Wow, what a score. that meal was pretty impressive though. Clearly, here is a team that is cooking stuff that they know really well and it showed, will be interesting to see how they go when they get the challenges thrown at them

God, my mouth was watering at that meal!!! gah, the dessert was to die for!
bellarox
All I can say is that looked to die for!

Yum food, oh and yummy guys lol.

I will take them both lmao!
Chocolate Addict
Amazing!! I don't eat/drink coffee but damn that dessert looked brilliant. original.gif

They did so well, not stressed out at all. Well done. original.gif
cward
Just goes to show you need to cook things you have cooked before and use your prep time wisely. Great meal
namie
Wow! What an amazing looking meal! I was totally gobsmacked when they brought out the dessert and Manu did too, lol!

I'm so happy for them for scoring so highly. I don't think any of the other teams will beat them.

I'm going to hunt them down. Men who look like that and cook like that are rare!!!
Etcetera
They did well but I can make a jus 15 times better than that.

The thing that got me was that they didn't fight or argue, they seemed so calm. I know it's edited within an inch of it's life but I was really impressed. Maybe it had something to do with cooking something they'd made many times before, unlike other teams!

I noticed that too, when they said they were going to make something they described the process and just did it! Pretty amazing. If I was their mum's I would be so proud.

The dark haired guy is very good looking- he looks like the type who wants everything perfect in his life (did you see his teeth?).
peking homunculus
There is no faulting those guys. Absolutely impressive. Great teamwork and focus.
tinkster23
And they had time for beer!

Very impressive, will be hard to top.
~Fuzjuz~
They can cook at my house anytime. biggrin.gif Well done boys.
Hooray Henry
I really enjoyed watching last night's episode. They were well prepared, knew what they were doing and produced an amazing meal. The standard was so high, it will be hard to beat. The dessert looked beautiful, the did a fabulous job.

I'm looking forward to seeing the boys from Queensland later in the week, they've had an awful lot to say about other people's cooking, so it will be interesting to see whether they live up to their own hype.
Nyz31
It was so easy to watch last night because they were so prepared, and calm and obviously knew what they were doing.
My favourite narky comment for the night was the older and younger female team (don't know their names?) and how they muttered under their breath "there's not much actual cooking on the plate though?" referring to the entree.
Are you for real? Coz you know, it's a real technical effort to boil some frozen peas and squash them through a sieve like you two did!

I just love that these boys have not been cocky and have just kept themselves quiet, which I don't think is a 'game plan' like the others are saying, I think it's just who they are. Their families must be very proud.

Oh, and I'm LOVING the WA couple! They seem like such great people to have at a dinner party! original.gif

Past experiences of cocky-ness has usually ended up leaving them with egg on their faces! Tounge1.gif

Wow the SA boys dinner was impressive!

They were so calm and had everything prepared and ready go, I don't remember any other team being that put together. It was good to see a team do so well.

I am so going to make that dessert! Yum biggrin.gif

Wow the chick in tonights episode forgot about TWO ingredients....woops! I felt for them.

Can't wait to see the lawyer and doctors episode tomorrow. Better be good boys!

My husband hates shows like this but he is dying inside when he's in the room and those two Qlders are on. Personally I would love to see them fail but I really don't think they will.

I could not believe them forgetting. Surely they are allowed to look at recipes to make sure they have got things right?
And to forget the butter in a Tarte Tatin!!! I have only made it once of twice before but what I remember most is that delicious buttery sauce. It's what makes it.
Scootaloo
Does anyone know what part of Tas they were in last night, it looked beautiful. I know they kept saying it was very rural and remote, plus they didn't appear to have a Coles anywhere tongue.gif

Totally hanging out for tonight, i can't wait to see what Mr and Mr Snooty Pants come up with.

I felt sorry for the couple last night. They did seem lovely. I guess with all the pressure she just forgot.

Looking forward to the he-b**ches tonight!

They are not allowed to have the recipes with them.
Munchy-Chipmunk
They are from Four Mile Creek, on the east coast about half way up. Not far from Launceston as the crow flies. But fairly rural to travel to get anywhere.

Yes I noticed they were shopping at IGA's but had Coles bags. Lol

Looking forward to tonight. original.gif

I really want to see them cope with a disaster, it'd be SUPER entertaining.

I think they may score poorly for part of it, I believe I heard Dr Evil mutter something along the lines of "they obviously scored that way because they clearly don't understand French flavours"
qak
LOL - what about the comment about having a mouthful of "Fishermen's Friends" on the ad for tonight.

I am hoping for an epic fail for the Dr Evil team too dev (6).gif
~kitteh.hoarderer~
Me too, I have to say, they are the team I love to hate!

It's not that hard to find something to nice to say. I know often it can be creative editing, but if they weren't making picky comments to begin with, there wouldn't be anything to edit into making them look self absorbed negative jealous so and sos.
Etcetera
I don't understand why they didn't prep the rabbit and put it on to cook instead of fluffing around with the grapefruit.
irishgirly
Loving how awful the two wannabes' menu seems...

I was so confused by tonight...

They come across as ULTRA competitive and flashy and they came up with that menu??? unsure.gif

I would have been asleep under the table if I had to wait that long as well.

Karma sure is one good lady, and clearly Dr Evil doesn't like her judging by tomorrows teaser.

The sad thing is their ego's are so huge that they cant see any fault in what they did tonight. What horrible, horrible people they are. They have really disgusted me with their self importance and although they seem to have a great understanding for cooking, they aren't as amazing as they think they are.

