Hi girls I'm heading back to FT work next month and need some new work clothes. Dress is fairly business formal but not OTT= Cardi's i stead of jackets are ok for instance.

Need ideas on good stores with good prices/sales- happy to buy online or stores IRL Melbourne.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

Hi ya

I have dreadful trouble trying to find nice work wear in plus sizes - apparently larger ladies don't have office jobs rolleyes.gif

I know you said jackets aren't necessary, but I just bought a suit online from nextdirect.com, and all up for jacket and pants it was $100. I've only just got it and tried it on, but for the price the quality isn't bad and the sizing is pretty true. They also have quite a few tops and dresses that might be good for work also.
Their AU site (nextdirect.com, need to set your country as AU for sizing and pricing) doesn't really have sales, but I thought that was a good price anyway.

In regards to cardy's -all the ones I have that I wear to work are either from Target or Big W and are normally between $20-35 - Target often have 20% off days, so maybe keep an eye out on their website. I find thy have the best styles suited to work. Some of the other places, city chic for example, are way overpriced on things like that, so I only frequent them at sale time, which is just about over (didn't really notice too many work type things)).

The other places I frequent are online - not sure how you feel about that, but , asos.com and boden.co.uk have nice stuff and have sales on at the moment. Asos also ships free to Australia. Evans and Dorothy Perkins might be worth checking out also.

If you find anything in your travels, let us know!

Thanks! You have some great suggestions there... I'm just so nervous about sizing- guess I will measure myself up

I've bought online from http://www.autographfashion.com.au and http://www.sarafashion.com.au Both a bit expensive but Autograph have sales once in a while.

Will try Nextdirect.com

As painful as it can be, taking measurements is the best way to be sure. As I am sure we all know, even within the same brand sizing can vary and can also depend on the style ie whether its a fitted style or looser fit. I know there is one or two online places that do free returns, so check out the returns policies before you buy just in case.

Oh, as you are in Melbourne, drop into Dream Diva on Bridge Road if you haven't already - they do have some nice bits and pieces (esp cocktail/evening dresses if you ever need one!)

Dorothy Perkins are having a great sale at the moment, and I think shipping to Aus is around 10 pounds so not too bad. I've heard good things about them, and am about to take the plunge on a couple of work blouses myself - the only negative I've heard is dress hemlines can be on the short side!

Sara have a sale on at the moment too - i agree, they can be a bit exxy based on the quality, but do have the odd nice work top. You can see slected items of their stuff instore at DJs too. Sara's parent site - Ezibuy - has a range called Capture which now offers a lot of items up to a 3XL (I think thats around a 22) and usually have alot of cardys and basics so might be worth looking at also.

I usually end up at Myer. They often have sales on Basque Woman suits.

Hi,

There are heaps of great online stores - and yes, the secret is to take your measurements (or get someone else to take them for you, so your not bending or pulling the tape to read it) all stores run their sizing differently - so you might be an 18 in one brand and a 22 in another - it's only a number!

Here are a few links for you original.gif

I don't look in the larger chain stores - I fin the quality average and they cut usually a little odd, I have pieces form these ranges that look fantastic after 100 plus washes.

(Great foundations will make any out fit look better too!)

So I've ordered a bunch of stuff off Dorothy Perkins- hoping it fits and is as lovely as it seems. Managed to get 3x dresses, 1x pants, 1x skirt and 2x tops delivered for $A107 with student discount.

Still need a jacket though- any suggestions where to go for large breasted chicky?
