Hi there,

I'm six weeks pregnant (first time), due 11 Oct. I've made an appointment to see a OB when i'm 9.5 weeks. Is this normal to see an OB so late?

Is there anything else i need to do?

I'm feeling quite good and other than sore boobs and cramping here and there but doesn't feel like i'm pregnant so doesn't quite feel "real" yet.

I haven't told anyone about the pregnancy (other than hubby) until i do a ultrasound and everything is all good.

Hi missyk! Congratulations!

My first ob appointment isn't for another month on 5 March, when I am just
over 8wks. So don't worry. It's normal. Have u seen a gp?

I'm due 13 Oct so we are close together! Also only told hubby and parents as had a bad
experience with a ms in Dec, told so many people and then everything
went wrong at 12wk scan.

Sometimes gp will order blood test to check hcg levels and check for your
immunity against rubella etc but there is no urgency. It can wait for your ob
appointment.

Your obviously on EB which talks about eating, exercise, taking folate etc when pg.
Otherwise I am sure some of the fellow posters can help !!

Take care original.gif

I'm 5w4d today and all I've done so far is a blood test and have booked an ultrasound for 10 weeks.

Not really much to do for the time being. You've booked your ob so now all you really need to do it wait! Pregnancy is all about waiting for one thing or another rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif.

Thanks ladies for your reply :-)

I've done two blood tests, one to confirm that i'm pregnant :-) and another to check my blood type, rubella etc and doctor was very happy with the results.

I'm taking Folate which includes iron in them.

This pregnancy cames as a surprise - didn't think we'll get pregnant this early so i feel a little unprepared.

That seems to be so TRUE!!

My first ob appointment is on the 14th of March, when I'll be 10w4d. First ultrasound at 12 weeks, how is it that everyone else seems to be offered them earlier? I feel jibbed Tounge1.gif

I saw my GP at 4 weeks and she ordered all the bloods for HCG, immunisations, blood type etc. Apparently there was nothing else to do at this point.

I'm the same as you Pinky Bee. First saw Dr just before 5 weeks. Next appointment at approx 10.5 weeks and ultrasound at approx 11.5 weeks with no offer of early scan. I had all the same bloods as well. Makes you feel kind of abandoned, this is my first so I just expected more I guess.

Same here Pinky Bee . Got my first OB appointment on 13 March and i'll be just over 9 weeks pregnant.

I'm feeling very "normal" with no signs of being pregnant (other than bloating and the cramps have stopped) so i'm looking forward to the OB appointment to make it officially "real"

I suppose its just a waiting game now.

Hi all,
I am due 16th October and very excited.
I had a mc 6 months ago so I wanted to wait until next week for my first gp appointment. We are not intending on telling our parents until 3 months, just incase.
I just wondered, I have given up wine, but still have my morning coffee. Is anyone else struggling with the no caffeine rule?
kimliz
Holly, I am pregnant with my third baby so I guess I'm a bit more relaxed, but I haven't had a drop to drink since I found out and I love wine! I did have a small glass here and there with my first 2 ( after the first trimester) I found some guidelines for caffeine the other day which said it was fine to have up to 3 cups a day. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I did have one today and some chocolate too:) my biggest thing. Have missed so far is coke zero. I think the artificial sweeteners are pretty bad. I tries a real coke the other day, but as I'm not used to the taste anymore I thought it was awful. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about having 2 cups of coffee a day, just make sure you drink plenty of water too.
Holly_SA
Well thanks that makes me feel a bit better. I''ll try and stick to my one per day just incase, but atleast I can enjoy it now!

You dont have to cut caffeine out all together, but just dont have it in excess!
I used to have 2/3 coffees a day and now I just have 1 original.gif

Hi Ladies. Ive just found out Im pregnant after 6 years of TTC, but the Nov due date club isn't up yet..so im going to hang out here with you guys for a bit!
I wanted to tell you about the early ultrasounds..most people who get them have them because they have had IVF or some type of fertility treatment and the specialists want to find out that the embryo has implanted in the right area before you get signed over to a regular doctor..others have them because they don't know when theyre due, so they do the early scan to work out the due date

I'm taking Folate which includes iron in them.

If nothing else take some omega 3 DHA/ARA supplements or make sure your diet is high in foods containing them. Studies confirm brain development relies on lots of available omega 3 and lack of it will negatively impact intelligence and mood.

The Blackmores pregnancy vitamins were ones I found to contain good levels of everything, including omega3.
