I am 12 weeks pregnant after a miscarriage at Christmas (which happened like a serious period pain). I have been getting what I think is constipation pains (lower abdomen and bottom).

I am blessed with one child (16mths) and never experienced pain/morning sickness during that pregnancy, so I am finding myself paranoid about this pregnancy after my christmas m/c. I want to tell the family about our joy of being pregnant again but find myself letting the weeks go by without mentioning it just fearing the worst.

Has anyone else experience pain like this? J8CK :confuse:

Hi J8ck,
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Our stories are quite similar. I also have a son, miscarried just before Christmas last year, and am now 13 weeks pregnant. I have been extremely paranoid this pregnancy and have had 3 scans before my NT scan last week (had some slight spotting). I have told my family and my in-laws but have been quite stand-offish when they ask me about my pregnancy, because I was so afraid of loosing the baby again and don't want to talk about it. I know some ladies want to talk about their losses but I'm not like that, I'd rather keep the sadness to myself. So I can understand your holding back on telling your news. It's really up to you when you feel ready to tell the family, but I'm sure they'll be thrill for you.

If you want to chat, please join our 'Pregnancy after loss' thread, everyone's friendly there and I got lots of support.

Regarding the constipation pain, yes, I had it with DS and it was really bad I took 2 days off work. SO painful. So make sure you eat plenty of fruit and drink lots of water.

All the best with your pregnancy and wishing you a boring next few months.
Michelle

Hi All
Let me start by saying congrats to you both.
I had my d&c on the 12th feb after having a blighted ovum , I was 10wks by dates but it stopped developing at 5wks but now I am pregnant again and I find it amazing as I never got my period again after the d&c and probably conceived 1-2 weeks after it and now my blood test has shown I am approx 8-9 wks at the moment with all going well.

My doc says it is too early to do a scan yet but I am getting really anxious to know if it is ok this time.

I too was worried about telling ppl as I told them last time then 2wks later lost the baby so this time I have choosen to tell my family and closest friends only so if something does happen I sometimes feel it is better that only a few know and those that are closest to me know instead of everyone like last time.

I am still sceptical about it all and know there are some risks especially since I conceived straight away but I am feeling good haven't had any spotting or anything so far so fingers crossed this time around.

Regards
Christine
