So I have a few questions for those regular Thermomix users out there before I buy one. DH has FINALLY relented after 6months of me pestering him but I wanted to check a few things first.
Can I:
- stew fruit, like apples, pears etc. i dont want puree but soft fruit to mix with porridge, yogurt etc.
- i realise you cant grate but I often cook zucchini slice and get the kenwood out to chop onion & bacon and then I grate cheese and zucchini. Could I do that in there to put in a baking tray to bake in oven or would it mash the cheese and zucchini?
Thx!

Like a compote? I would suggest not because the blades are constantly turning. Even on reverse they'd end up as lumpy mush. You could possible steam it in the varoma but I haven't used that before. I find some things much easier doing it the traditional stove top method.

That would be fine. You play around with the speeds and time to get the texture you like.

You can steam the fruit in the basket easily enough. With soft fruit, you can use the butterfly and reverse. I've made jams in there and the fruit has stayed intact.

You can stew your fruit easily, on the lowest setting and on reverse so it's not puréed.

Yes. The thermomix comes with a basket insert that protects food from the blades. However, in the case of stewing fruit, I'd just use a pan. It's one thing to wash as opposed to a basket, a lid, a seal and a bowl with blade.

That would be no problem. It might take a bit of trial and error to get it to the texture you desire.

I agree with this, you'll need to experiment and note your findings in a note pad in the beginning and adapt the recipes you are using. Generally I have found that the small I chop fruit and veg before putting them into the thermomix e.g. quarter when the recipe calls for half the easier it is to get the texture I want. I don't like mash either.
I made a
ricotta and spinach quiche the other day and adapted it to the thermomix. The spinach was intact through using the low speeds on reverse and it was yummo.

yes, but in the thermomix you won't forget about it and then burn it all. I may or may not have done before
