We have been thinking of using cloth nappies over disposable, I'm looking for everyone's opinion pleaseeeeee, cost, ease and how many cloth nappies we would need. Any information would be great, Thanks

I use cloth full time and my advice would be try them after 8 weeks because the newborn stage can be enough of an adjustment without the extra washing. Over all they are easy, I would recommend the Facebook MCN buy and sell page as they are cheap and the ladies on there know there stuff. Good luck with it all original.gif I would recommend 24 nappies and a pack of flush able liners.

Hey Noodle13

WIth both of my babies i used cloth from birth. I started with the terry squares when they were little then moved over to medium itti bittis then to medium baby beehinds.

I have since discovered a very crazy addictive world of cloth where you dont really save alot of money because they are so so cute - This however is not to say you wont save money - but that i didnt.

But when you take into consideration the re-sale value of the nappies and the fact they hold value really well - you still have a chance to recopup some losses even if you do end up buying some of the $60 cuties!!

I used cloth for 2. I had about 30 nappies and washed every second day. This worked well for me original.gif I would suggest a mix of different kinds. I loved fitted and sized nappies.

You can save even more money by using OSFM nappies that fit from newborn to toilet training. This is a great way to buy quality and only need to buy once original.gif

Hope you found the forum on cloth and are having fun with all the other cloth mamas! x

That's a good idea, might do the easier option for a few weeks first, Thanks

I also know of a Nappy Library that hires out nappies so you can try the different styles before paying lots of money.
PM me if you would like details original.gif

I used cloth for both my babies until toilet training at 2 years old. The outlay for our clothies was about $1000 for close to 40 nappies and fleece liners and flannels for wipes. When my kids toilet trained, I sold the stash onto another mum for $200, as most were still in excellent condition (although probably only had another year or two left in them, which I told her). She has since used them on one child and is expecting her second, and the nappies are still going strong (although she does a combo of both). I was stoked with the economy factor, and I am a total sucker for a big cloth bum original.gif
