Hi, just wondering if anyone has any tips. I'm breast feeding my four month old DD at the moment but am going back to work for one day per week in four weeks' time. My first day back is an overnight off site so I will be leaving her with granny/dad overnight. I plan to express enough for the two days over the next four weeks, though I give her EBM once every 24 hours to get her used to the bottle, so establishing and maintaining a stash is difficult. I've got this terrible fear she's going to be left starving and screaming with my partner in the middle of the night and so I wanted to get some formula in just in case.
I'm wondering which formula is good for supplementing with breast milk? I've got absolutely no idea when it comes to formula so I'm wondering if I could get some advice.
TIA
T&A
I supp'd for a while, aptamil gold was recommended to me by midwives and amec nurses, but my bub found it too heavy and was constipated on it. I used straight Kari are after that and has less problems, they are all just about the same though and all as similar to breast milk as they can be made. Good luck
Oh btw I currently off for a few reasons and use novalac which is great and has a wide range biggrin.gif

Thank you for that! I wasn't sure whether there was something specific I should be using or whether it's more just a matter of trial and error.

I suggest buying formula in sachets rather than a tin that, once opened, needs to be consumed in a month. For the odd feed I doubt there'd be much difference between brands original.gif

From memory the "Gold" types of each brand contain addtional iron which from my understanding serves only to constipate most babies and was certainly our experience. We used the standard Karicare on the occasion that I was not available for a feed.

Make sure your take your breast pump with you and express regularly as you will be very full if you miss 24 hours worth of feeds. I had to do 72 hours away when bub was about the same age, she had just started some solids too (we started early on advice from immunologist due to family history of allergies). I still seemed to feel very full as expressing for me did not remove all of the milk, some but not all. I was "busting" to see bubs on my return literally so just watch out.
