the pain. Still up and down to the loo at night - at least 3-4 times a night and finding it hard to get back to sleep.
Hope everyone is keeping well and happy mothers day on Sunday -hope you are all going to be spoilt. Unfortunately my DH is working a long day so no spoiling for me but he promises to make up for it next sunday!

LottieCait

So glad i have found this group. I hope you dont mind but i requested you on facebook. Thanks to those who helped with the flying question. Its great to have someone to bounce off.
I also need to add some pink to the gender tally as we had our scan last week and are expecting a very active little girl.
Good luck to all those who are scanning soon.
