Hi ladies

I am not too worried about this, but just wanted to post to make sure I'm taking the right approach.
DD has just turned one and has always been a fantastic eater/drinker with no major health worries other than some silent reflux in the very early days.

Her normal diet consists of two lengthy breastfeeds (morning and night), mashed vegies, pureed fruit, weetbix, bread, yoghurt, cheese, water and little bits of pasta etc from our meals.

On Saturday at lunchtime she vomitted a huge amount of food - I'd say about a litre worth all over the floor and herself. We hadn't given her anything new or different to eat so thought it must be a bug and cut her back to water and bread for the rest of the day which she handled fine. I gave her a five min feed at night and she went to sleep. She vomitted overnight.

On Sunday we stuck to water, a bit of bread/muffin and by lunchtime we gave her a few spoons of vegies but she threw up again (after two mouthfuls of vegies). Back to water and bread for the afternoon and a very short breastfeed at night. She vomitted overnight again.

On Monday she was able to tolerate small amounts of pureed pear, apple, some muffin and bread and plenty of water. I gave her three minutes of breast at night just to settle her but she hardly drank anything before falling asleep. She vomitted overnight AGAIN!.

While I'm sure all the lactation consultants would laugh at me, I'm beginning to wonder if she's suddenly become allergic to my breastmilk unsure.gif as she seems to be handling solids during the daytime.
Is this going to be the end of breastfeeding?

She has also been doing pungent, revolting soft nappies once or twice a day. This makes me think it must be a gastro bug of sorts that only makes her sick after breastmilk.

Does that sound right to other mums? Is there something going around?

Thanks if you got this far original.gif

Sounds like she just has a gastro bug to be honest, keep her hydrated and keep your eye on things.

When my two DDs had it their vomiting was very random and they seemed ok the rest of the time. But then I caught it off my eldest and ended up vomiting violently non stop for about 8 hours and ended up in the ED.

So it could very well be a bug, but one that hasn't affected her too badly.

Sounds like a bug, I would recommend that you watch your dairy intake until things settle down as one of the recommendations for littlies who are recovering from a stomach bug is going lactose free.

DS1 has had something similar for over a week, DS2 coming up to a week (he only vomits overnight or first thing in the AM) and I gotit Sunday night.

I'd be putting it down to a gastro bug and take her off to Dr. I also try to starve the bug, but bit hard with little ones sad.gif

All the best.

Thanks ladies - that just puts my mind at ease. I hadn't thought to reduce my dairy intake, I'll start asap. Hope that everyone's littlies soon get over the bug.
