Is there any reason not to?
I remember being advised to avoid swimming pools and baths for the 6 weeks after my caesarian, but I assume that was more for the scar.

I don't know what the medical opinion is but I had a big long hot tear filled bath after I got home from the hospital after my D&C.

No one told me not to?

Given you have no external scars I'd say you are fine to. A hot bath was recommended to me for the cramping and pain.

I was thinking of infections, I guess and wondering how long it takes everything to close off. Perhaps, it's automatic?

I certainly did and I was in there for so long. Lit a candle and played some music. Had a green tea and just relaxed. It bought me back to life I guess. Best thing I did. Also if your referring to still bleeding I don't know about everyone else but even when I have my period I bathe and for whatever reason no blood comes out?? I think your more likely to catch an infection from a toilet seat then a clean bath, just my opionion. I think your safe, if it's what you want to do, Enjoy!!

I was advised against swimming when I had my miscarriage, but I can't remember anything specifically about baths. It was for infection (which I got a nasty one of anyway, despite avoiding swimming).

I was bleeding for ages though, and a bath would have been yucky. But if you reckon a good hot bath is going to make you feel better, do it I reckon.

My only concern would be that the cervix may still be open, which could put you at risk of infection (which is the reason you may have been told to avoid tampons etc). I don't know for sure, perhaps one of the midwives on here may have an idea.

sorry for your loss OP. I lived in a warm bath for about 2 days as it helped with the cramping heaps.

Thanks for the replies.. I think the bleeding is tapering off now, so I think I'll wait until then. I already have an infection that I'm on antibiotics for, so waiting until I can have a huge glass of wine might be a better idea.
