Howdy folks.

So I'm looking for a liquid soap dispenser thing to go in the bathroom, you know a more decorative type of one, but I don't think I've ever come across one that worked. Why is it that a plastic bottle from the supermarket works better than a supposedly permanent one. Without fail every one I have tried the pump part has broken. I bought one recently that seemed different, but it's borked too!

Soooo....has anyone actually bought a soap dispenser for their bathroom that hasn't had the pump crap out after 5 seconds? If so, where from?!

Thanks!
Soprano-Cat
Haven't the foggiest, but if you're crafty, maybe you could whiz up a soap dispenser cozy on the sewing machine? LOL

That way you end up with a soap dispenser that works, and a way to hide the labels (in complementary colours to the bathroom!)

Lol, I think something like that would last all of two seconds with the girls, they'd probably try and take it off and play with it. Tounge1.gif

Yes! And then post some pictures so I can laugh out loud all over again! Haha!

Brrrroooce!
Had the same problem, went through about a dozen of them.

My Mum got me the battery operated one. It's not pretty but it hasn't broken so I'll live with the ugly.

No advice. They are all crap. You can spend $5 or you can spend $50 as I have and they have all stopped working at some point.
I now just buy the store ones. Aesop have a decent one that smells yum too.

Oh that's gorgeous! Tounge1.gif

Why is it that the store bought ones last for ages and ages if I keep refilling them, but buy a decorative one and it's dead with the first pump. El stupido!
Soprano-Cat
Okay, I admit I deserve the outright mockery, but it was the only solution I could come up with!!

I kind of like that cat cozy apron thing though. It's just weird enough to pique my interest

SC- I googled to see if it was crazy enough to even exist. Low and behold the world wide web did not let me down. Not only does it come in cat designs but there is a whole store range of them. Made me laugh I had to share it.

I have had a stone one from target for about 18 months now and it still works fine. It came in a pack with a soap dish and toothbrush cup.

We have a Cuisinart one (well, actually 3). I bought one for the bathroom and it worked so well that DH asked for more.

It's not decor matching pretty but it works. I initially bought it because I can dilute the soap down with water and it foams up so we use less AND rinses off easily. I find that important with overly enthusiastic kids. It has a suction base so stays put no matter how rough the kids are.

They are around $15-20.

I bought one from Target too about a month ago and it still works fine. It is a dark brown one that is square shaped.

Not much from Target works that well but this soap dispenser sure does.

We bought one from IKEA years ago and it has worked fine ever since. It's not pretty though, you'd totally need a cat cover!

we have one of these too. Urbanbaby has them in different colours now.

I have a nice white one from Adairs that works perfectly. I think I've had it for about 5 years now. From memory it was $8 back then.

I got some free ones from my Reece outlet (thrown in with free with the stuff i was buying) that were marked down from $20. They are white rectangular blocks with a silver plastic pump thing and they work fine.

I was thinking of trying those hand free soap dispensers being advertised at the moment - you can get them from the super markets for @$20. They look ok but i dont know any one who has tried them.

Thanks everyone for the replies, off to look now!

I was coming in to say the Cuisinpro one too - you put soap and water in and it comes out foamy! It works well and looks good too!
Amanda_R
They definitely are an interesting idea, the fact it washes off easily is a good thing! Undecided as yet!

I've come to the same conclusion Amanda, so now I just buy pretty bottles such as the MOR brand. I do love the Aesop hand wash though, I have it in my guest toilet.

I have purchased a crappy $2 one from Coles that has lasted ages. White ceramic. They have been around for a while. First one lasted 3 years and second is still going strong 2 and bit years later. Looks ok.

Oh thank heavens - I thought it was just me. I have reverted back to supermarket plastic ones because after many tries, I decided clean hands beat decor.
