A mum at school told me they can have cows milk on cereal from 6 months, I didn't think my boys did until about 10 months but that was 5 years ago. DD is 7 months it would make breakfast easier but not sure if its ok. Thanks

Good question! DD3 is 6 months and I have recently been wondering the same thing. For the life of me I just cant remember what I did with the other two.

Sorry I don't have an anwswer, hopefully someone else will!

I started giving DS2 porridge/oats made with milk from about 7 1/2 months.

He probably started by having a couple of teaspoons of porridge at once and now at 8 1/2 months has a couple of tablespoons.

He is otherwise BF and on around 5 feeds per 24 hours.

(I just realised that I make the porridge using lite milk as that is what we drink...maybe I should be making it with full cream, or is that only necessary when they are actually drinking it?!)

I started using full cream cows milk on DS's cereal around 7 months. For the weeks before that I used breast milk or formula.

He is 10 months now and I don't give him cows milk to drink yet (do give water in a sippy cup) but he enjoys it on his cereal and he likes yogurt and he likes cheese.

Full cream is apparently appropriate until they are 2 - they need the milk fats!

I started at 9 months.
