I dropped some kids at school camp today. It's a 1-1.5 hr drive from here. I found a child's hat in my car when I got home. I know they don't have spares as this hat was kindly lent to a girl who forgot hers. A mum who lives close to the school did a quick run home to get it for her.
My daughter was a bit upset but nothing major when I left so I agreed to pop out on Thursday afternoon for a quick hello. If I go back and drop the hat, she might be a bit teary again, and I will still be doing the Thursday trip. If I don't, someone is hatless.
I also herniated a disk on the weekend. Driving around isn't the best thing for it.
If you were me, would you drive back out to the camp after picking your other child up from school?
I don't want to, but I feel guilty for not double checking the car before leaving.

I would think the camp would have a lost and found basket & there would be a few hats in there the child could use.

It's not a camp like dorms and tea rooms, it's 2 teachers and 6 parents with 42 kids in a national park, byo tent, chair, crockery etc.
Perhaps I will drop it out tomorrow morning instead of tonight, and maybe not do the Thursday trip if my daughter is o.k with it.

So the girl forgot her hat, then someone went and got her one, and she left it in your car? How old are these kids? If older than 6 or 7 I wouldn't be rushing back.

I think that sounds like a reasonable compromise.

Sort of. The girl forgot it, another mum went and got her one, but the girl's car had already left, so she gave it to her daughter who was in my car, so the girl who forgot it the first time never actually recieved it.
This is so not an important thread, my brain is just fried right now.

Ahh I see. Tomorrow morning sounds like a good option.

Go tomorrow instead of Thursday and explain to your daughter why.
Sounds like you are feeling stressed so just breathe. It will all work out.

Perhaps call the parents of the hatless child and ask them to take one out to her.

Call the camp and see if the teachers/camp have found a spare one for her. Chances are they have and you don't have to drive all the way out there.