Rilla
Nooooooo! My recording cut out again. It stopped just as Pete was going to score the main. What did I miss? It's it up on the website yet.

Yes, they are so arrogant. I liked the dr's comment tonight about how the other teams would give them some leeway with the timing as they'd been there and knew how hard it was!
Elemenopee
Purpletulip girl:
9,9 entree
6,6 main
5(m), 4(P) dessert
Grand total 63, in position 3
By the way
Pete scored something like 9,6,4.
Manu I think was 9,6,5..

That was hysterical. The table setting was ridiculous and looked like it came from a kids party section in the Womens Weekly.

That meat looked so bad I'm not sure I could have eaten it. It looked as good as one of our everyday dinners and I'm a terrible cook.
*Finn*
Awwww I'm disappointed they were scored so well. Still watching here in qld but I thought after a 3 hr wait I thought they would have received a low score
Chocolate Addict
Dessert at 1am and they wanted good scores?? WTF?

He still didn't get it though, his arrogance still shone through.

The main - meat and one veg. Potato isn't considered a veg in most restaurants. Plus it was potato bake - not exactly hard to make, very mainstream no matter what posh name you give it. lol

OH and I couldn't stop laughing watching him do the beans one at a time. We had a kitchen hand doing that once and I had to remind him we didn't have all day and you could in fact do 5 or 6 at one time. Tounge1.gif

The plate the dessert was on was so impractical. There was no lip on it so no way to scoop up the sauce or keep the pear on the plate.

Pretty poor effort after the way they talked themselves up. Perhaps if they didn't take 1 1/2 hours for brekky they might have done better. What prep did they get done in the 3 hours apart from set the table?? (without the Champers glasses! lol)
YEP...
Ah what a great episode!

A THREE HOUR wait for main!!

The pear was not cored (haven't they ever seen masterchef) biggrin.gif

Tart tin bottoms left on the tarts unsure.gif

Main was very pedestrian I thought. The potatoes and beans looked nice, but I expected better from them.

And I think it was the lawyer that said that the people who know nothing or little about food scored them or would score them low (something along those lines anyway).

Nic and Rocco are killing it!

I agree completely. It was such a woeful effort I can hardly believe it but I really can't believe they think the scores came from strategising! Well, maybe they partly do, but for heavens sake! No one should have to eat main course at midnight after a 3 HOUR wait! I'd have scored 5, I think, overall because let's face it, after 3 hours even a burger from Maccas is going to pretty bloody good!

What the hell did they do in their 3 hours of prep time? Gary made the pastry and Peter made the stock aaaaand . . . what else got done? I actually can't remember what else they worked on. I don't think there was anything else. Pastry, no matter how short and perfectly buttery and delicious, doesn't take 3 hours to make. A good quality stock shouldn't take 3 hours to prepare. 3 hours to cook, maybe, but not that long to chop!

I am totally underwhelmed by them and I am really, really pleased they'll be in the bottom 3 - although, I'd like to see them stay in the competition so I can watch them fail spectacularly at the first timed challenge dev (6).gif

One bean at a time? *shakes head in disbelief*
Cheryl_v
I’m sure they know their food and it was probably very good but it’s a competition, you don’t faff about during prep time! This season has been all about the faffing, I really hope next year’s potential applicants have learnt from this. During their prep time they spent more time on the pastry and making it "perfect" than on anything else. Given the judges' score I guess you could say that paid off for them but really you can't base your effort for a 3 course meal on how well you do the pastry for the entree.

My DH said that he’s sure they cast these two based on their food knowledge and dislikability rather than their cooking skills and I have to agree – after the media storm with Mel from Tassie last year the producers must have realised that the common reality theme of casting a villian is gold for this show.

Does anyone else think there is an element of gamesmanship in the judges’ scores? Most of the time I think their comments match their scores very well but sometimes, well, it just looks like they want to put a team in a certain place on the leaderboard. Also if the original promo showing one team scoring based on gamesmanship is true that must be this next round to keep themselves out of the bottom three. In which case I feel really sorry for the Vic girls but hopefully their food is good enough that everyone else gives them a proper score.
Chelara
Remind me never to get 'surgery' from that doctor, I'd bleed to death before he managed to stitch me up. Amm guessing for all his surgical skills he is probably a gp though.

I didn't quite get the judges scores, surely technique should enter into the equation and I saw very little technique. That steak, mushies and potato bake was a 45 min weeknight cooking job around here. Not to mention a very basic tart with perhaps nice pastry.
blue4me
Mwahahaha roll2.gif

Good to see them get a taste of their own medicine. It took them 3 hours to get main out, after complaining about other teams taking too long, I mean really!? What on earth were they doing in the kitchen? And even if Dr Evil has only ever cut 1 bean at a time, wouldn't you think that maybe when you are in a competition and running late that maybe it would be a good idea to cut several at once wacko.gif

They also didn't like others themes/decorations of their resteraunts and then they put out a tacky GC beach tablecloth, plastic figures and bluetac!?

I hope the girls tonight do well but I'm sure Dr Evil and sidekick will give them really low scores out of spite.
jessie123
Other than the time it seems there food was pretty good.

I don't think it will stop their b**chy comments they have obviously been cast into that role.

On the topic of the beans though, if they were still waiting for the meat & potatoes etc to cook would have cutting the beans quicker have really saved any time ?
